Diner Reviews
  • "We enjoyed everything we ordered this time, and the sequencing and pacing of dishes was good--which last time it had not been. Sitting in the furthest back room avoids too much noise, if that's what you're after. But our fellow diners all over the restaurant seemed to be having a good time. Some were coming from the movie a couple of doors away--which maybe we will do next time."

  • "A friend was visiting from Florida and likes "Latin food" so I brought him here. The food was very good, expecially the chicken tacos (which go by some fancier name). The cheese appetizer was excellent, but the portion miniscule (you could read through the single slice of cheese, it was that thin) so I was glad that my friend didn't like it all that much. The service was attentive but not hovering, which we appreciated because my friend had a lot of talking to do and didn't feel at all rushed."

  • "Inventive drinks featuring tequilla. I go for the angry orange."

  • "I read several Yelp reviews before going to Verdad. I do not share any of the criticisms. Service was timely, we were seated immediately, and the food was superb. The only thing I will say is that it is quite expensive for tapas."

  • "We came for an interesting promotion involving trying cocktails and voting for the best. But, our waitress was awful. We sat down and received no introduction, no explanation of the menu, and no mention of the promotion. Just a 'what can I get you'. When we asked about the promotion, all she told us was that the promotion was only available with purchase. Seeing as we made a reservation for dinner, and therefore were obviously going to order dinner, this was an odd point of emphasis. She seemed offended that we asked about the advertised promotion. She did bring over our samples, but only one set for the table. This would have been fine except that other tables had one sample per person. Ruined the place for us. We won't be back."

  • "Tapas restaurant with a wide variety of dishes, each with fun presentations and tasty. A fun experience to have a meal there."

  • "when seeing classic cinema at Bryn Mawr Film Instiute, this is the best place to dine. Great small plate Spanish place with creative creations. some inconsistency among various dishes. huge selection of tequilla. Excellent white Sangria. Get a table in the font near the front window; it is quieter and fun to watch the passerrs-by (as they watch you). The further back in the restaurant you go, the noisier."

  • "We sampled, shared several dishes. Everything was EXCELLENT. The Mexican Mojito is now my favorite cocktail and will be back for another very soon."

  • "Lunch at Verdad last week. I've wanted to go here for years but hate to fight crowds. Summer is very slow and lazy in Bryn Mawr, so I suggest everyone go to lunch NOW to avoid the crowds. Our waiter was fabulous, he explained each item we ordered, and was always serving us ahead of our even having to request refills, etc. The food - Verdad is a very authentic take on the Spanish Tapas bars you'll find in Barcelona or Madrid. Our small bites, including the cheese board with cashews, slices of apple and a slice of cheese and bread. They have an express lunch menu which would be handy if you don't have siesta time after lunch. If you are looking for a light bite or something that isn't Italian, Mexican or Chinese try Verdad."

  • "After wanting to go for quite some time, finally made it here. My guest ordered some sangria and I ordered a tasty bottle of wine, she said the sangria was quite good. To start, we ordered the ceviche, iberico, and a cheese selection. The pork carnitas and scallops were really quite good, and my guest was still craving the potatoes the next day. Would definitely go back"

  • "Have eaten here before. Have had good experiences previously but this time the service just wasn't up to snuff. It took a long time to get our food. We had been there an hour before we received our food. The food itself was good. No complaints there, but our server was not very talkative and didn't give us any updates on when our food would arrive. It seemed like they had forgotten about us. Once the first dish arrived, the rest followed closely behind. So I'm not sure if the delay was in the kitchen because it's not always the server's fault. I'd still recommend going here I think this was just an anomaly. Food is good but doesn't blow the mind."

  • "I took my sister, who is a major food snob, to Verdad for her birthday dinner. She absolutely loved it. The food is fresh and very well prepared with interesting flavor combinations. Service was impressive. We will definitely go back."

  • "Phenomenal calamari and mojito's…best I've ever had. Amazing Seabass dinner. I was so impressed."
    Dined on 7/17/2014
  • "The food was great as were the cocktails. With that said the food came out way too fast. We were almost done the calamari before we even got our cocktail. We ordered 5 plates to share and we couldn't really enjoy them because we felt so rushed to finish one so the other plates already sitting on the table didn't get cold. My husband doesn't complain about anything and he even said as we were leaving that our res was at 630 and we were walking to our car by 715. I guess that's good if it's a weeknight or you have somewhere to be but that was our sat night. With that said the food was good and now we know we just have to order things one at a time."

  • "Lively (and good value) happy hour scene, and we were able to transition easily to our table for a wide selection of distinctive, flavorful small plates."
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "My sister went to Verdad for lunch and told me I have to go! I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was! Great Chef!! A nice and different treat on the Main Line. Will be going back. Service was a little bit slow."

  • "Relaxed atmosphere. good tapas choices, great location for before or after the movies."
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "We ordered too much food, actually, but enjoyed all the dishes. You gotta be good with meat at Verdad--I especially recommend the pork belly, but lots of the small plates were delicious. They also make a good caipirinha. My only negative is that the order of the dishes could be improved on (we ordered them all at once): the lobster frittata and the flatbread would have been better early, with the heavier dishes later."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "Had the tuna, short ribs and the salmon. They were all excellent. We definitely will be going back"

  • "Great food, fun atmosphere ! We got an " out of it " waiter, but the chef was so nice and again, food is yummy !"

