The food was exceptional, I had the turkey burger, my husband had the cheeseburger and my DIL had the BLT. They all came with an abundance of really good fries.   • "A beautiful and relaxing setting makes lunch on the Veranda a delight. My husband and I each enjoyed a salad this time. I chose the Cobb which was light but flavorful and my husband chose the Market Salad with the addition of grilled yellow fin tuna. We also indulged in the crusty sourdough with tapenade which was a satisfying accompaniment. The service was swift and pleasant. Although surrounded by other diners the outdoor setting makes it easy to carry on a quiet conversation. All in all the Veranda is a good place to keep in mind."

  • "Overlooking the golf course this outdoor dining venue is one of the best in San Diego. Locals frequent the restaurant. And often make the resort a romantic get away. Check the nightly special. We went on Wednesday and they had 3 course prime rib dinner (all you can eat)."

  • "Beautiful ambiance on outdoor patio but food is problematic. Bread was stale and cold though served with a lovely sun dried tomato tapenade. Beet salad was delicious. Chicken was undercooked and hence unsafe to eat. Mashed potatoes were unsalvagable given off flavor and stone cold. Three tiny carrots were delicious but insufficient as an accompanying vegetable. Service was charming and attentive and when the waiter noticed how little I had eaten, he specifically came back to ask how the meal was and when I whispered the truth, they comped us dessert. Unfortunately the apple "tart" turned out to be a pie and a stale one at that."

  • "We met with friends hoping to sit out on the veranda. Weather did not cooperate. They had a nice buffet with an omelet station and the usual breakfast goodies. The French toast was good. We will go again and try their new restaurant whtch seemed to have an interesting menu."

  • "My wife and I had been traveling all day and we were tired and hungry. We had jumped across a couple of time zones so we were dazed and confused...and needed a spot to regroup. Our original reservation was for 8pm, but we needed to be cared for so we asked if we could move it up. The receptionist was so kind and we were instantly seated. Our server (Seth) was like an old friend and we soon had drinks, salad and soup to start. Shortly after we finished that our prime rib came and I don't know how anyone could make that dish taste better! The outside of the prime rib had a delicious bark, while the inside was done to the perfect "melt in your mouth" that we all dream about! The ambience was very wonderful...Just what we needed!"

  • "Reserved in advance, asked for table away from service areas and quiet (a work brunch planned) and hostess seemed unhappy we didn't like her 'selection' - wanted shade (got sun in our eyes) We went inside and nixed the patio. Our server, Jamie, 'forgot' to tell us what came with the omelets and I got potatoes (can't have gluten) had to scrap it off the plate. Food was excellent, chef did justice to both specialty omelets. Jamie was back with the check totaled before we were asked if we wanted anything else (yes, a latte). He then had to 'settle up' because he was checking out for the day - so we paid up. Felt very rushed and unwelcomed this time. Not like last visit, unfortunately when everyone was friendly, efficient and happy!"

  • "The scenery was actually the best part about this restaurant. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the ambiance. We waited a good 15 min. after being seated to have anyone come up and offer us anything, the first offer was for water, then another 10 min. just to put in our drink order. The slow service continued throughout the meal and although my scallops were very good and my husband's burger was okay, the taste of the food didn't constitute the price. It also would have been nice if the hostess would have offered us a table closer to the view of the golf course since their were plenty of open tables. I would only recommend this place maybe for a group getting together for drinks and just wanting to hang out in a relaxing atmosphere."

  • "Veranda is only great if you get to sit outside. We did not and it was more like a diner atmosphere. Would not want to spend the money if this is the ambience. Valentines evening got reservations on your website for 4:15 p.m. and your website said we would be able to be served the 3 course Valentine menu; however, when we got to the restaurant, they offered us the lunch menu. We had to wait 45 minutes so the chef could be ready to cook the Valentines menu at 5 p.m. Very disappointing. Was not allowed to be moved outside and so ate in a diner atmosphere for a nearly $200 tab."

  • "We have been many times but this time it was pretty empty when we arrived and it seemed like they had cut back on the wait staff. The bus boy was quick and attentive but the actual server seemed to take ages to arrive so much so that the hostess actually came over and asked if our server had been. When she did arrive she stated I've just come on I don't know the specials yet.Even getting the bill seemed to take forever in what was a very empty restaurant."

