  • "We really enjoyed the "welcome" and the escort to our table. The scallops are beautifully prepared and so sweet! I enjoyed my 28 day dry-aged boneless rib-eye in a truffle demi glace. Amazing! So very tender and flavorful. He ordered the elk with a fig demi glace. It had a slight hint of the gaminess of elk, but very tender. Lovely! For dessert we shared the chocolate creme brûlée. Excellent choice:) All of the staff were friendly and well informed on the menu, to include the wine menu. The only thing that took away from our experience had nothing to do with Vernon's, but the other diners. Several tables around us had patrons wearing flip-flops, shorts, and t-shirts -definitely not "business casual or better". I hope to return!"

  • "I had postponed my visit to Vernon's for a couple of years as I knew it one of the more expensive places in Albuquerque, if not the most expensive. A family special occasion arose, and I decided it was time. The speakeasy ambiance is both "cute" and "dark." The prices are high for Albuquerque; the least expensive entree that I remember was $ 40 for the medallions of beef. The service is absolutely excellent (ask for Sean if you go--nice guy, impeccable service). We tried two appetizers; both were the highlights of the dinner: scallops and brochette. The salads were unexceptional. Our entrees, filets and medallions, were merely satisfactory, nothing special. The bread was okay. Next time, I'll stick to cocktails and appetizers."

  • "We had a fine experience at Vernon's. Not our first time there and this visit did not disappoint us. The waitress informed us of a new wine listing that did not apear on the menu. We tried the new wine and found it wonderful. The cocnut shirmp appetizer was huge and delicious. We followed that with the french onion soup and steaks. Everything was done perfectly and we never felt rushed or hurried. Thanks to everyone at Vernon's for a great experience, again."

  • "I would have preferred having seating in the room with the live entertainment, but was not asked or told that was available. We were seated at the back of the room in a corner that only had a view into the room where the waiters computer screen was located - and seated looking at a wall within an enclosure. Was not pleased with the seating arrangement. Birthday desert was not what I expected. Very simple and bland. I felt this could have been a better dining experience."

The real experience started when I received an email with the password and then a follow up phone call to confirm the reservation, to confirm that I'd received my password, and to inquire if the reservation was for a special occassion (It was.). Great customer service! The password requirement was awesome and fun as was the whole speakeasy experience. Dinner was amazing and delicious. The drinks were great. And dessert was absolutely sinful. Our waiter was perfect. The overall experience is well worth it. Yes, it might cost a little more than people in this area are accustomed to but budget accordingly and enjoy yourselves because Vernon's is worth every penny!"

That has never happened to us before, I hope it was a one time thing. Other than that, the food was EXCELLENT. The wedge salad is a must and the lobster bisque is full of fresh lobster. The filet is fork tender, I recommend having bleu cheese on top. You cannot go wrong at Vernon's."

  • "Vernon's has some of the best steaks in Albuquerque! Full of flavor, you can cut them with a butter knife, especially if you order them medium rare. Everyone was willing to serve your needs, even if they weren't your assigned server. Listen to the waiter's recommendations and take them into consideration when ordering. I was going to order medallions, but when he heard I wanted them medium rare, he recommended the filet instead since he said medallions were for those who like well-done pieces of beef. I am sooo glad he did! Parking is really scarce on a Saturday evening, unless you dine very early. Be prepared to park on side streets, which are fine, but it's a bit of a walk. Better to let your passengers off, and then park."

  • "Big props for atmosphere but the "rules", (if you see a celebrity don't interrupt his/her dining for autographs) were off-putting as it's unlikely celebrities are similarly warned to behave. When first seated, we were rushed to place orders but once selections were made service proceeded at a relaxed pace. The staff was attentive but discreet & didn't interrupt our conversation to carry out duties. Cocktails, bacon martini/pink boa, were excellent. Lettuce wedge salad didn't need onions but Caesar was perfect. My mid-sized steak was perfectly cooked. I hesitated to ask for a leftovers box, but next time I'll take 1/2 home! Truffle infused Yukon potatoes were good. Dessert & coffee was delightful. The pianist was accomplished and fun."

  • "Wanting to do something unique and special for Father's Day, I decided to treat my parents to Vernon's. I wasn't able to make a reservation for Sunday lunch, so, we went Friday night. We have been there before and it just ok. This visit was a pleasant change. We have been to Marcelo's, Rancher's Club, Zinc, Vintage, Monte Vista, etc., but Vernon's definitely has the absolute best steaks in Albuquerque. We had prime rib, a filet and a ribeye. All were cooked to perfection, excellent flavor, right temperature, served with delicious sides. The truffle oil Yukon mashed potatoes are incredible. The only disappointment was the dessert, as the Capone was more of a dessert shot than a chilled dessert, too runny, but great flavor."
