really enjoyed Vermilion. Shared several small plates with friends. The Scallops were fabulous! Service was good with several people bringing food and filling water. Wine list was on the short side and fairly expensive for the quality. Ordered a bottle of Gigondas and was very dissapointed with the small water goblets it was served in. Mango mojito was wonderful, stick with mixed drinks!

We had an unpleasant experience at this restaurant. We had an 8:45 reservations for a party of 5. Our order was taken at 9:30. 3 people ordered the ;amb shank. 20 mins later the waitress comes and says they dont have it and brings the menus back. They order new items. Then she comes back and says now they have it. So at 10:30 our food was finally served and it was just average. My butter chicken was cold because it was probably waiting outside for the lamb shanks. Our appetizers were okay. My lentil soup was too spicy. In my opinion, this place is over-priced for what it offers. I'd rather dine across the street at Kevin knowing that I will get exceptional food and service.

There was an extra item on our bill (for $9) that we did not order, and I am not at all sure it was an honest mistake. If the restaurant has a policy of offering the 1000 points (equal in value to $10) incentive through Open Table and then making up that amount by putting bogus charges on the bill, it is truly despicable.

My boyfriend and I went to Vermillion for our 2nd anniversary. I'd say I loved it if it wasn't so expensive and the interior and furniture pieces were more well-thought. We are big time foodies and wouldn't mind to spend a lot of money for great food, but for Vermillion, we didn't even get nicely full after eating $200 worth dinner. Some dishes were good, but most of them were okay to pretty good. Their cappucino was very good. I don't think I'd go back to Vermillion because I'm sure there are many other places that are more spectacular.

  • I would not recommend Vermillion
    OpenTable Diner Since 2001
    Dined on 4/4/2008
I would not recommend Vermillion under any circumstances. I have never walked out of a restaurant prior to my visit here. We waited over 2 hrs for our entrees to arrive - obviously trouble in the kitchen. We were entertaining clients, the whole situation was extremely embarrassing - We would not have been able to enjoy any meal there after the 2 hours of frustration. Even when our three appetizers came to the table, one of them was wrong & each of them came at differt times - with extremely lenghty waits between each of them. The manager & waitstaff knew how poorly things were being handled so they were not surprised when we finally said enough!

Why isn't this place crowded every night? The food, for someone who cooks, is as an inspiration. Not that I could duplicate, but I can learn. A complaint for all restaurants with a wine list: Who grew the grapes, who made the wine. "Produced and bottled" is what I look for, at the least. So, let the server know.

It started off great with the food, but ended horribly when I got a severe case of food poisoning! I believe it was due to the Crab Konkani since that was the only dish I ate that my husband didn't. My assumption is that, as we ate early since we were going to a show, they must have reused the cream sauce from the day before. Very unfortunate!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed the menu and our food selections. However, prices were high. We were particularly surprised that the 1/2 filet and 1/2 lobster item was priced at $50.00 of which our waiter did not inform us. Each item individually priced was in the mid-$30 so it was not anticipated that there would be a 50% premium on the combo. Vermillion is truly a unique and enjoyable restaurant in the midst of so many steakhouses!
