  • "I chose this location due to the Trip Advisor rating as #1 in philadelphia. Vernick is good, but not the best in philadelphia. We sat outside which was fine. Not very scenic but comfortible. Very active sidewalk scene if not at the center of rittenhouse square. I had the organtic chicken wit the tomato and cheese salad (a variation of a caprese). The tomato salad was spectacular and a touch spicy, which. I like a lot. The chicken was okay, under cooked so a left half. My friends had the day fish and rabbit. By all accounts the rabbit was exceptional. The catch of the day was very good as well. One highlight was our waitress, she was exceptionally nice and just the right level of attentivness. A very good experience all in all."

  • "Best blueberry pie ever! Leave room for dessert. Also, very interesting appetizers with grilled toast with different toppings including one with fried green tomatoes and another with avocado and spicy radish. Delicious. Entrees are good too. Great food."

  • "The staff were friendly and informal, welcoming and attentive. The food was excellent, We had the skirt steak and the cod. Both were perfectly cooked and had complex mixes of flavors that made each bit a delight. We will return!"

  • "This restaurant has it all. They really thought of their decor right down to the books they put on the shelves and the mason jars filled with their chili oils. We sat in the back of the restaurant near the kitchen and it was great to see the food as it was coming out. They are so organized. Each type of employee has a different "uniform" and the place it just awesome. The food had so many layers of complex flavor. I wish I could eat there everyday. The warm ricotta with rhubarb and basil is delicious. As well as the grilled artichoke and crispy potatoes. Order those 2 dishes together so that you can dip your potatoes into the artichoke's saffron aioli sauce. My husband's rabbit was great too. We'll be back."

  • "A poor second to Talula's Garden! After reading the reviews we were really looking forward to Vernick but it was loud, the food was good - but not great - and the beer list small and not very interesting. Food had too much finishing salt and it did not live up to it's hype."

  • "This is by far the best restaurant in Philly in my opinion. My companion and I ordered 8 items total to share and they were all great, two of which were life changing dishes that I'll never forget (peaches with lamb belly confit, and mussels with cous cous and sweet corn). I was here when it first opened and had a similar experience... the arctic char crudo is also amazing. Service was extremely attentive and knowledgeable without being invasive."

  • "Vernick is always a tough reservation to get during peak dining times. Everything is top-flight and you always see chef Greg Vernick working in the open kitchen. The servers are very knowledgeable and accommodating. You can dine with standard "large plate" entrees or mix it up with various components on the menu--pastas, small plates, salads, big plates, etc. The blueberry pie dessert was more than enough for two--huge. A must-visit for foodies."

  • "Everything was tremendous. The octopus was so delicious I laughed after tasting it. Fresh, simply prepared, perfectly prepared flavorful food. Inspired."

  • "My highly anticipated visit to Vernick fell a little flat. Everything was fine, but my husband did not enjoy his sea bass dinner at all, which put a damper on the meal. I have to say that the steak tartar toast was by far the best thing we ate all evening and the lamb confit and peach salad, while being ridiculously small for the price, was absolutely delicious. With so many great restaurants in Philly, we do not often revisit, but I think we will take another stab at Vernick, even if the only thing we order is the toasts!"

  • "Every time we dine at Vernick we try something different and have been pleasantly surprised how amazing each dish is. The tastes are unlike anything we have ever experienced. Among all the options in Philly, it says a lot to say this currently is our favorite spot. The service is outstanding as well."

  • "Best drink (old fashioned), best appetizer (crab toast), and best dessert (blueberry pie) I have ever eaten. Greg Vernick gets my vote for best chef in Philly."

  • "We elected to try a bunch of small plates. Try a variety of toasts (notably the beer tartare and the fried green tomatoes if available). The Tuna poke with sweet soy and the chili glazed octopus are also winners."

  • "Having read great online reviews, vernick didn't disappoint. We ordered the spicy radish/avocado and tuna poke starter, followed by the roasted seabass and pork chop, and a side of sautéed greens. We finished with carrot cake. Every dish we had was excellent, perfectly cooked, seasoned, presented. Would have loved to try everything on the menu as we looked around and all the dishes others were having looked just as good as ours. The tables around us all cleaned their plates, as we did. Will definitely return next time we have the chance."

  • "Food was excellent. We had small plates which gave us a variety. Every dish was perfectly prepared, not over-done. Loved the grilled peach w lamb, fried green tomatoes and chilled seafood plates. Had sorbets for dessert (too full for anything more). They were fruity and bright, not "iced", excellent!"

