  • "This was our first time at Vail Ranch and we were a little nervous about it as we had invited my father to dinner. My dad is extremely discriminating about steak given that he is from Argentina. Our fears were abated as we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal and having the piano player there just added to the great time. The calamari appetizer was great. Bread was fresh and tasty.The steak was cooked perfectly and was buttery. The fennel accompanying the steak was nThis is an excellent restaurant and it should be supported by the community."

  • "The steaks are always good at Vail. Happy to see new specials this time. We tried the beet salad and it is excellent. We are hoping the beet salad makes it on the menu as a permanent item. We also tried the halibut special. Presentation was impressive and was delicious. NY steak and rib eyes were thick and cooked to perfection. Service with Carmel was outstanding as always!"

  • "This wasn't our first time at Vail Ranch; their food is always excellent. There is one thing that I will comment on... I took my husband & 7 year old son here for dinner to celebrate Father's Day. The waitress did tell us that they had chicken fingers or mac & cheese if our son did not want a hamburger. He went with the burger. You would think that the waitress would think not to have the lettuce, tomato and most of all the onions put on the burger without at least asking if we wanted them. She should have let the kitchen know it was for a child and to perhaps put it all on the side."

  • "The food at Vail Ranch is always impeccable, however a few things we thought were less than acceptable on our Father's day dinner. When we were seated we were served a basket of morning pastries which I think were left over from their earlier in the day brunch. Danishes and muffins with a $50 filet and lobster just didn't seem right. Rolls would have been nice. The tought that we were served left over brunch food was appalling. This was our 4th dinner at Vail and never served danishes at dinner. This is a up-scale dining establishment and the servers should be as such. The servers in the small room we were in seemed way too casual and unprofessional just as our server was. Doubt we will be back. Not the same Vail Ranch!!"

  • "What a disappointment this restaurant was. Took dad there for fathers day (but on Sat night). $28 for an 8oz filet that was ok. For a steakhouse that charges such high prices, it should have been great. Service was ok, nothing spectacular. Dinner came with one baby bok choy sliced in half as a vegetable and choice of potato. No salad, no soup, nothing special. I would never go back."

  • "Was expecting a lot more since their specialty is aged beef and you can even see the beef aging as you walk in the door. Attractive ambiance, but very dark inside. Server was great, my wife ordered the chicken, which was great, I ordered a ribeye, which was the chewiest piece of meat I have had in some time. Not tender at all, I have had better steaks at Sizzler. Maybe it was just a fluke, I would like to think they have better meat than what I got. Will probably try it again, was really looking forward to a great piece of meat."

We used to travel does to Del Mar or San Diego to go to Ruth's Chris but now that we've eaten at Vail Ranch Steakhouse, we can enjoy a great steak right here in our own town!   • "Had a great dinner here last year so went back for my birthday as special night planned by my significant other. Unfortunately not as good as last year, shrimp in shrimp cocktail were rubbery and overcooked, prime rib was chewy and service was very slow to point I had to go and ask for more water. Manager was responsive and offered alternatives but not such a good experience for a special occasion, such a shame after last year being so very good."

  • "I toke my girlfriend here on prom day we had a great dinner, Filet Mignon and King Crab legs, my favorite. They exceeded my expectations. At first we thought we were over dressed went we saw the place, but when we walked in the restaurant we were impressed. The price is fair not over the top. I'm bring my parents for my next visit. I recommend this restaurant highly."

My daughter had a filet laced with a long strip of something you couldn't cut with a knife. The green beans just had a big pile of chopped garlic on top. Very disappointing."

  • "We have eaten at Vail Ranch several times, most recently in a group of four at 5PM on a Sunday. We arrived early from a matinee and were pleased to find the bar opened at 4. We each had a glass of wine and shared a very good plate of crispy calimari with three dipping sauces. For our entrees, two of us had filets that were perfectly cooked, one with french fries and one with the requisite baked potato. Both had a generous helping of fresh green beans. One of us had lamb shank and loved it, and the fourth had meatloaf. He felt it was just a little bit dry but tasty. We shared a bottle of wine and also had a yummy tiramisu plus coffee for dessert. We will be back for the food, the friendly service and their live piano player too."

You can dine in the bar area with the Piano Bar or in the dining areas where you can still hear the piano as background music. The full service bar has a fairly extensive wine menu with local wines and locally crafted beer. I have never had a bad dining experience at this restaurant."

  • "The Vail Ranch Steakhouse is not the restaurant to pop in on for a hot, quick meal. It's definitely more of an old school place for adults. It's a bit dim, the music is provided by a live jazz pianist & the steaks are tasty. The prices are high, but you're really getting what you pay for. We recently visited for my wife's birthday. When making my reservation, I asked if it might be possible for someone on the staff to recognize the special occasion. From the moment I spoke our name to the hostess, every staff member we encountered wished my wife a happy birthday, including the managers who made special trips to our table. A good time was had by all. I highly recommend this place for your special occasion."

  • "My boyfriend and I visited the Vail Ranch Steakhouse for his birthday. The dinner was very expensive: roughly $150 for two, including tip . He had the dry aged ribeye, bone-in, rare. This in no Ruth's Chris. Meat had no char, looked anemic, not juicy. The fat was not in any way carmelized. I had the house cut of prime rib, medium. At 7:00 p.m., they had no more end cuts and were out of mashed potatoes. The meat appeared to have been sliced rare and cooked to medium. This is no Lawry's. Again, there was no crust or carmelization. The sides were average. Green beans- perfect. Au gratin potatoes- gross. Fries-good. Caesar salad was good. French onion soup - fine. I would not go back or recommend the place to anyone else."

The balance of the wait staff, unfortunately, always wanted to take plates away before our party of 3 was completely finished eating...a very big problem. While we were still chewing our food, someone was pulling a plate out from under us. This is a huge dining disappointment. On a separate note, I would have preferred a table cloth for a Saturday night dinner out. The water glass condensed on the table top and there was no relief from the dripping every time I drank some water. That's OK for a lunch environment, not for a nice dinner out on a Saturday night."
