  • "Loved everything. Heirloom tomatoes, beets, carrots, mushrooms, seitan were excellent! Can't wait to go back! Where art meets food!!!"

  • "This was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Every dish was a revelation: surprising, subtle, enlightening. Everything was prepared beautifully and presented perfectly."

  • "My wife and I have been waiting for a while to get a table (reservation) on weekends. That seemed almost impossible until Open table came to the rescue. We had a wonderful meal at Vedge most recently. The food and service was sooo good, beyond proper definition. Thanks Open table and thanks Vedge for a wonderful dinner for our anniversary."

  • "This is about my sixth visit or so. It is still tough to get a weekend reservation. Vedge is the best vegetarian restaurant I've ever been to. I like meat. Yet never miss it during the meal. Inspired cocktails. Good service. Even after ordering all sorts of things, the bill is still somewhat reasonable. The more people you bring, the more dishes you can try. And you want to try everything."

  • "Great tasting dishes, we tried a little bit of everything and enjoyed the creativity and flavor of the food. Although Independence Day is usually for overloading on meats, our vegan meal was filling and satisfying!"

  • "From start to finish everything was outstanding..SO much so that we came back the next night to eat at the bar!!"

  • "Can't believe I just found this restaurant and it's only around the corner from my apartment. Amazing good, great variety, fresh, healthy, and innovative!"

  • "It was a pleasure to find a purely vegan restaurant, that has such fine service and cuisine. Each dish was elegantly crafted. This was a real taste treat. We were celebrating the 73rd birthday of a friend of ours. There is nothing more a restaurant could offer-- the surroundings, the service, and the food and drink were excellent and 100% vegan. Even though we were late for our reservation, the restaurant staff accommodated us. We would recommend this restaurant to vegans and non-vegans alike. You will be pleasantly surprised!"

  • "HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service. Waiter was sarcastic & insulting. Food was passable only. Not close to the top of the many fine meals we had during a 5-day visit to Philly. Would not return."

  • "This was our first time at Vedge and we weren't disappointed. I was a little worried about dining so early, 5:15pm, but that was the only time available for a reservation. But it turned out to be a perfect time to dine. It was quiet, the wait staff were attentive, but not hovering. The food was exquisite and beautifully presented. The plates are small, including the entree's but what they lack in volume they make up in flavors. Every dish was a symphony of textures and flavors. We ordered 2 appetizers, 3 entree's and 3 sides for three people and shared them all. To top it off we had the cheese cake and rhubarb ice cream. We've already booked our next visit. You do not have to be a vegetarian to enjoy yourself here."

  • "Second time here. We got there early this time; not to avoid crowds but because we wanted to take our time and savor this place/food. There were two of us and we had 5 different items off the very reasonably priced menu over the course of 3 hours. Every single dish was an incredible mix of flavors. We never felt rushed by the great staff. I can't imagine anyone, vegetarian or not not loving this food."

  • "We were totally impressed by this restaurant. The vegan plates are masterpieces. We would eat there again in a heartbeat. It takes a lot of advanced planning though because it always seems booked."

  • "Vegetarian and vegan food has come a long way everywhere, but Vedge is a cut above in every way. I would heartily enjoy taking any of my carnivorous and otherwise skeptical friends to Vedge without telling them it was vegan, and savour their facial expressions when I finally reveal the nature of the delicious food they just ate. I'd wager most would never be able to tell they weren't eating meat. This was simply one of the best dining experiences I've ever had, in every way, from service to cocktails to flavors to presentation to dessert and everything in between. Highly recommended, and I hope they stick around for a long time to come, and spread far and wide."

  • "Hands down the best restaurant in Philadelphia and the best vegan restaurant in the United States. (Okay, if I weren't a vegetarian I might have said "among the very best, very special restaurants in Philadelphia" rather than "the best restaurant in Philadelphia." Incredibly imaginative kitchen--who knew vegetables could come in such amazing new combinations, with such new textures, and with such psychedelically intense flavors? The favorite dish of every person I've brought there is the roasted beets with avocado (a napoleon; the beets have the texture of lox). And even though the restaurant claims it is entirely vegan, it is a bit hard to believe there is no cream in the ice cream or cheese in the cheesecake. A magical place!"

