A word from Vallozzi's Pittsburgh
Family owned and operated for over 50 years, following in the footsteps of Vallozzi's Classic Restaurant in Greensburg, PA. We use fresh, quality ingredients, as well as Italian meats cheeses flown in from Italy every week. Our wine list is extensive, with many wines available by the glass and by the bottle. We can host your intimate date, family dinner, business meetings, or larger parties in our banquet room. Or come enjoy a specially made cocktail in our bar area and a small bite.

Vallozzi's started over 50 years ago when Helen Vallozzi was selling homemade pastas out of her home. Helen opened a take out restaurant in Latrobe, PA a few years later where her popularity exploded. In 1977, Ernie Vallozzi moved his mothers location to Greensburg where it is still open and operating today. In 2012 Ernie's son Julian expanded the tradition in to downtown Pittsburgh.

The food was great, but we were in the back room and there is a long haul from the kitchen bar and us. Waited way to long for server to come, and to even order our first beverage. Our server never came to ask how our food was or if we needed anything else. I think there should be a team approach instead of a single person doing it all.

Had an early reservation on lightup night. Bar was packed but were seated right away. Cheese plates are incredible. Had both buffalo mozzarella and Italian cheese plate. Plenty for 4. Best crab cakes ever. Suckling pig on pasta big hit with guys. Friend had seafood risotto, she said it was very rich, lots of seafood but pretty large serving. Service was very attentive but neverror rushed even though they were packed. Definitely will go back again.

The pizza is absolutely delicious. The crust is thin and sort of buttery and flaky. Everything tastes fresh. The service was great and the waitress had some good menu suggestions. I went during the lunch rush but we didn't have to wait long for anything. I would suggest making a reservation upon going; especially if you are going during a busy time of the day.

I had been to Vallozzi once before for cocktails and bar snacks, but made this reservation last minute. What a pleasant surprise. We had a group of 7 and all commented on the outstanding food. easily going to the top of my list of places to eat in Pittsburgh, not sure why more people do not recommend it, especially when going the Heinz Hall or the CLO

We went because there were some good reviews and although the prosciutto I had to start was delicious our mains were not. We each had the seafood risotto which was the special. It was really soggy and frankly expensive. There was no apology. So I would not recommend this restaurant nor visit again.

While the food was good, the dining room was hot and our bottle of white wine was warm. Paul our server looked to have too manny tables; however, he worked hard to serve us well. What was most troubling was the way we were treated upon arrival. We had an 8 PM reservation and arrived at 7:52. The greeter told us "we will seat you right at 8." She delivered the message in a manner that could be read as, "you are early and will wait." Color me irked. But wait, there's more. Several moment later a three-person party arrived without a reservation. The greeter checked the dining room and told the part, "it's your lucky day, we can seat you." The three-person party without a reservation was SEATED BEFORE US. Poor form by your greeter.

Took the family, wife and 2 children (10 and 15), to Valozzi's for an excellent meal that we all loved. However, it was quite expensive and no cheaper options were offered for my 10 y.o. Everything is a la carte, which adds to the already prices. Each of us had a pasta entree, we shared a cheese tasting (awesome), only I had a salad, and the kids had drinks, my wife and I had a bottle of one of the lower priced wines ($45). Total cost with appropriate tip was $249. I would definitely return but probably just the 2 of us due to cost, though the kids loved it.

Every person in our party of five raved about their delicious entree. This restaurant has it all: a beautiful ambiance, a perfect location in the heart of downtown, and a menu stocked with fresh items beautifully prepared. The mozzarella taster was a big hit. This is the second time I've been to Vallozzi's, and I felt the need to review it because it is amazing. First off, they have a great wine list. We got a bottle of Ciacci Rosso reasonably priced at $44, compared to some of the other, more pricey Italian wines listed. We also had a farm fresh veggie plate, the prosciutto plate, seafood risotto (the special), and the scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection. We ate it all! The waiter was also extremely friendly, and the service in general was outstanding. We ended the night with 4 pieces of chocolate. The chocolate menu is so unique and each one is always delicious!

Vallozzi's is a great downtown alternative to the chain restaurants in downtown. The food is prepared consistently well, although service performance can be a bit variable. The bar area is a fantastic option for after work given the open seating and plenty of quick, table-friendly aps.

My husband and I were at Vallozzi's after reading a review on an Internet site. We really liked the place, especially because I wanted to order a dish with a few modifications and, after asking the chef, my server, a very nice young lady, said it was ok, and the dish turned out what I wanted (I wanted my veal scaloppini with polenta). The only thing that kind of put us off was when our red wine arrived in what looked like whisky or cognac glasses. We'd had that before in a different restaurant, and we hated it. But, again, when talking to our server about it, she promptly changed our glasses, and gave us stem glasses.

Normally go there for dinner so this was an exception. They have a 4 course sample menu that I never saw before and it is PEREFECT for lunch. You get to choose 4 small tastings that equal 1 normal lunch. Had the lobster stuffed tomato which was excellent. There were chunks of lobster and the meet of the tomato was firm and very meaty. The salmon with cucumber was exceptional as well. Combine great food with incredibly service makes a great lunchtime treat.

The overall experience was very disappointing for the following reasons. 1. It took almost a half-hour to serve the entrees after our order even though the restaurant was not busy at all that evening. 2. When the entrees were served, two of the orders were overcooked and all were luke-warm rather than hot. 3. When I made the reservation, I asked whether a special desert could be created as we were celebrating one of my daughters 40th birthday. I never received a response to this request. Therefore, I asked the waiter again when he asked whether we wanted to see desert menus. He asked the chef on our behalf whether a special desert could be prepared and came back with a response that the chef would not do something like this.
