We started with guacamole and a trio of salsas. They were all just right. My wife and I also ordered two flights of tequila to go with our apps which exemplified the difference between everyday tequilas and the unusual selection that is available here. The entrees were unusual, tasty, and well presented. The dessert was a wonderful Latin take on apple pie with cinnamon ice cream that alone would bring us back. The waiter, Kevin, was attentive but not overbearing and provided us with everything that we needed. We were able to course over selves and did not feel rushed. Verde might just be my new favorite. The food was excellent, as was the service. Our waiter was particularly good, with his meal and dessert recommendations.
There was not too much that my son could eat however! It was hard to find something that would suit his 9-year old palate. I like that restaurants are doing away with the Kids Menu with its bland generic choices, but maybe they could introduce "mini-portions" of regular menu items for kids and portion-conscious adults.

In addition to the everyday menu, Verde also offers special of the day soups, tacos and tamales. This was our first time visiting, but not the last. The house Margaritas are top notch. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. I had the brisket and sweet potato hash which was excellent. The corn and plantain biscuit and chorizo gravy are really enough on their own. Some of the picky eaters in our group weren't thrilled with the authenticity and unique flavors offered (they'd probably eat a hamburger and fries everyday for dinner if available), but the rest of us loved the menu selection as well as our food when it arrived! Our waiter was very nice, as well, and was happy to accommodate alterations to the dishes (for instance, I'm vegan, people wanted sauce on the side, etc). I had come here back when it first opened and wasn't very impressed, however now it seems they have gotten all initial kinks sorted out and I'd definitely recommend Verde to others!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat but can be pricey.The staff was very friendly and helpful! We were a party of five that suddenly grew to seven. On a very busy Friday night were able to find a table to better accommodate our group. The shift in waitstaff was handled wonderfully. All of our food arrived on time, to the correct person, and our drinks were always full.
The only complaint we had that night was about the price of the soup special - $30 for a bowl of soup with some fish and crayfish in it. It was a surprise when the bill came (special prices are not listed).
