Vero's Chef Jenny believes strongly in the importance of fresh, healthy food while supporting the local community and strives to create flavourful inspired cuisine using quality ingredients sourced from a variety of trusted local producers, Remarkable starters and plates are offered along side hearty entrees, such as the house made pasta, grass fed beef, seafood, lamb, chicken and duck, with many gluten-free options available. Featured small plates include Baby Calamari Frito with romesco and the Signature Sweet Potato Gnocchi with wild boar bacon and gorgonzola, as well as more substantial offerings, such as the Surf & Turf Platter, Steak & Truffle Parmesan Frites, Monkfish w Saffon Risotto and "The Seafood Platter".

  • "We started with the Maple Walnut bacon sweet potato gnocchi. It was amazing. Unfortunately our main courses were not as impressive. We had the pork chop and the seafood stew. Both were a little plain and lacking in the flavors the menu had us hoping for. However they were a good portion size and better than similar restaurants we have been to in the same price range. The specials did end up looking better than what we ordered and we would suggest trying those if you go. Overall, worth trying once or twice."

We ordered the steak and frites that also came with a salad. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Only suggestion would be the noise level. The restaurant was not full and we still had a hard time hearing each other!"

  • "We had a fantastic brunch at Vero's on Sunday. The set menu had a lot of options and was very kid-friendly as well. It was the first time that my husband had eaten at Vero's and he was really pleased with the gluten-free options. Our small children loved their stuffed French toast. The service was very attentive and fast. We were so thrilled with our experience that we will definitely make Vero's a regular spot for dining out."

It just happened that I ordered Salmon at all my meals as I was pleased on how fresh it tasted. My experience with the servers was that they were positive and happy to please their customers. "

  • "The newspaper reviews emphasize how chef Jenny Chan fuses Italian with Chinese. But let's not jump to conclusions just because she is Chinese. Chan has had a solid education in Italian food and the food in this place its mostly Italian. You will are hints of a Chinese influence, however, which guarantee a unique experience. We had oysters and sweet potato gnocchi for starters and veal cheeks and veal ravioli for the main course. Everything was prepared with skill and care and was just delicious. The chocolate dessert special of the day did not excite me, it had what seemed to be generic commercial chocolate beads on top. But that is a small fly in the ointment in an otherwise all around pleasurable experience. Solid international wine list."

  • "Just finished a most excellent dinner at Vero, and while I could go into the details about the food, what impressed me the most (okay, the crème brûlée was one of the best I've had) was the service. My dining companion didn't enjoy his main as it wasn't warm enough, and how the staff handled it was beyod reproach; based on this alone I would return, however my meal was thoroughly satisfying with the starter, main, and dessert hitting the mark. The prices are very reasonable, considering there are places in Calgary charging far more for far less, just because it is Calgary and they can get away with it. I'm looking forward to returning and would not hesitate to recommend Vero."

  • "We went to Vero Bistro on a "No Menu Tuesday" (three courses chosen by the chef for $39) and had a great meal. The night featured two different appetizers (a clam chowder and a salad with prosciutto) and two different main courses (lamb chops and halibut). The halibut was outstanding with the lamb chops only a little behind. The carrot cake for dessert was the only somewhat-disappointing item. Service was prompt and friendly. Servings are moderate, but the three courses make a meal. Definitely worth trying again."

Absolutely the best fish I've had in Calgary! Also tried the Brussel sprout "salad". Served warm. Fantastically satisfying. Can't wait to return. Michael is always so warm and welcoming and Jenny is just a gem!"

We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. Last night, I experienced something new, an extraordinary meal.   • "Could have been great but as a couple we were seated beside a big party who needed to be noisy. There were lots of vacant quiet tables and I should have asked. At a restaurant like this one would hope the staff would step up and simply move us from the braying noise. Could possibly be romantic if you lucked out and the staff could do what they do without showing big initiative. Another suggestion might be knowing if your parking spaces at the back of the restaurant are filled before you send folks to park there. Bringing out some additional helpings to the main course was a family touch but not necessary. Dessert was not consistent - we won't be back."

  • "We have been here many times and this is a favourite. The food is always fantastic, no regular fanfare here. The menu keeps changing to keep it interesting. Tuesdays are fun as they take away the menu and you decide on one of two new dishes Chef Jenny creates for that night. The staff are outstanding. The Spanish wine tasting night with the Spanish meals is not one I will ever miss again, a wonderfully unique experience. "

  • "Vero is one of our favorite restaurants in Calgary. The service is always superb, we have never had an issue. The food is superb and the chef just took a sabbatical in spain, with super results. There is a wide variety, portions are good and the combinations great. We had the Brussel sprouts carmelized, great and an arugula salad with artichoke fritters, super. Main course was a lamb dish, not cheap at 39 but very good size and wonderful tasting. Dessert was a creme Brulee, one of the best we had. Wine choices are always interesting. Vero is not cheap but for calgary fair and the overall experience wonderful."

  • "Took my family here to celebrate my mom's birthday. It turned out to be Steak&Frites Wednesday, which ended up being a very nice surprise. I liked that they had a fish or veggie dish for those who wanted to opt out of the steak. Great price, and the food was cooked to perfection! It's a small space, but in the cosy way where you don't feel like you're too close to the neighbouring tables. The staff were friendly, but still professional, and explained each dish that came out with confidence. We will definitely be back!"
