From the rose petals sprinkled on our table, to the hand-sign congratulations card and a complimentary Tres Leches (which we declined in lieu of cheesecake) the experience was superb. Our waitress was highly attentive to our every need, coming by only when appropriate which allowed our private conversation to proceed uninterrupted. The steaks were outstanding as were the various sides dishes. I ordered the bone-in prime rib that was fork tender and served with a Cabernet reduction. Who needs steak sauce when you have a reduction? We will be back again and again. This place is a gem in Sugar Land."

  • "The restaurant is beautiful, the service was great. The food was expensive, and had great potential, but fell short of the price. Our shrimp and scallops were over cooked and there were unexpected flavors that didn't always work - like the spice on our wedge salad. But the bread was good, the sea bass was said to be good, and I enjoyed my risotto. If the price point had been lower ($120 before taxes for 3 people, no alcohol, appetizers or desserts), or the food a little better, this would have been a home run."

  • "I took my parents for their anniversary celebration and had a wonderful experience. The table was decorated with rose petals & a celebration card signed by the staff. They were also treated with complimentary dessert with "happy anniversary" written on the plate. The entrees were delicious and the service was exceptional. "

  • "The entrees were OK but very expensive - $44 for sea bass special. The appetizer of calamari was like bad bar food - tough, brown, greasy thick breading with greasy onions and jalapenos thrown in - not a nice version of this popular dish. Waiter never came by - and the place was half empty. The wine list is very expensive and the waiter knew nothing about the wine. They do not have a Sommelier and the owner was not on premise to help. I had to Google the wine selections to find out about them. Go to Perry's next time. Did not have Limoncello or white Sambuca liquours. This place does not pay attention to details, the service is amateurish, the quality of the food is just acceptable and awful in some cases. And it is very expensive."

  • "I really did not feel that a long explanation about Happy Hour pricing only being in the bar and outside, considering, that the restaurant was not busy and the weather outside was terrible. I think that that could be managed internally, without involving the customer. The waiter was very good, patient and helpful. Having our entrees split by the chef, was just wonderful."

  • "This has to be one of the best bars in Sugar Land, the ambiance, the service, the martinis and the view. We also enjoyed the excellent food service and we split a superb entree which included a steak and crab cake. I am not sure that this is a great value, based on the cost of our shared dinner and just two glasses of wine, but we will go again, probably to the 4-7 happy hour bar food specials and drinks. "

Saturday evening missed the beat by 1) not lowering the lighting in the restaurant moving the ambience from lunch to dinner and 2) too much noise - the piano and the sound system were being played at the same time and you couldn't hear the piano for the music being played. We were one of two tables to complain and it took too long for the management to turn the music off. A little polish to attention and Veritas climbs the ladder."

  • "Wow! We made reservations a couple of hours before dining and noted that it was our anniversary. The restaurant had a sweet little notecard signed by all of the staff wishing us a Happy Anniversary when we arrived. Our server was friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. We thoroughly enjoyed the asparagus appetizer, balsamic scallops, and duck confit. The restaurant gave us a complimentary dessert, which was also wonderful!"

  • "We had dinner at Veritas last Sat and will not go back. Inexperienced waiter poured 2nd bottle of wine on top of the 1st bottle and poured too much. What happened if the second bottle is not acceptable? He did not give us plates for fried lobster appetizer and we have to use bread plate. He served entree before I finished my salad. He removed dinner plates and not wait till all have finished. I ordered mixed grill - steak was over-salted, duck leg is taste-less and hard. Lamb is acceptable. My son ordered tuna rare and received a medium well piece. Another guest ordered mussels and is very salty. She also ordered and paid for a lobster bisque special, and probably received a shrimp bisque. Food & Service does not equal to price!"

  • "Veritas never disappoints!! Since changing over from the Post Oak Grill (which was fabulous) Veritas has not missed a beat. Each time we are there everything is just right!! And try dining in the wine room ( no extra charge, first ask, first get). It is chilly, wear something warm (really) but the atmosphere is wonderful and oh so quiet so conversation is so easy. We love it!!"

  • "sat down on Valentines night. No one took our order for 35". At about an hour, our appetizer showed. Then rapidly our salad showed, and then immediately, our sorbet showed. Unbelievably, our waiter delivered our main course before we even had a chance to get part way thru the sorbet; so we are eating sorbet while the main course is in front of me getting cold. It was plain weird. Tried and Tried to get our check and finally had to get up and start walking out. Amazingly, our waiter appeared out of the blue !. A long time ago someone told me to do this if we could not get our check. Wow, it worked. it was Valentines day so it was busy, but that should have been mitigated by the Prix Fix menu."

  • "Food was fine, not bad and not great. Went on Valentine's Day with fixed menu. Good quality and speed of food coming out to the table for appetizer and then soup/salad…then a pretty long wait for entree…had ribeye…ordered med rare, came out medium…had good flavor but not cooked right and kind of thin. This place used to be Post Oak Grill that had ok food, but not a good value. We were hoping that it was under new management and might be a new favorite spot, but we saw familiar employee faces and experienced the same ok food at prices beyond the quality served. I'm all about spending $200+ for a dinner for two (at other steak places), but the quality here at Veritas just doesn't warrant the price."

  • "Made our first visit to Veritas for lunch. Found they have many fixed price lunch specials ($14) the includes soup or salad and entrée. I had Cesar salad and three cheese ravioli with blackened chicken. My wife had the Chicken Dominic. Both were very good and the service as always was outstanding. We will be back for lunch."

  • "If a restaurant charges $44.00 for a NY strip and calls themselves a steak house they should be able to offer a great steak . My steak was no where near worth the price. Maybe $32.00. I will say that their deep fried asparagus was very good as well as their mussels. But overall the meal was over priced. I had the cheese cake for dessert that was billed as New York style. Honestly, I can get better cheese cake at my grocery store. It's not that this restaurant was bad, it is just over priced. Even though the waiter was very attentive our meal was rushed as we were no where near finishing our salads when our main course arrived. This restaurant has a chance to offer a great dining experience but they have a lot to work on."

It is a bit cold in there as they keep the ambient temperature around 60 degrees for the wine, but they offered us wraps to keep warm, a very nice touch Great food, great service, great restaurant."

We had the prosciutto wrapped scallops which were amazing, Rib Eye steak with Crab cake that were cooked perfectly, Fried Green tomatoes STUNNING! For dessert they presented us with a Tres Leches cake that had Happy Anniversary written with a raspberry sauce. AMAZING Food!"

  • "We ordered the filet and it was cooked to perfection, very tender that you can leave the knife on the table. Tried the fried asparagus on a whim, they are lightly battered, with still some crunch to the asparagus, glad we did. Sitting in the restaurant, you could listen to and enjoy the pianist playing from the bar, but not too loud where you couldn't talk at the table. The server was very attentive and on the ball. When the wrong wine was delivered, she immediately remedied the situation."