  • "I would never recommend this restaurant Philadelphia has great restaurants but not this one everything was over salted. We sent back one of the appetizers and it came back extremely spicy which it wasn't supposed to be at all. Main courses were also over salted This was not a good dining experience"

  • "I had been wanting to go here for a long time and it's hard to get a Saturday night reservation at a decent time. First I should note that I originally made it at 5:30 as that is all they had but when they called the day before to reconfirm I asked for something later and was able to move it to 6:30. First the setting was great - had a window seat overlooking Walnut St with pretty flower boxes and great view. The food was so good. Tuna poke was amazing! Grilled romaine salad with cherries, figs and cheddar cheese - yum! My 3rd small dish of the lamb/peach salad was OK but the other 2 made up for it."

  • "This place lives up to all the reviews and rumblings. From the service to the food, it is a great place to go if you are a foodie. I would recommend the fire roasted platters because you cannot go wrong. It's also a must for dessert to save room for the blueberry pie. Enjoy!"

  • "We received a gift certificate to Vernick. We saved it for a special occasion, and we are glad we did. We were seated at the pen windows overlooking Walnut Street. it was just lovely. The food was very inventive, and each course had a surprise. We would never have thought of some of the combinations, and enjoyed it all. Will definitely go back."

  • "Wow! What a food!!! We asked to speak to the manager and my wife was telling him for 10 min how amazing everything was. I am very picky and critical with food, but this was an absolutely fantastic experience. Next time we are in Philadelphia, I will be sure to make reservations here! I do not want to name our favorite dish - everything was so exceptional that singling out any one would be unfair... "

  • "Loved Vernick! Our group of four was early for our dinner reservation so we started out at the bar. The bartenders concocted unique drinks that went down a little too smooth... The "special" was coconut milk, rum, basil, and strawberries. In other words, heavenly. We sampled a good portion of the menu and not one thing disappointed. The tuna poke was delicious and the oysters were outstanding! The restaurant was very accommodating and the chef sent out a few special items which were thoroughly enjoyed. Sitting upstairs by the open windows is the way to go. "

  • "We love this restaurant. This is the second time we’ve been here and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The atmosphere is beautiful and we like that the tables aren’t too uncomfortably close together. The servers are incredibly knowledgeable and you can tell they all have a passion for food/wine. It’s really nice to know that not only the chefs love what they serve but the servers do as well. Last but certainly not least the food is absolutely delicious! Innovative, fresh, tasteful, etc. We highly recommend this restaurant. "

  • "Excellent experience. I had the rabbit and my husband had cod. Both delicious. Oysters were excellent as was the rhubarb berry crumble. Service was very pleasant and not overwhelming. Will will go back. I especially liked sitting near the open kitchen. Excellent wine that was suggested by our server. A nice mix of people of all ages."

  • "This is where to go (if you can get a table) to experience modern fine dining. It's not stuffy or overly formal, but it has a quiet elegance that really works. The "& Drink" in the name is true.. they have a wonderful hand in cocktails and what they offer is both classic and innovative. The food is excellent. While the menu is a bit vague, the servers can help construct a memorable meal. The food was of a uniformly high quality and the presentation and service clearly matched the output of the kitchen. The meal is not rushed but it's no pokey either. The price point is very fair for the overall quality of the experience."

  • "We were seated in the rear dining room near the kitchen. Really like the ambiance in that room. The kitchen was fairly quiet, it was earlier in the evening. The sent out a couple of amuse bouche, the first a carrot soup, second a piece of fish with a great sauce. I ordered the mackerel tiradito and my friend ordered the beef tartare, I far preferred the mackerel, though the beef was also good. My dinner was the rabbit w/sausage, and it was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. I only tried a few bites of the seafood salad my friend had ordered, not sure it was something I would order again. Can't wait to go back and try some more of the small plates and raw selections."

  • "This place is the real deal! Everything we ate was amazing, the pacing was nice, the drinks were interesting. We'll definitely be back!"

  • " It was too noisy, even by 7PM, and the daily fish special at $54 was overcooked and very salty. It was not worthy of the price and its presentation was quite unappetizing. $14 for a glass of wine that sells for $14 for the bottle is gouging. One appetizer was worthy, but the steak tartare presentation also left much to be desired. It tasted good, but looked like spam spread out on a large piece of toast cut into 3 sections. We skipped dessert to escape the noise. Plus, the furniture is uncomfortable and looks cheap. We would not recommend it to friends. "

  • "Everything we had was very good, but none of it really blew my socks off other than the two amuse-bouches (carrot soup and tuna sashimi). The oysters were solid, the avocado-radish toast was very good, the artichoke was good but the sauce was a little generic, the crispy potatoes were very crispy, and the two small plates we got (black pepper papardelle with lamb ragout, and octopus with spicy chile) were both good but not outstanding. The best parts of the meal were the amuse-bouches, the dessert (a take on rhubarb pie with ice cream), and the delicious cocktails"

  • "Good food with some creative dishes. Nice ambiance with floor to ceiling windows open on a pleasant evening. Service friendly but a bit disorganized (multiple requests for drinks, had to ask two servers for the check for instance). Will definitely go back."
