  • "Though not a vegan, I have eaten at a good many high-end vegan restaurants. This was by a large margin the best. The food was outstanding. The service skipped the annoying trend for the server to lecture you on the food, but instead was very helpful for all questions and very attentive. We would particularly recommend the salt-roasted beets, the roasted heart of palm with lentils, the spring onion gumbo, and the fingerling fries as well as every dessert."

  • "We have dined here twice and the food is ok, but overpriced for the small portions. The menu has not changed much in the past year. As a vegan for 20 years, these dishes are not terribly delicious. The wine is overpriced for the size of the pour. The desserts are delicious. In fact we recommend skipping dinner and just having dessert. We dined with four people and we literally tried almost everything on the menu, as they suggested. Expect to pay 100 a head with drinks"

  • "Friends from out of town who we only see once or twice a year stuck in traffic. Called to say may be running a bit late. Told if 15 min or mire would be considered a walk in and have to wait. Arrived in time restaurant was not that busy. Lot of catching up to do and we were slow in ordering.. wait person informed us that there was a 7 reservation behind us. Well 7 came and went and no one was waiting for a table. In all the years we've dined out have never been told that. Bill was close to $400. Frankly don't know if we'll ever go back again. Thought the comment was rude and inappropriate!"

  • "Pluses and minuses like any place. Felt rushed by the server initially who seemed too much 'in our face'. But she mellowed out once she saw that we were ordering a lot of food. And that we did-ordered almost every item on the menu. But it kinda came out too quickly and thus all blended together after awhile even though each dish was like a work of art. Beautiful presentation on each plate and each bite was magnificent."

  • "This was my third visit and again I loved every morsel. I'm vegan but my companion was not, nor do I think most of the diners I heard oohing and aahing over their dishes were either. There's a reason for the great buzz Vedge receives locally and nationally. It's a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for in this case, and was worth every penny to me. Lucky to have such an outstanding restaurant in the neighborhood!"

  • "Vedge is by far one of the best restaurants I've been to anywhere... comparable to the very best meal I've had in Italy. Each dish is exquisitely prepared and highly creative. The flavors are unbelievable. No where else will you find vegetables prepared like this. There's no chance you'll go away hungry. Dessert is to die for - highly recommend saving enough room to indulge. Cocktails are also very interesting and tasty. Plan to spend a couple hours here - the food just keeps coming! And you'll want to savor each and every bite."

  • "The wait for a weekend reservation at a desirable dinner hour (6,7,8) was about two months. I completely understand why now that I have had a chance to eat there. The food was flavorful and creative. Desserts were amazing as well. Great mock tails, cocktails, beer and wine choices. The service was outstanding. Can't wait to return to try the summer menu. They seem to change menus somewhat seasonally."

  • "Food is good and creative, a little pricey but acceptable for a special occasion. However, this is not a place for families - they make that pretty clear with the lack of a single high chair in the whole restaurant. Disappointing given that in my limited free time, I want to eat a special occasion meal with my family (at 5:30pm - not for the late night scene). Probably not an issue for most, and wouldn't have batted an eye on this topic a few years ago."

  • "Once again the staff and chefs at Vedge put forth an outstanding meal. Started with cocktails - Kyoto Sour and POMEGRANATE SANGRIA which were light and refreshing. Finally tried the Fancy Radishes which were exceptional. The Seitan as always was out of the park good - spiced perfectly. Salt Roasted beets were creamy and Brussels Sprouts were crispy and seasoned perfectly."

  • "In my view, the biggest challenge for any vegan or vegetarian restaurant is surpassing Indian food. The biggest challenge is finding a way to offer something that is in some way better than Indian vegan/vegetarian food, so that your potential customers have reason to go to your restaurant. Yes, creating interesting flavors, bold dishes, satisfying mouth feel and all the other goals of cooking is a bit harder without use of meat, eggs and dairy products. A more limited range of ingrediants would always present that challenge. Of the of the six dishes we ordered, only one of them was worth ordering again. The rest were boring, bland and without balance. Skip Vedge and find some decent Indian food. You'll be much more satisfied."

  • "I have been to their happy hour and it was fantastic and I finally got to dine for a sit-down dinner and there was not one dish that didn't impress us. I already had very high expectations of this place and it did not disappoint. All the dishes was innovative and beautifully done. They even offered us an extensive gluten-free menu for my friend who has a gluten-intolerance. The eggplant Braciole was so amazing and impressive-- it gave the smoky-flavor of a pork sausage and the eggplant gave way to the texture of a sausage casing. Dishes I loved: Heart of Palm, Roasted Maitake Mushroom, portabella carpaccio, and Mushroom "Fazzoletti," This restaurant is now my favorite and number one restaurant in Philadelphia and probably of all time."

  • "This is the second time my mom and I have gone to vedge and it definitely won't be the last. It's quality and upscale without being exclusive or pretentious. The food is amazing, the drinks are insanely good, and the service is wonderful. The only set back is the price but as long as you don't go looking to be full when you leave you don't have to spend too much money. It's an extremely special dining experience. Also you can hit up happy hour at the bar if you're looking for good food at a lower price."

  • "We recently ate at Vedge for my daughter's 25th birthday. The food is served small plate, which was a lot of fun. There were 4 of us, so we were able to taste a large portion of the menu. Everything was served beautifully. Each dish was an amazing combination of flavors and textures. We especially enjoyed the dessert course!!! My daughter has been trying to go here for months. We felt very lucky that we were able to get a reservation on her birthday and it was so worth the wait!!!"

  • "As a fan of Horizon's, a semi-frequent visitor of Vedge, and vegan for 17 years, the restaurant seems to have hit a lull of complacency (at least with the current menu). Everything was "good." The service, the persona, the attitudes, and the food. But there's an intrinsic allure that each small plate will be an adventure of flavor and creativity. That was simply not the case. The golden beets had that quality, but moving to the bland cauliflower plate with—sorry but 1? flat-tasting ravioli, to the brussel sprouts and hearts of palm who's homogenized flavors and textures were unflattering. Would I go again? Maybe. I applaud the exposure Vedge brings to eating without harm, esp. in the city of "wit"—I just hope they bring the magic back."

  • "Advance reservations required, even on a weeeknight. This was our first time at Vedge and we didn't know what to expect from a totally vegetarian menu. We were pleasantly surprised as everything was excellent, although the portion sizes are small and it is easy to run up a large tab. Dinner for 2 with tip, one dessert, and 3 drinks was about $160. The mushroom entree, the beet appetizer, and the brussel sprout side were our favorites."

  • "Outstanding meal here this past Friday. Service at the bar and our table was fantastic and very easy on the eyes I might add. Food was expertly prepared. Really had no idea that vegan food could be so tasty. I was blown away as it was something way outside of my comfort zone. Standouts were the grilled seitan, celery root pickles, okra and lentils and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Very reasonably priced and incredibly quality. Cant wait to go back."