  • "We had been to Vedge once before and wanted to return for our 30th Anniversary dinner. Once again we walked away very satisfied and amazed at what Vedge can do with vegetables. Presentation and taste were outstanding. The service was excellent as they stayed on top of where you were with plates. Due to the mixture of the flavors and the presentation we often didn't remember what was in each dish. The waitress was very helpful in answering the question. Next time I may ask for them to leave a menu so I can read about each dish as I enjoy the meal. Also excellent beer and wine list. We will be back."

  • "Finally went here with my two best friends who were visiting from out of town. One is vegan, the other eats meat. We all agreed it was one of the best meals we've ever had. Good prices, great cocktail menu, amazing dishes to try and share. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a special dinner with friends, a fabulous meal, or a romantic date. The service was fantastic and I have to go back so I can try more off of that menu!"

  • "Ive been a vegetarian for over 35 years. This was my first time experiencing full vegetarian fine dining. It reminded me of eating off of the side menu at any other restaurant. Pickled califlower, tasted exactly how it sounds. Mushroom truffle dish, edible but again I was looking at it as a side item. Overall, the experience is over priced and I spent my time eating dinner facing an all white blank wall...very simple style in this place. Oh and it's actually in an older rowhome. My date said we were sitting in the "living room" by an unlit fireplace. Also, the room was so loud on Weds evening, I couldnt hold a conversation with my date or hear the waitress when she spoke. I told my date I dont want to go back. Which is unfortunate."

  • "Terrific and innovative tasty vegetables served with creative artistry. The food was delicious and the service was great. Nice way to spend our anniversary, which Vedge acknowledged and gave us a complimentary dish. We will be back to try their other offerings."

  • "Great vegan food with excellent presentation. Very good service and very friendly. Typical restaurant environment, slightly on the noisey side but not bad. Not a lot of non alcoholic beverages but what we had was very nice. Expensive, that was expected. Parking was a bit of a challege and ended up being expensive for us country bumpkins, we should have taken the train."

  • "Haven't been to Vedge Restaurant? Drop everything and make a reservation. Right now. If you like delicious, clean, healthy and artfully-presented food, then you'll love Vedge. My dining partner and I both chose one dish from each of the three dinner menu sections, so we were able to share six different tastings and two different vegan desserts. Everything we sampled was out-of-this-world flavorful. The service was friendly and efficient. I'm eagerly awaiting my next Vedge adventure."

  • "Our friends Jean and Greg joined us for dinner at Vedge. We each ordered a different choice from each of the three groupings "The Vedge Bar, Hot Plates and The Dirt List." We also selected three selections from the "For the Table" (appetizers) section, and three different desserts. All in all we each had 15 "tastes" at this meal. Here is what we shared, chronologically: smoked new pickles, curry pickled cauliflower, lupini beans, roasted rutabaga salad, portabella carpaccio, smoked carrots, roasted gold beets. We also shared, peas and cauliflower served in a buckwheat crepe, roasted maitake and trumpet mushrooms, brachiole, grilled seitan and too many other items to mention, but take my word all were vastly different and exceptional!"

  • "4th time here. Food always outstanding but dish size seemed decreased. Server seemed distracted to our needs due to other larger tables. Combination of ingredients is fantastic. The chef's skill with vegetables always is outstanding."

  • "Great food. Great service. We tried 14 different menu items and the flavors and presentations were first rate. Would highly recommend, even to carnivores."

  • "My neighbor and I celebrated our birthdays together. The food was good. Well prepared. Nice presentation. Everything we ordered was spicy. Portions small. Beer reasonable price but wine per glass high. Be prepared to spend $$$ for your meal. Service good."

  • "Vegetables could & should be a meal unto themselves & the menu here proves this simple & wonderful truism again & again. The food here is so delightfully smart in its flavor combinations & each plate brings a new idea that is simply stunning in its unpretentious complexity."

  • "As a vegetarian (not vegan) we found the food to be less than enjoyable. However if you have the ability to eat strange food then you should definitely go to Vedge. The flavors were "meaty" and the things we love about our vegetable based diet (fresh, satisfying, organic, simple ingredients) were obscured by strong, smokey, vinegary, and unusual flavors in the food we tried (4 plates). The barbeque tofu was especially weird. Our server was curt however the rest of the staff was welcoming and friendly. If you are looking for something completely different this is the place in Philadelphia."

