    Ordered chicken and the pork chop which was recommended by the waiter. The chicken was dry/pork chop was very salty and just not very good-overall the food was very disappointing. Should have ordered the pizza or burger-my guess is that they were better nice wine selection/fair wait staff Would not go again, would not recommend for a high end meal. I would say its typical of hotel food, but I have had much better in less high end establishments

    Nice place, with decent food. However, we were there from 8-9:30 on Saturday nite and were one of four tables occupied. Well decorated, but kind of depressing when no one else is there since the tables are all oriented toward the middle. Only one waiter and bus boy for entire place - but I guess they knew they wouldn't need anymore help.

    I always wanted to check this place out. So my honey and I made a date at Valentino, and we didn't know what to expect. I arrived first and they had great happy hour 1/2 off on drinks. So while I was waiting for my honey, the wait staff was very helpful in picking a drink. When my honey did arrive, we had the portabella mushroom it was so delish. He had the steak, and I had the eggplant parmasan. I was so stuff and the portion was more than enough. Great date night.

    For a supposed noteworthy Italian restaurant, the lack of quality is remarkable. First the mozarralla cheese and the tomatos was below average, The tomatos were flavorless and the cheese was not creamy, like you expect at a great Italian restaurant. Our lobster ravioli was average at best, nothing remarkable. UP, which is not even an Italian restaurant has much better pasta dishes than this place. As for service, my wife and I split the pasta, and they never brought us a plate to split the meal, and we were left to eat off of one plate. Sadly Valentino's didn't meet expectations.

    Valentino is a great restaurant with wonderful food and excellent service! The front of the restaurant is always a bit louder because of the bar so I always prefer to sit in the back area of the restaurant. Will definitely be going back!

    We went for the first time on an early Thursday evening. It was almost empty. Our server was Eduardo, who was outstanding, not only on food selections but also on wine. In general, the food had excellent presentation, but lacked flavor. For example, my potato/corn/salmon soup had no salmon presence, tasting only as corn & potato chowder. My wife's Capresse salad had cold tomatoes obviously just taken out of the refrigerator, killing their taste. While her special "veal roll" was excellent, my signature Ravioli & Lobster was disappointing, since the ravioli was soggy, underdone & tasteless, & from what I could tell, contained nothing as the generously-portioned cold water lobster was just strewn about the plate.     Perfect setting, great food, and wonderful service. The menu isn't kid friendly but the servers made a point to accommodate my three year old. Definitely a place I would recommend for romantic dates, business meetings, and/or casual group outings. This is my first review ever written and I dine out at least three times a week. It was a must to give Valentinos a five star rating.

    The food was great. It appears that the staff was simply out of its element on this day. However, it also appears that the staff recognizes their performance was inferior to their own expectations. While my experience on this occasion was less than desirable, I intend to give the staff a shot at redemption.     Does the restaurant have a new chef? Whatever happened to the elegant and refined meals I've enjoyed last year and earlier this year? Must the chef drown the crudi in cloying sauces? Must the chef load up the Ceasar salad with croutons? Must the chef fill the entire plate of sea bass with potatoes and peppers underneath? Aside from the names of the items, there was hardly any Italian accent in the food.Good thing I enjoyed the pre-dinner drinks and service at the adjoining bar.

    Had selected Valentino off an OpenTable list of brunch spots in Houston on Sunday morning. But after we arrived at the restaurant we found that they did not offer brunch which was quite disappointing since we had tried to verify off the restaurant's website their breakfast menu. Our party stayed for lunch but the food results were mixed. My crab cakes were tasty but a friend's veggie sandwhich was dripping with olive oil. We were the only ones dining at that time so there wasn't much buzz in the restaurant, but the beer was nice and cold which was a definite plus as was the free valet parking.

    Didn't even ask our name so reservation was unnecessary. No place to sit even though I had a reservation. Loud, ran out of shrimp, none of the other prepared food but the mushrooms, had any flavor. Only 1 white wine & 1 red wine to choose from. The only good thing was free valet parking. Price was not comparable to other upscale places even of we bought drinks, certainly not worth the price.

    Valentino in Santa Monica was our special occasion place when we lived in Southern California, so we were delighted to see that there was another at the very hotel we were staying at in Houston, the Derek.     Had the 3 course tasting menu which was a great bargain for the amount of food provided. All 4 in our party picked different items so we got to try 12 different items at our table including the pork chop special. Everything was delicious and the pork chop was exceptionally moist, tender and tasty. We went early on a Tuesday night after the Memorial weekend so the restaurant was pretty empty and quite. The service was attentive. Only thing was that I told someone while confirming the reservation that the dinner was for our annivesary celebration and no one had mentioned it during our visit. But overall, we had a lovely dining experience.
