Verjus RestaurantOutstanding foodWe went there for Mother's Day, and normally have low expectations of good restaurants for that day. When I called for directions, i was told there was no different menu for Mother's Day, and the pricing was the same - it was. The food was outstanding - we had the escargot appetizer and the Beef a la Bourguignonne Verjus Style as a main course. Normally, when you got to a French restaurant, you are concerned about portion sizes. That is not a problem at Verjus. Th appetizer could have easily been shared, except I was glad I didn't - it was that good. The main course was amazing - did not need a knife to cut the beef, and my wife had leftovers. Spread the word for lunch as they are a bit too quiet. Don't let that worry you - the food is fantastic and it is reasonably priced. A quiet Wednesday night, great food.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was okay.This restaurant was overall good. It was very pricey and I didn't find that the food was out of this world. However, it's a good place for a first date (if you don't mind spending $200 (incl. appetizers, wine, dinner, dessert and tip). They did give us a $20 return credit since our bottle of (French) wine cost almost $50.

They have a unique set of cocktails, some featured wines which were very good and the food was fresh and well prepared. The amuse bouche was a pate filled nosh, the mushroom in pastry appetizer and salad were just right and the Idaho trout sweet and moist. Desserts were unique and just right as well.

We were told that the main dining room was for 3's & 4's only. We were shuttled to an adjoining room. Afterwards we saw many 2's seated in the main dining room. In a way it was ok because we were three ladies who wanted the time to talk in an unrushed way. However, our reservation was for 7:30 and we did not have the main food for an hour and a half. The appetizers came quickly which helped. The atmosphere was romantic. The food was delicious and the presentation was lovely. Our server was highly knowledgable and recommended a perfect wine to compliment my meal. We have dined there a half dozen times and are never disappointed. Great food, civilized atmosphere in the tradition of Chanterelle. Never judge a book by its cover. We live in Oregon, every time we visit the Springfield area we have dinner or lunch at Verjus. The ambience is comfortable, the menu has a little to please all palates, service is excellent, and the food always well prepared and delicious.