  • "We went to this restaurant with a group of 6 friends for dinner before our winter formal dance which was at the Aragon Ballroom also located at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. The food was delicious and the servers were extremely nice and on point when it came up to filling our cups. The outside live entertainment for the night was great and the hand towels in the bathroom were also of superior quality. The only downside was the short wait outside in the cold, but there were heating lamps scattered around the outside dining area so even that wasn't too negative. Also a little bit dark. But overall it was fantastic!!!"

  • "For the last two years, my sister and I have shared a birthday spa day at the RB Inn spa (lovely) and then lunch at the Veranda. As usual, the service is friendly and attentive and the food just right. The Veranda's menu is laid-back with salads, soup, sandwiches, burgers and a few main plates. I had the California burger, no bun, no fries and a small salad. My sister had the house salad with ahi. In both cases, the food was well prepared, fresh and just what we wanted... nothing heavy. Of course, the Veranda is lovely, looking out over the golf course. On this chilly day, the heaters kept us toasty and the fireplaces were going as well."

  • "We dine here frequently; but the Restaurant Week Special wasn't up to their normal standards. The steak was advertised as a New York Strip; but it was about half as thick as a "real" New York Strip. It was over a bed of mashed potatoes and green beans; both of which were not all that good. Fortunately, salad and dessert were great. Ambiance, as always, was superb and service was good. The wives had clam chowder and cobb salad; both of which were very good."

  • "I've dined here several times and have previously been very pleased. This was the first time for breakfast and it was our girlfriends holiday breakfast. Just four of us so not a big group to deal with at all. The service was very disappointing. Slow, inattentive, not engaged at all. Our server behaved as a standard order taker at best -- no eye contact no interaction, no suggestions and didn't even get things correct. My order ended up being wrong but we had waited so long I didn't even bother to bring it up. The food was good though overpriced ---which is usually not a problem because you normally get excellent service in a lovely setting so the higher price is expected. This time my $36 with tax and tip felt like a bit of rip off."

  • "very nice and large outdoor patio dining right along the golf course on the backside of the hotel which is a very nice building that fits with the area, not a high rise box but more of a countryside boutique hotel feel. my dish was very BLAH but the setting and service is quite good. perhaps other dishes are better but my Caesar salad with chicken was BLAH, had a much better one at local neighborhood place yesterday for 1/2 the price."

  • "Good dinner, but mixed reviews on the food. Appetizer was outstanding, very fresh, well presented and large portion size. New England Clam Chowder was "watery" wife sent it back and it was removed from bill. She has had this before and it has always been excellent, so this time was an anomaly. My crab and shrimp pasta was only so-so, shrimp a bit rubbery and pasta lacked enough sauce and was dry. Service was very good."

  • "Having recently moved to the area, we were not familiar with many upscale restaurants. I went to Open Table and we confirmed a reservation at the Veranda in the Rancho Bernardo Inn. Upon arrival, I inquired about the location of the Veranda. As we walked down towards the entrance we noticed the Avant restaurant and poked our heads in as the style and decor was very appealing. We stayed for a drink and after a conversation with the staff decided to dine there vs the Veranda. This spot also features an outdoor area that is super elegant. We were lucky enough to see a wonderful sunset, enjoy great food and have attentive service. A little slow with the bill but that's the price of a popular place. All in all, an outstanding experience."

  • "Not only is the food nearly perfect, but it's close enough to our house to be able to take our golf cart. The view of the golf course is fabulous. Our waitress was helpful, informative, and when she told us the specials for the day she also mentioned the prices without us having to ask. I so appreciate that. I ordered the apple and arugula salad, but did not want the bleu cheese so she readily substituted goat cheese, and when I asked for more dressing it was immediately brought out."

  • "We went to see a pair of our favorite musicians, Janet and Nathan. Never been before. Very nice ambiance and surroundings. Was very disappointed when told four out of seven of the beers on tap were unavailable, makes me wonder about the Verandas managements ability to get things done? If more than half of my taps were dry someone would be on the way to the brewery to get some fresh kegs?!?!? And I would be on the phone to my suppliers to find out why there were not enough spares."
