Vaccaro's TrattoriaItalian done right, but too rich!Three of us enjoyed dinner at Vaccaro's the other night, but in all honesty, many of their dishes are too rich and creamy. The wine was delicious and our waiter was wonderful to keep the glasses filled. When eating at Vaccaro's, their menu and specials come across a bit overwhelming, because the fresh items that they use need such an explanation, that by the end of the waiter reading off the specials, we all just looked at each other! The chefs and staff would be wise to cut down the specials and get back to the basics in explaining just what you are about to order. Again, in all honesty, spaghetti is spaghetti and trying to make it sound like you're about to order "spaghetti ala caviar", is a waste of time!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food! The food was outstanding. It had a uniqueness about it that you do t get at chain restaurants. Our waiter was very attentive but not overbearing. Overall, our experience at Vacarro's was very positive. I would definitely recommend it and plan to return.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMRelaxed evening of dining.Relaxed evening of dining. The preparation and presentation of the meals was close to perfection and We are not chefs. The attention to details enchances the experience. The special tomato asparagus salad is wonderful. The 'thyme' on the 'Saltimbocca' was to heavy but otherwise enjoyable.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA most comfortable neighborhoodA most comfortable neighborhood restaurant with excellent service and great food. The owner has been in the business a long time and knows who to keep customers coming back.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding service... FoodOutstanding service... Food was wonderful with great presentation. Nice wine list.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingAfter passing this place by over the years, finally decided to try it. Was just hoping for good "red saauce" Italian-American food, but got much more. Perfectly cooked calamari, outstanding lasagna alla bolognese, delicious scallopine di vitello with an inventive risotto cake (like a flattened arancino). Only the osso buco disapppointed -- not sure it was even veal, not melting from long slow cooking, and not the traditional sauce nor gremolata. Well chosen wine list with lower than usual mark-ups contribute to a satisfying experience. Even if it was a slow night, service was professional without being stuffy. Will definitely return on future visits to the area.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
