  • "We enjoyed a delicious multi-course meal that transported me to Italy. The service was professional and the food divine. A lovely evening. Can't wait to go back."

  • "We hadn't been to Valentino for some time but had some Italian friends in town and decided to drop in last Saturday. We were delighted and so were they. As always, the staff couldn't have been more gracious and even with Piero off for the night toattend a family function, we felt like old friends being welcomed home. The amuse of "Frigo", thinly fried parmiggiano is stilll a pleaser and our starters had our friends feeling like they were back home. They are from Piemonte, home of vitello tonnato and we all agreed Valentino's version was as good if not better than they'd find back in Asti. Pastas were perfectly done, and while we usually don't eat dessert the Budino or vanilla pudding was amazing. We'll be back soon"

  • "I have eaten here before and always really, really enjoyed it.. In the past I would have highly recommended it, but not so this time. The spaghetti sauce was very bland and the beef gave the impression of being boiled and the cooked to toughness. The chef used a very heavy hand with the salt. However, the service was excellent as always."

  • "I was expecting the restaurant to be nicer in the dining area. It was very dated, old, with a slight musty smell. They could really use a renovation in the dining area to bring the ambiance up to par. The bread was dry, cold, and flavorless. However, the service was great, they pulled out my chair, refilled my water frequently, and were knowledgeable about the menu. My pasta dish was very tasty, however, my husbands was not that great. I wouldn't eat here again or recommend this restaurant to a friend."

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience. It was our first visit because we had seen a 'deal' on travelzoo for a 5-course fixed tasting, and everything was fabulous! We will definitely go back!"

  • "Wonderful relaxing evening. A five course menu that had many, many excellent choices. Thank you!"

  • "We were glad we went and experienced Valentino's. We used a coupon (TravelZoo) and service was cordial and attentive at the beginning but as dinner progressed and regulars arrived we received less and less attention. The food was great and ended with a fabulous dessert sampler."

  • "My husband has talked about Calentino to me and when I saw a Travelzoo deal I grabbed it. Finally being able to out that to use bc it was my husbands BDay we made a Rez in Opentable which is so wonderful and easy. We had the five course chef's special menu that was specific to Travelzoo. Everything was perfect and delicious. Sushi was divine! Pastas were so delicious and fresh. Sauces to mmmmm over. Dessert was a 3 small bite pairing and all yummy. We purchased a 1974 French red that brought a genuine smile on his face and he pretty much dreamt about it. All in all I just loved it."

  • "My wife and I went out on a weekday. The service was impeccable. Ambiance was old-school, white tablecloth, and very nice. The food was good, but not $200 dinner good - and we just had one glass of wine total. I went traditional with a linguine alla vongole. Clams were overly small, not a lot of flavor. Sauce also weak and unexceptional. There was nothing "wrong" with the meal, and we had a very nice time. But for that price tag, I expect an exceptional meal, not merely "ok.""

  • "My food and service was exceptional, with all five courses not only delicious, but visual works of art. I loved the cioppino, it was the best I've ever eaten. The only negative was that my wife was disappointed in her tender braised beef. she felt it was not that tender and too salty."

  • "Valentino's is the Gold Standard in Southern Calif for Italian food. The ambiance, service and the food is absolutely the best. Joe is a great waiter but whoever serves you will treat you like your the only person in the restaurant. Cant say enough good about the place."

  • "We went for my husband's birthday because we've always wanted to try this place. The atmosphere was nice and the wine selection was impressive. We did a tasting course, and I must say the homemade pasta was great as was the tiramisu. That having been said, I would stop with the pasta if you go - the mains were good, but not great, and took away from the how good the prior pasta course was. It is a bit fancy, so of you're looking for a quaint little neighborhood restaurant, this isn't it. If you're looking for old-school Italian with great wine and great pasta and a slight Godfather feel, Valentino's is your place."

  • "Came for a special event with date - food and service could not have better. Romantic and intimate. Very pricey but worth it - best restaurant by far on the westside."

  • "Still as good as it always was, no mean feat. One side of the menu is classic, the other side more nouveau Italian. Service lovely. Flexible about what we wanted to order, A great place. Food fantastic."

  • "I booked the table the day prior and asked for some special accommodations and everything went just how I planed. The drinks and food were top notch and prices were pretty fair considering the local."

  • "The food was great but the service that night was lacking. It felt like no one was paying attention to our table. In addition, the couple at the table next to us was full-on making out with one another for our entire dinner. It was my 30th birthday celebration and I had high hopes for this place. At a restaurant of this caliber the manager should have stopped them. It was highly inappropriate and their waiter just let it continue for hours!"

  • "I had a business dinner there and the food was great. Lots of meat and didn't bulk me up with cheap pasta. The service was appropriate level with the right amount of attention but not interfering with my business conversation. Place was not crowded and not over-whelming."

