  • Great food, bad service

The second time I've been here and the second time the food was excellent and the service was bad but not horrible. It wasn't very busy so there really is no excuse for it. The meal was delicious though! It's definitely not your average pub food. One thing to note is that there is a limited menu on nights there is something happening at the saddledome. Had I known this I would have chosen to go on a different night.

Have been twice before the Flames game. Friendly staff has a hard time keeping up with the crowd even though we showed up with a reservation at 5pm for a 7pm game. We'd pre-order beer when we were only just started our drink so we wouldn't have to wait 30 minutes for the server to come back and one of our food orders never arrived. It would be nice if there were a few more quick meal options in addition to poutine, wings and a burger that is over loaded with jalapenos. One example is there is a very plain pizza or a spicy pizza. If they threw a couple of more interesting pizza options on the menu it would make me want to come back since I didn't like the spicy one. Great location and friendly service, it could just use some upgrades.

Not at all busy for a Saturday evening. The place has a $100 burger.....definitely the rest of the menu and the ambience do not support a $100 burger! Had the veggie burger with yam chips; just so, so. And they were actually chips, not fries, and lots of them were soggy. Probably okay place to go for a beer but the food needs improvement.

Service was excellent. The Brisket dishes excellent (entree and appetizer) as well as the Fried Chicken. I'm sure the Hamburgers would be very good as well. While this is definitely a hot spot for those attending events at the Saddledome, I'm not sure we would return as the parking is limited and it's quite dark and not so populated around there just yet.

We arrived on a Friday night at about 8:00 with our son (age 11) as we had been at a function in the Arriva tower and it was convenient. I was surprised that they allowed kids, but there are a lot of choices on the menu that are suitable for children. Unfortunately it was a Flames game night and although we arrived after the game had started, they were still offering the limited game night menu. We had the wings, which were excellent. My son had fish and chips, which were OK. The chicken sandwich was pretty good. It looks like a grilled cheese with chicken in it. My husband had the Flame burger which he liked. There was a 2 man band playing and they were excellent. The hockey game was playing on the tvs. I would return.

Decided to hit up vagabond to celebrate my birthday and will never go there again! Pretty much all of us sent food back or let it sit there because it wasn't edible. The chef was very rude and his response was "I'm not making this again tell them to deal with it" that's such a great way to have a constant flow of people coming through your doors (not!) I would honestly go there to just drink but if that's the case I could go somewhere better!

Hello, My friend and I dined at Vagabound before the Tim McGraw concert last weekend. We had a very easy time booking on Open Table, and were nicely put in a spot. This was the table underneath a very bright light behind the foosball table. Likely because of where the table was located, it look a good 15 minutes before we had to seek service. Our server brought up wine in glasses with lipstick marks all around, that were clearly not even washed. We ordered the chicken and brie sandwich - the waitress couldn't really tell us much more about it, except it came on 'regular bread', but that it was the most popular dish. It was probably one of the worst dishes we had ever ordered. Very disappointing all round.

I wasn't overly happy with Vagabond. I liked that we could book a reservation in advance of a Saddledome event, and the service was pretty good. Decent beer and wine selection. I had the fish and chips, and would not have them again. The entire dish was soggy by the half-way mark - soggy shoestring fries, and slimy, undercooked and soggy battered fish. Not good. I'd like to give them a try again, and try the "pub fare" appetizers on the menu that sounded yummy.

We made a reservation at Vegabond on a Flames game night. Upon entering it was VERY crowded and we were seated in a corner and ignored for about 10-15 minutes. Our waitress didn't seem to know what she was doing and didn't come back with our drink order for 10 minutes. Many people in her section seemed to be very agitated and ready to leave. . While waiting for our food both of the owners came to our table, apologized profusely and paid for our entire bill. They did explain that the waitress was only on her second shift and had never served before so we were much more understanding and patient with her. Once the game goers left it was a lovely atmosphere. The owners were FANTASTIC and made our night very enjoyable. Also, food is to die for.

They didn't have enough servers and we were almost late for the game. We waited a long time for a hamberger, which was good when it finally arrived. Good beer. The server said they had a technical problem with their kitchen and that's why they were slow. We thought they could do with several more servers. The place is all cement and nothing absorbs the sound. So it is very noisy.

I had just been to Vagabond about a week earlier before a hockey game, and really enjoyed it. The chicken wings are second to none. What I did not realize, is the first time we were there, it was a beautiful day outside, which as it turns out is absolutely crucial. This last visit was a frigid cold day out, and the front door stays open way too long, with nothing stopping the winter from entering the building. Everybody at our table, and tables all around were wearing winter gear to cope. Really ruined the experience.

We had a great waitress- very attentive and friendly. Beer was reasonably priced for a place that close to the Saddledome- although they didn't have their home-brew yet. However, waitress said it was coming in the next month. Food was pretty good but portions were only so-so. We ordered the nachos with pulled pork- and while they tasted delicious- they were basically served on a regular sized bowl/plate at a relatively steep cost of $24. All in all, our group really liked the place- and it is definitely the best bet for a beer and casual meeting if you are going to the Dome.

Slight mix-up with the reservation (it was bumped from 2 to 4). Once that was straightened out we got a smaller quieter table with chairs rather than stools, which was great. Service was excellent, food was good. Menu was limited to "event menu" as it was before a Flames game. However, this was probably an excellent thing to do was there was no wait for our food and we were out with plenty of time to get to the game.

Do yourself a favor and sit at the bar. Don't pick your beverage for your meal, let the capable staff behind the bar pick it out for you. I had the Flame's Burger with the Kale Cesar salad (a very pleasant surprise!!!) and a couple of different beers that went wonderfully. My only complaint is that the burger was a little too big - really. Big burger with big taste.

We had pizza and wings and the food was great. Quick service and the restaurant was totally packed. They have a pretty good beer menu but it could stand to have a few more solid IPAs and some of the essential Belgian beers. I'm sure it will step up another notch once their own brewery is up and running; I can't wait for that. I'll be a repeat customer for sure.

A lot of people like to complain about new spots, but I honestly have had no troubles with Vagabond. This was my second time there and I brought a group of a dozen people. Our reservation table was perfect, our server was friendly, and the food is soooo good! I've tried the kale Caesar salad, chicken tacos, chicken apple sandwich, and some pizzas; and all were mouthwatering. They do simple food EXTREMELY WELL! Also, Lee, the owner was super nice and accommodating to us. I can't wait to go back for brunch! It may not be as busy as some other places in town yet, but it should - and will be!
