Vero's Chef Jenny believes strongly in the importance of fresh, healthy food while supporting the local community and strives to create flavourful inspired cuisine using quality ingredients sourced from a variety of trusted local producers, Remarkable starters and plates are offered along side hearty entrees, such as the house made pasta, grass fed beef, seafood, lamb, chicken and duck, with many gluten-free options available. Featured small plates include Baby Calamari Frito with romesco and the Signature Sweet Potato Gnocchi with wild boar bacon and gorgonzola, as well as more substantial offerings, such as the Surf & Turf Platter, Steak & Truffle Parmesan Frites, Monkfish w Saffon Risotto and "The Seafood Platter".

  • "Vero is one of our favorite restaurants in Calgary. The service is always superb, we have never had an issue. The food is superb and the chef just took a sabbatical in spain, with super results. There is a wide variety, portions are good and the combinations great. We had the Brussel sprouts carmelized, great and an arugula salad with artichoke fritters, super. Main course was a lamb dish, not cheap at 39 but very good size and wonderful tasting. Dessert was a creme Brulee, one of the best we had. Wine choices are always interesting. Vero is not cheap but for calgary fair and the overall experience wonderful."

  • "Took my family here to celebrate my mom's birthday. It turned out to be Steak&Frites Wednesday, which ended up being a very nice surprise. I liked that they had a fish or veggie dish for those who wanted to opt out of the steak. Great price, and the food was cooked to perfection! It's a small space, but in the cosy way where you don't feel like you're too close to the neighbouring tables. The staff were friendly, but still professional, and explained each dish that came out with confidence. We will definitely be back!"

  • "We have been twice. The first was incredible. Flavours of food - outstanding from beginning to end. The servers were remarkable. We had steak the next time (Wed. Special) and although the flavor was fabulous it wasn't as tender as it should have been but the fries were unbelievable! Salad - fresh & flavorful and dessert was perfect! I 'd go there again and again! Our favorite place to dine. P.S the only place ever that takes the time to heat the milk (I like a lot of milk) for my coffee!!"

We were a group of 3 and impressed with the appetizers, our dinner, dessert, as well as an amuse-bouche and some hot-out-of-the-oven corn bread served by the chef. It is a shame Vero is so overlooked in the Calgary food scene, publications like Avenue and City Palate ignore it but it deserves its place amidst Calgary's best."

Nice to get the free dessert, as we found out that if we liked the place in Facebook, we could get a dessert free which my son did right there.   • "I'm not sure why it took my hubby and I so long to try Vero, but we ended up going for the first time on the last night of Big Taste YYC. I started my meal with the ahi tuna nicoise salad, then the paccheri, and finished off the night with mango cheescake. This was the best meal I've had in a long time!! EVERTHING was scrumptious!! If you haven't tried this place yet - what are you waiting for!?!?"

  • "Wonderful brunch, it was very busy when we went in so I was glad to have an Open Table booking. I had the sweet potato gnocchi, which was so tasty. I'm actually wishing I could have some now just thinking about it. The gnocchi was accompanied by roasted walnuts, bacon, Gorgonzola cheese and two sunny side up eggs. My hubby had the spicy salami eggs benny and not a crumb was left on his plate. We will be back!"

  • "Came here for the Big Taste lunch but it turns out on Sunday they serve their regular brunch, so we tried this out for the first time. We were seated right away but waited a long time for the server to come around and take our order, waited a LONG time to have our plates cleared and an even longer time to get our bill. The server, while very pleasant, seemed a bit frazzled and looked to be managing all the tables on her own. She did not write our order down and had to come back and check a few minutes later what it was we wanted, and even then I received an americano instead of a latte. Not a bit deal and so I didn't want to say anything. The food came out surprisingly fast and, as always, did not disappoint. Truly delicious! Overall great."

Salad portions were just right, greens were very fresh, combinations were thoughtful and provocative (e.g., nicoise salad w/ ahi tuna pieces). Cooking was delicious, with very nice interpretations of classic paella dish. Would definitely return again."

  • "Would could tell that this restaurant was a neighbourhood favourite. Many long time diners, from what we could tell. We had the Iberico de bellota to start. There was some confusion over what the dish came with at some slightly older menus were given to us. But the restaurant whipped up the extras that were on the old menu for us. Good thing they did since the ham on its own would have been a bit underwhelming. My wife loved it, I did not. No fault to the preparation. We shared the crispy vegetable rolls as well which were excellent. We shared the steak frites entree and the frites were amazing. You got a very good size steak which was mostly excellent with a fair amount of gristle. Well done though."
