A word from Venue's Cafe
Located directly across from the Town Center Park, Venues Cafe is an American Bistro. The rustic interior is defined by rich finishes of brick, copper, wood and stone, with plush leather club chairs perched around a fireplace next to Venues' well-stocked wine cellar. It is in this setting that guests enjoy the finer things in life, which include great drinks, fine wines, premium draughts, HDTV sports, live entertainment and marvelous food.

Speaking of eats, the table d'hote here runs the gamut, from small plates of Ahi Tuna with Asian Slaw and Wasabi Sauce, Fish Tacos, to dinner entrees of Prime Cut Filet Mignon, Fresh Catch of the Day, Apple Brined Pork Chop stuffed with carmelized apple and Venues special Chicken Schnitzel with lingonberries.   • "This is no ordinary restaurant. There are plenty of choices in North Scottsdale, but it's worth the drive a few miles further to Carefree for this experience. We've been there a few times and we've always enjoyed it very much. The food, service, ambience, and wine selections are all terrific. Consider Venues for a special event. The upstairs private room is spacious (can hold 50-60) and it is as beautiful as downstairs, plus it has great views and excellent acoustics. The management and staff are professionals and perfectionists. Everything exceeded our expectations. Special shout-out to Chef Celine and to Catherine, Mark, and Al."

  • "The waiter said there were all kinds of beers. When I asked for one. He said no. When I asked for a second, he said no. Don't give high expectations with an opening remark on the full inventory of beer. When I asked for A-1 sauce for my filet, it took awhile to deliver. Then the bottle was practically empty. I asked for a replacement bottle and they had to search for a second and took awhile. When I asked for bread, he said they don't give bread to the table and don't have bread. I asked if they have sandwiches which means bread. He said they have rolls, not bread. I asked for that. He looked at me funny as if I was asking for gold. It took a long time to produce the rolls."

  • "It was Valentine's Day, BUT!!! After waiting 40 minutes for the appetizer, (which was old, tasteless hummus and required no cooking), we waited another 30 minutes for 2 different, dried-out chicken entrees which were almost inedible from overcooking. We brought most of that home and it could not be salvaged and wound up in the garbage. What a waste of money. The wine was good at $46/bottle, but we have the same wine at home which cost us $18 at Safeway. We made our reservations on-line and they could not honor our reservation, so we were forced to sit at the bar for the entirety of the long wait. Sorry, we can never go back for dinner. My husband had lunch there with a friend and it was okay, but not great."

  • "We went to Venues expecting a very good dining experience given the reputation and price. Great disappointment. Food was mediocre at best, not at the level expected for what was charged. My husband's steak was overdone, my seafood was okay but the rice and fish had a lot of mysterious oil. Service was terrible - we waited more than an hour for the entree and had not had appetizers. We noticed that happened to the neighboring table as well. Only plus was that you could eat outside. We won't go back - there are too many other choices"

  • "The restaurant was nice, but the service was lacking. My husband enjoyed his chicken but my steak was over done, our salads came out seconds before our meal, we were never asked if everything was ok or if we needed more drinks, even though our glasses were empty for a while. Not exactly a great first impression, but might give it a second chance, maybe we could get lucky and get a different server."

  • "2nd visit since NY Eve. Will never go back. In 6 weeks the wait staff has completely turned over. Our server was without a clue. Only 4 of 5 entrees showed up. Last was 20 minutes later. Owner "apologized". Table was cleared before the last guest served (20 minutes later that the others) had finished eating. Even took the water glasses!! Then the server came over and asked us to leave " . . . because we have another reservation waiting for that table. . .""

  • "We recently found Venue through Open Table and thought we would try it. Great spot! We loved the decor and the atmosphere was very inviting. Very comfortable restaurant and our server, Leslie, was great. We met the owner and appreciated her time in welcoming us. She also came over to speak with us after we told our server that the salmon was not cooked as requested. She was very apologetic and took great care of us. We would have given it a 5 for the food & overall except for this glitch with the salmon. We are sure it was a one off situation and will go back again next time we are in town. We are so glad we found it - love Open Table for just this reason - we find places that we would not have otherwise. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We expected it to be busy on Christmas Eve, but did not expect non-existent service! We spent well over two hours there and only saw our waitress when we tracked her down. The dinners were mostly average, except for mine, which was so salty it was inedible (the host agreed and offered a different side but this was 1 3/4 hours into the meal, so I declined). We were never offered an appetizer or dessert on the house, nor an apology, for our lengthy wait and lack of attention. The couple next to us (who arrived 15 mins after us and were served 15 mins before us) also had issues and were comped (different waiter). I have had good lunches there before, but we will not go there again."

  • "We were there on Christmas Day. The service was extremely poor. It took a long time for us to place our order and an even longer time to get our food. One person ordered a burger and it was overcooked. They did make him another and also offered to remove it from the check. I ordered a stuffed pork chop. They told us that it was the reason that it took so long to get our food. They should have said in front that it takes extra to cook and everyone is going to have to wait a long time for their food. In addition, it wasn't prepared as represented on the menus."

  • "A choice made from a short list of restaurants opened on Christmas day. Arrived1/2 hour after our scheduled reservation due to getting lost which was our fault but they sat us right away. Had the bone in pork chop. Very tender withcarmelized sauce. Mom had the chicken schnitzel w/lingonberries, very tasty. Looking forward to going back and having the brussel sprout salad. Due to their Christmas menu they were not able to accommodate that request."

  • "Beautiful place ,artwork is outstanding !!! I enjoyed my experience , except all 5 of us were aware of our waitress and her abruptness and being a bit rude . And this happened as soon as we arrived to table . Almost to the point where we felt we needed to ask for new waitress .Instead decided to enjoy our family time together. Other than that , I highly recommend the restaurant. I am gluten free also and have recommended this place to the Phoenix celiac groups ."

  • "Recommended as we visited Carefree Art Show. Dropped in late afternoon & sat on sunny patio. At this time of day, restaurant wasn't particularly busy - a few patrons sitting inside & out. Ordered bottled beer - they didn't have our 2 choices on draft. We both ordered the Spinach Salad, 1 w Salmon & 1 w Chicken. Dressing on side was OK, but no special orders due to Art Show We picked out tomatoes. Salads quite tasty, but menu made no mention Salmon grilled hot; Chicken cold. Would have preferred both hot. Server apologized for delay in getting & paying bill as management kept her busy elsewhere. Not sure how this was supposed to make us feel? Average eating experience, food ok, service needed to be crisper. Not sure we'll return/recommend."
