A word from Vallone's
Since it opened in late 2013, Vallone's has quickly become one of Houston's top lunch, dinner, and happy hour destinations.

Tony Vallone's Americana-inspired menu features some of his favorite dishes from the American culinary tradition, from French Onion Soup and the "Tex" — two cheese enchiladas served with a center-cut filet — to Baked Alaska and housemade Cotton Candy (even the vanilla wafers for his banana pudding are baked in-house).

Of course, Tony's signature pastas and the 55-day-aged steaks are also stars of the show in his cozy, fireplace-lit dining room.

A wonderful meal with GiGi, our waitress. This restaruant apparently pays a lot of attention to little details, and that means a lot to me. The steaks were great, but that is to be expected. The Vsllone's Wedge salad was as good or better than any I have had, and the deserts were unbelievable.

Great location, excelent setting. There were four of us for a business lunch - relatively informal. The restaurant was not very crowded - it seemed as if it took forever for our appetizers to arrive, which were the soup special and French onion soup, something one would think would be relatively easy to prepare and serve. For the main courses, two of us ordered the 8oz filets which were cooked to order but so lean there were no juices and as a result the meat was somewhat dry and flavorless. The salmon was excellent but an entree salad was drenched in dressing, overpowering the theme (not sure which salad). The waiter serving the asparagus needs some training as the way they wre served was one by one, stabbed with a fork!! The main server was "consending" as described by one of my guests. All in all not a great experience

My husband and I came here for our weekly Date Night Dinner. At first everyone was very attentive with the wine/cocktail list and setting our table for two. We had a lull in service after that. It seemed they either forgot about us or the wait staff was confused as to who we belonged to. When we mentioned it to someone they kicked it into high gear! After that the service was wonderful! The server gave us many ideas on what to order and let us know his favorites as well. All the food was incredible! I would say one of the best steaks I've ever had. The sides, brussel sprouts, fettuccine, were delicious and the apple pie for dessert was well worth it! It was a great experience and we will surely go back again!

But Great Veggies too!! Amazing how I'll come here just for the vegetables! A 'creamless' creamed spinach, roasted brussel sprouts, truffle mac-n-cheese, the best cauliflower ever! We've always ordered steak and veggies - and for the first time a complimentary pasta dish arrived - small hand made ravioli - oh my goodness - I want to come here just for the pasta next time!! They home make their pastas and you can definitely tell! The service was impeccable, food presentation was done very well. The only hesitation here is that one of our guests received an over cooked halibut dish. Other than that, the dinner and dining experience was incredible. Will definitely be returning.

I took my husband to Vallone's to celebrate his birthday. We were not disappointed in the food or the service. We started with quail (OMG) My husband had the 55day prime rib, and I had the red snapper everything was amazing. We had the banana foster for desert that they did table side. All eyes were on Chuck who was so enjoyable to speak with and made the desert experience great. Our waiter was so professional I believe he said his name was Morton. I wondered about some of the reviews I read but to be honest it was such an amazing experience and the cotton candy with the sparkler in it made my husbands birthday so wonderful I could tell he simply loved everything and Vallone's made my husband feel special and that is what counts with me

Visited on Saturday evening. The restaurant was not very crowded so noise was not an issue. The service was very good and they had some reasonably priced wines on the menu. The consensus among the 4 of us was that the food was just OK - a bit of a mixed bag. The shrimp appetizer was good, but the Caesar salad had too much dressing. Two of us had the short rib, which was very, very salty. The halibut special was good, but a little overdone. The ravioli stuffed with short rib was good and the Mac 'n Cheese was delicious. The lemon meringue pie was very good, but still partially frozen when we got it. Overall, we expected a higher quality food experience from a trusted name in restaurants.

I had my birthday dinner on the 10th of October and the service was amazing, I have never felt such warm and genuine service from any hospitality establishment in the state of Texas. The entire staff from the hostess to the wait staff and managers paid special attention to everyone at the table and greeted me by name, I was pleasantly surprised. My friends all traveled to Houston just for my birthday dinner and it was easy to find, convenient parking and the food was delicious. I am not from Houston but I work for the largest management in the US and will reccommend Vallones for all of our corporate events, my friends and colleagues.

For a steak house, there were a lot of other options on the menu, which I liked. At my table, one of us had the steak salad, cooked perfectly, another had a halibut special, light and delicate, and I had the braised short rib special - incredible. So tender and flavorful. We started with tuna tartare, which was delicate in flavor, not coated in wasabi and soy, a good cool starter. The sourdough bread is really good, but there are tiny sea salt crystals baked in, and you get a salty surprise every tenth chew or so. Some may not like it. For dessert we split the apple pie, which was like a whole deep-dish apple pie about 7 inches across. Service was great. I recommend it.

We decided to try Vallone's since it was new to our area. We knew it would be expensive, but were a bit surprised that it was as expensive as it was. Food is delicious, service was good. If I had to critique anything, it would be the lighting. When I asked the waiter if he had a flashlight to see the wine list, he told me most customers use their IPhones. I guess that should be a sign to them that it is too dark, if people need outside light to see the menu.

Extremely disappointing experience! From the ambiance to the food to the service, all are in great need of improvement! Ambiance is very stale, cold and faces the mall (the shades are even open to get a great view of a mall parking lot); the server NEVER asked why we were dining and if there was a special guest and we had to make EVERY request from water to napkins to food; the food was horrible....wedge salad was not a wedge but slices of iceberg drowning in blue cheese "sauce"; the brussel sprouts were so overcooked they were caramelized and all of the steaks were bland and served COLD!!!! And after receiving our tab totaling over $400 we were escorted from the dining room because they were needing to close at 10pm on a Sat night!

The appetizers, dessert were excellent, sea bass, salmon, the a la carte cauliflower and brussels sprouts were outstanding, best in town in respect to other steak houses of this class. The dry aged NY strip was disappointing. The steak came out with good "marks" on it but looked dry which my wife made the the first comment on the steak. While it was medium rare, it laced moistness, tenderness and most of all flavor for a dry aged. If cooked at home, I would have called it a select cut. I have grilled, pan fried prime cut strip that were much much better. I did comment to the waiter, but didn't want to make a scene with my guests In retrospect, for an expensive steak, I should have sent it back. This wasn't a prime cut steak.

Since we love Tony's, we were hoping for a similar experience at Vallone's. Unfortunately, it's not in the same league. While the ambiance is pleasant and sophisticated, some of the dishes themselves fell short: the appetizer meat balls were too salty, as was the Caesar salad, the red snapper was a tad on the dry side, and the bar drinks were inconsistent, as if the bartender was following a different recipe each time for the same drink. Otherwise the food was unremarkable; nothing we tried left us swooning like some of the dishes at Tony's. This is based on only one visit, but it was enough that we won't return. Finally, the service was attentive, but overpowering. Too many people coming to our table asking if everything was ok.

My wife and I went to Vallone's for our 9th anniversary. We go to a lot of restaurants and based on the press we had high expectations. The ambiance is pretty posh. We enjoyed sitting in the bar area before our dinner reservation. Drinks prices were medium to high as expected but not too high which was good. My wife loved her special cocktail. Moving to the dining room, again nice atmosphere, servers were pleasant but a little slow. They try to push steaks with their steak rack even though they have seafood, and other meats dishes. I order crab stuffed shrimp which when came out was 3 large (what they thought was large) shrimps. I left hungry. We would definitely go back to grab some drinks and apps during happy hour.