  • "Valentino has always been a favorite with us. The food has always been delicious, and the wine list very substantial and fairly priced. Those things are still true, but our Valentine's evening was such a disaster I will never go back. We had a 6:30 reservation, and were promptly seated. The menu that night was an abbreviated prix fixe menu with four or so selections for each of the three courses, plus a uniform dessert. We ordered and got our first course promptly. Then we waited and waited and waited. Our entrees finally arrived at 8:30, two hours after we were seated. Our waiter did nothing to keep us abreast of the status of our meal. Then, to complete the experience, the valets lost our car, and took 45 minutes to find it. A fiasco."

  • "We loved Valentino's classic Italian vibe. They have perfected the art of sublime food combined with impeccable service and a refined yet relaxed ambiance. Paul was our waiter and he made us feel like royalty, while also making us feel right at home. The entire staff were very attentive, but never hurried us and allowed us to linger over each course. Paul offered our heart's desire from the menu, and also let us know the chef was willing to prepare any other dish that we might desire. Each course was more delicious than the next. Everyone made our birthday celebration memorable and very special. We give Valentino's very high marks."

  • "We went there on day after Valentine's Day. Food and service was good as expected. Wine by the bottle list is like a phone book! You must have a good idea if what wine you want before going in or else you would be spending a long time looking at the huge wine by the bottle selection. I was particularly disappointed by their wine by the glass selection. That selection was on par with a very very average restaurant. My wife dose not drink wine, so unless I want to finish a whole bottle, I usually order from the wine by glass menu. But this wine by glass me I was so mediocre that I was forced to order a bottle."

  • "We had our belated Valentine's dinner at Valentino. It was perfect. The food was delicious. The wine recommended by our waiter was fabulous. My molten chocolate cake was divine. We even got a chance to meet Chef Nico -- what a treat!"

  • "While we waited we ordered 2 drinks, that ended up tasting terrible. We kept positive because we were in the valentines day spirit. After being seated... we practically were sitting with strangers. I was afraid to talk to my boy friend because I didnt want anyone else hearing our private conversations. Long story short it took 3 hours to get our food, and we finally got tired of it and ended up leaving before dessert becasue we didnt want to wait another hour for it. We were hungry and tired and just wanted to eat and enjoy everything and leave. I wont be going back and I wont recommend this place. They have such great potential but so much room for improvement. Not worth the money we spent and the gas it took to get all the way out there."

  • "The service was attentive and very caring, but soooooo sloooow that I wondered if we were going to see some food. We waited 1 1/2 hours for our dinner to be served. I finally had to ask about it, and then it appeared. We did love the way they redecorated. It felt very elegant, and reminded us of the old days when we went to other wonderful restaurants that are now gone like Perinos."

  • "This may be the last of the old, great LA restaurants, and it's still wonderful. Pricey, but great. You will be treated like honored guests. The food is above average, but -- I got excited when I saw artichokes the Jewish/Rome way on the menu -- I asked the waiter if they really were like the ones I had in the Jewish section in Rome and he assured me they were. But...no way! Silly thing to carp about when everything else is so terrific there, but I was so disappointed."

    Dined on 2/5/2014
  • "It boasted one of the best wine list in L.A. On paper only since they were not able to find one of their listed White Burgundy and substituted it with a mediocre white, but at the same price. Also, prepare to be extremely patient with the waiters who tend to disappear for a prolonged period of time. Food was very good however, but the delays left a bitter impression. Hundreds of other restaurants deserve your business, Valentino, no more..."

  • "I am from the Midwest and this restaurant reminded me of the classic Italian restaurants on the Hill in St. Louis where the food is authentic and the service professional. The menu at Valentino was excellent, but I am also fairly certain the chef would make you whatever your heart desired. We were visiting from Arizona, but I wish we lived closer so that we could go back soon!"

  • "Traditional Italian restaurant which is comfortable in its traditions and doesn't try to be "trendy LA". Staff is very attentive and helpful and prepared customized antipasti for our table. The wine list is extensive with reasonable quality selections. The menu features regional selections and the Veal Osso Buco was excellent."

  • "Always treated as a special guest. Amazing how they always remember me. Wonderful super quality food. Loved the octopus on squid ink pasta as well as the cioppino Amazing. The best dessert with the combination of molten chocolate cake and panna cotta and blood orange sorbet. Tasty."

  • "I was here last in 1975 (yes you read it right) and was treated to a wonderful dinner. Fast forward nearly 40 years later and the food hasn't changed one bit. Absolutely classic wonderful Italian dishes, all made to order and and done to a turn. If you want to pamper yourself to the best Italian food in the city, this is where you should go."