  • "A wonderful vegan spot with an ever changing menu of creative fresh and local veggies! My absolute go to for every and all special occasion. This visit was for my boyfriends birthday and they made sure it was a special one! We usually get the same things every time we go, the pick three (the new smoked pickles are amazing!) three appetizers two entrees one dirt list item and then dessert! Our informative waitress helped us select from the new items on the menu and everything was fantastic. The waitress also remembered us from the last few times we've been in and sent us a lovely specialty vegetable plate from the kitchen on the house for his birthday! Amazing service great drinks all vegan! I can not rate them highly enough."

  • "As a veggie eater and veggie home cook I highly recommend Vedge. it is one of the most interesting and inventive restaurants we have ever dined at and it is in Philly our closest and most favorite city! My criteria for a good vegetable meal is to have something on the menu that reminds me of my farm past (pickled vegetables) and to wow me with more inventive ways to present and serve nature's gift. We are mushroom eaters and the preparation and presentation of the mushroom dishes was far beyond my expectations. If you are really hungry order the almonds to start your meal- large serving of natural protein and so yummy! The dishes are so interesting and varied and filling. And do not forget dessert- just delicious!"

  • "Our party consisted of one vegan and three omnivores. We all enjoyed the offerings. The restaurant was very accommodating to our ever changing arrival time and the number in our party. My daughters and I all left the restaurant happy and well fed. My husband, a large meat eater, was hungry two hours later, but he would definitely go back again."

  • "my partner and i took a dear fiend of ours who is a vegetarian (and did not know about vedge) for dinner to this restaurant. we really enjoyed the beet salad (in small, chilled plates), the mushrooms (in hot plates), the seitan (in hot plates), the ginger beer (home made drink! amazing but more like a ginger juice, not so much beer), the rutabaga salad (really amazing, in small chilled plates). the service was outstanding! both our server and the person who brought out our plates were really positive, explained the menu and the plates well, and answered our questions with patience and smiles. the thing that i wish were different is the prices. simply too high for being able to become a regular."

  • "You would hardly notice that the menu doesn't contain any animal by-products by the time the first dishes come out. They are attractive, and unbelievably tasty. The first bite will have you saying, "yum." It's seriously incredible that the Mr. Landau (spelling?) is able to create such delicious, tasty food and deserts (the chocolate deserts are amazing) from only vegetables. I'm in awe everytime I leave the restaurant. The service is also quick and very friendly. I highly suggest the cucumber-avocado soup to start! Enjoy everyone. This is seriously one of the best restaurants, in the world, that I have eaten at. You won't be disappointed."

  • "An outstanding restaurant on any scale, whether vegetarian or not. Has a comfortable modern atmosphere. Food is amazing, flavors balanced and complete, creative and satisfying. Vegetarian food has come a long way from hippie brown rice stir fries. Staff is friendly, top notch service. Gluten free menu with lots of choices. I haven't enjoyed a meal in a restaurant this much in a long, long time! Bonus, you can buy their cookbook and take it home with you."

  • "We had heard about this place through a friend. She said we wouldn't be disappointed, and she was right!! The food was delicious, although it does add up to be a little pricey. It's definitely worth it though. We asked our server multiple questions about the menu and the food when it came out. She was absolutely fabulous!! She answered everything so kindly and made great suggestions. The service was quick. Never once had to ask for a refill on a drink. We went for a date night but would be good for a group of people too!! Highly recommend this place :)"

  • "Great restaurant in Center City that looks like it is in a house. Fun place with great atmosphere. Food is very good. Only problem we had was the food is very small portions and expensive. Worth going at least once for the experience but I would not make it a habit."

  • "I'm not, in any way, a vegan. This place was unreasonably delicious. My fiancé and I took his sister and her boyfriend there for dinner, and we all got different plates and tasted from all of them. The portions are really small, but dense. The wait staff suggested to get one plate from each section. I think that'd be a bit too much foord for one person just due to how heavy the food is (lots of oil). In any case, I loved it and will go back for another special occasion at some point."
