  • "Previous dining experiences at Veritas were fantastic. Saturday evening missed the beat by 1) not lowering the lighting in the restaurant moving the ambience from lunch to dinner and 2) too much noise - the piano and the sound system were being played at the same time and you couldn't hear the piano for the music being played. We were one of two tables to complain and it took too long for the management to turn the music off. A little polish to attention and Veritas climbs the ladder."

  • "Veritas really is an outstanding restaurant. We prefer it to Perry's and comparable restaurants. Perry's is certainly top tier in it's own right - we just like Veritas even more."

  • "Wait staff where attentive. Food was overly salty. Get your money's worth else where. I recommend my very large family nit to come here."

  • "Wow! We made reservations a couple of hours before dining and noted that it was our anniversary. The restaurant had a sweet little notecard signed by all of the staff wishing us a Happy Anniversary when we arrived. Our server was friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. We thoroughly enjoyed the asparagus appetizer, balsamic scallops, and duck confit. The restaurant gave us a complimentary dessert, which was also wonderful!"

  • "We had dinner at Veritas last Sat and will not go back. Inexperienced waiter poured 2nd bottle of wine on top of the 1st bottle and poured too much. What happened if the second bottle is not acceptable? He did not give us plates for fried lobster appetizer and we have to use bread plate. He served entree before I finished my salad. He removed dinner plates and not wait till all have finished. I ordered mixed grill - steak was over-salted, duck leg is taste-less and hard. Lamb is acceptable. My son ordered tuna rare and received a medium well piece. Another guest ordered mussels and is very salty. She also ordered and paid for a lobster bisque special, and probably received a shrimp bisque. Food & Service does not equal to price!"

  • "Veritas never disappoints!! Since changing over from the Post Oak Grill (which was fabulous) Veritas has not missed a beat. Each time we are there everything is just right!! And try dining in the wine room ( no extra charge, first ask, first get). It is chilly, wear something warm (really) but the atmosphere is wonderful and oh so quiet so conversation is so easy. We love it!!"

  • "Made our first visit to Veritas for lunch. Found they have many fixed price lunch specials ($14) the includes soup or salad and entrée. I had Cesar salad and three cheese ravioli with blackened chicken. My wife had the Chicken Dominic. Both were very good and the service as always was outstanding. We will be back for lunch."

  • "Food was fine, not bad and not great. Went on Valentine's Day with fixed menu. Good quality and speed of food coming out to the table for appetizer and then soup/salad…then a pretty long wait for entree…had ribeye…ordered med rare, came out medium…had good flavor but not cooked right and kind of thin. This place used to be Post Oak Grill that had ok food, but not a good value. We were hoping that it was under new management and might be a new favorite spot, but we saw familiar employee faces and experienced the same ok food at prices beyond the quality served. I'm all about spending $200+ for a dinner for two (at other steak places), but the quality here at Veritas just doesn't warrant the price."

  • "sat down on Valentines night. No one took our order for 35". At about an hour, our appetizer showed. Then rapidly our salad showed, and then immediately, our sorbet showed. Unbelievably, our waiter delivered our main course before we even had a chance to get part way thru the sorbet; so we are eating sorbet while the main course is in front of me getting cold. It was plain weird. Tried and Tried to get our check and finally had to get up and start walking out. Amazingly, our waiter appeared out of the blue !. A long time ago someone told me to do this if we could not get our check. Wow, it worked. it was Valentines day so it was busy, but that should have been mitigated by the Prix Fix menu."

  • "If a restaurant charges $44.00 for a NY strip and calls themselves a steak house they should be able to offer a great steak . My steak was no where near worth the price. Maybe $32.00. I will say that their deep fried asparagus was very good as well as their mussels. But overall the meal was over priced. I had the cheese cake for dessert that was billed as New York style. Honestly, I can get better cheese cake at my grocery store. It's not that this restaurant was bad, it is just over priced. Even though the waiter was very attentive our meal was rushed as we were no where near finishing our salads when our main course arrived. This restaurant has a chance to offer a great dining experience but they have a lot to work on."