  • "We celebrated my daughter's 21st here-- fabulous food, exciting cocktails, lovely staff. Sharing food makes for great conviviality. I have dined here 5 or 6 times and never been disappointed. PS. Go for the octopus crostini."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "I have dined at Verdad 4 times over the last couple of years and each time I have loved the food. Its uniuely seasoned, beautifully presented and tastes delicious. This is my local go to restaurant when I want to be sure that the food will be great."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "The food is good but not wonderful--Mexican-inspired dishes could be better done, although we like the fish tacos and often order them here."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "We stopped by after the movie "Chef" so we were a little hungry. Tapas style, happy to see lomo Iberico on the menu, nice wine and food was good nothing out of this world but hit the spot. Our server Mark was great, personable and knew his stuff."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "but prices not so great. Everything very artfully presented & top quality, but if you're really hungry, prepare to spend. My date complained about the tab (although, to be fair, he complains about everything)."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "We have always liked this place, but we hadn't been in a while -- the new menu is superb: harder to choose than usual. Since this purports to be tapas place, where you order multiple items, this didn't seem to be a problem -- until the food started arriving: The portions have grown substantially, so you can' really order lots of things per person -- any one is basically a meal in itself. Too bad, because everything was even better than before, so I'd like to go back and try every item on the menu; the only bad thing I can say about that is that it will require 20 visits...."

  • "This was my first time going to Verdad restaurant. It was fun! The food is a mix of Spanish style tapas made to share at the table, and entree dishes (We got both, and shared everything). Great sangria, both white and red. They have mojitos, in addition to a full tequila selection. Food was delicious. A neighborhood gem! Highly recommend going to if you live in the Ardmore/Bryn Mawr/Haverford area of the Main Line."

  • "Outstanding quality of the food. Waitress recommended 2-3 small plates per person... but size is actually medium plates...so come hungry but 2 / person will satisfy most."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "We were a party of two couples, and each of us had the lunch special (soup + a single taco). The kobe beef tacos were not great. The beef was tougher than skirt steak, and required fingers once the taco was in your mouth, as the strips were so long and tough that you couldn't bite them off. Awkward and not impressive, as kobe is supposed to be really high grade beef, right? The tortilla and sauce were nice, and the taco was large. Our tablemate got the carnitas taco and she liked it. The crab chowder tasted good, but was so thick/creamy it was more like a dip."

  • "Three of us dined at Verdad on the 7th. We had a round of drinks at the bar before sitting down and both bartenders were extremely attentive, hospitable and knew their wines/liquors. You must try the Mexican Mojito! Dinner was fabulous. We started out with the mahi tacos, DLT, chips and quacamole and the spicy rub tuna. All were amazing. Main courses to share included the mariscos and the pork belly. Both are out of this world. Marc was out server and took great care of us. All of the staff was attentive and accommodating. We can't wait to come back! "

  • "This great tapas and tequila restaurant is right next door to the Bryn Mawr movie theater. We arrived with only 45 minutes to spare, and the waiter enthusiastically took on the challenge, recommending items that would arrive rapidly and were still delicious! The booths are incredibly uncomfortable, so opt for a table. Otherwise, a great place to take your time, or enjoy something fast and light!"

  • "I was very pleased with the jalapeno infused tequila as well as the habañero infused blood orange margarita. I tried the calamari, chicken tacos, and seared mahi-mahi. All are great, but I would go back for the chicken tacos any day of the week!"

  • "Visited this place for the first time after passing by many many times. Glad we decided to try this nice Mexican tapas restaurant. The food in one word was excellent, service was very attentive, nice drink selection. Definitely will be back. Richard"
    Dined on 5/22/2014
  • "The food was absolutely wonderful but we had to wait about 45 min. It wasn't really the restaurant's fault, because the people that we were waiting on had already been there for 2 hours. Still, the long wait did put a damper on the whole evening."
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "For the past few years we have been coming for their mothers day brunch buffet but this year they had a set menu. While the food was excellent I hope they will return to the buffet again next year or I will have to find somewhere else to go"

  • "Tried Verdad for the first time during Happy Hour and had a great time. Great selection of drinks and wine and we ordered small plates at the bar. The short rib which was a bit expensive for it's size was amazing in every bite. The bar staff and waitress who helped us were polite, and knowledgeable about the offerings. The best I think I've had in Phila and this includes some expensive restaurants. I've heard the food quality can vary, but our experience was top notch. We will definitely return."

  • "Without question Verdad's quality is superior to any other restaurant in Bryn Mawr. Inspired food creations, gresh ingredients, caring enthusiastic wait staff, at a very reasonable price made for an exceptional Saturday evening dining experience. "

  • "My wife and I ate at Verdad shortly before seeing a movie at the theater next door. The food was first rate, and it was a nice dining experience. One thing I should add is that being seated upstairs is a bit of a double edged sword. It's nice in that it's quieter, but not so nice in that it seems like it makes service times longer, etc."