  • "We were seated in their wine room which meant we were the only table in the room. It was awesome. It is a bit cold in there as they keep the ambient temperature around 60 degrees for the wine, but they offered us wraps to keep warm, a very nice touch Great food, great service, great restaurant."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner! We celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary at Veritas and were not disappointed with anything! We had the prosciutto wrapped scallops which were amazing, Rib Eye steak with Crab cake that were cooked perfectly, Fried Green tomatoes STUNNING! For dessert they presented us with a Tres Leches cake that had Happy Anniversary written with a raspberry sauce. AMAZING Food!"

  • "Everything was very nice. I wish the piano player played more and we could hear it better in the back of the restaurant. Also for some reason our waiter never came to pick up the check, had to take it to the front myself."

  • "We love this restaurant. Very warm inviting and a great place for a romantic dinner for two or for a night out with friends. We love the food. It is always fresh and very good. The winelist is great and the service is excellent. We have been back many times and Veritas has become one of our favorite places to go and eat in Sugar Land. You will not be disapointed. The manager is very attentive and cares about the clients and we always feel welcome. The only thing we wished for are some better choices on the deserts. Great place."

  • "We ordered the filet and it was cooked to perfection, very tender that you can leave the knife on the table. Tried the fried asparagus on a whim, they are lightly battered, with still some crunch to the asparagus, glad we did. Sitting in the restaurant, you could listen to and enjoy the pianist playing from the bar, but not too loud where you couldn't talk at the table. The server was very attentive and on the ball. When the wrong wine was delivered, she immediately remedied the situation."

  • "This restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. There is a water view, good lighting and décor, and a piano player that set a nice mood. The flavor of the food was a little lacking, especially for the price. The ingredients all seemed fresh, and the food was prepared well, I just found the flavor a little flat. I would probably recommend this place for some special occasions or maybe meeting friends for some wine, but I'll be trying out some other places near by before I go back."

  • "Would recommend this restaurant - great food, service, everything!"

  • "The only reason this did not get 5 stars is because the service was a bit too slow for us. I understand prolonging a good experience and not rushing through dinner but every time we wanted to order we had to call our waiter over. Order drinks...wait. order an appetizer.....wait....more drinks.....wait.....finally order the main course. The food was all excellent and the wine list is extensive. If the service had been just a bit more on the ball then it would have been perfect. Great for a nice night out!"

  • "Took my wife to Veritable to celebrate her 50th birthday. Greeted promptly and seated. Big wine list, appetizers (crab cakes and mussels) were great. Filet with chunk crab meat added cooked just as ordered. Seared Mahi was melt in your mouth tender. For dessert, you have to try the bread pudding. Great evening."

  • "We went to Veritas to celebrate our anniversary. We requested a table with a view if the lake, which was fantastic. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the wine and food. He was very, very polite and friendly. We started with the fried lobster bites, which were amazing! For our main course, I had a filet and my husband had a salmon dish. Both were overcooked a bit. Overall we had a good experience. It's definitely a place to go for a special occasion. Not quite sure we would really go back, to be honest. The food itself was a bit of a letdown. It didn't seem to be worthy of the price. Maybe they were just having an "off" night with the food that night. But the restaurant itself is extremely nice, as are the people there."

  • "I requested a quite booth away from activity. When we arrived the hostess sat us at a booth in the Bar. When I mentioned it to the server she had the manager come over and offered to move us. The server was attentive and the manger checked on us several times during the evening. The staff is wonderful, unfortunately the food is not. My husband started with the escargot – they were tough with a rubbery texture! I had the Brandied Pear salad and it was delicious. The Lobster Ravioli was an interesting presentation but the pasta was doughy. The steak, while cooked medium rare was tough and tasteless. We ordered an after dinner port at 25.00 a glass, there was so much sediment in the port that it was cloudy – and enough that it was undrinkable."

  • "We were referred to Veritas by a friend of my moms, and we were not disappointed. We celebrated my husband's birthday on Saturday. The food was excellent. My husband had the NY Strip special; I had the Chilean Sea Bass special; and our son had the duck. We were not disappointed. Our waiter, Salvador was VERY attentive. The restaurant even surprised us by providing a yummy birthday treat, slice of tres leche cake, for my husband's birthday. We will DEFINITELY be going back!"
