A word from V-Note Organic Wine Bar & Vegan Bistro
From the creator of Blossom and Café Blossom, comes V-Note, an organic wine bar and vegan bistro set in an elegant, relaxed and inviting space on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. V-Note carries a vast selection of wine and beers, all of which are vegan, organic and/or bio-dynamic and in some cases even kosher, to accompany our completely vegan menu dedicated to fresh gourmet cuisine that is animal-caring. V-Note offers a rare opportunity for vegans and non-vegans alike to enjoy a great, satisfying meal paired with a carefully selected wine and/or beer. A kitchen that is open later fills a much needed niche for vegan restaurants in New York. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "V-Note never fails us. The service is always exceptional, the food is always amazing, and we always leave super happy and full!"

  • "No need to rationalize V-Note as great vegan food--it's just plain delicious, vegan or not. I tend toward vegetarian but do eat meat, and my dinner companions are neither vegetarian nor vegan. We were all impressed with the food. The presentation was beautiful and simple, but with attention to detail. The lasagna was the best thing on the table--the cashew cheese legitimately tasted and behaved like dairy cheese. Impressive. I would definitely go back."

  • "Great service and even better food keeps me coming back to this place. I take friends and dates here at every opportunity. This time, I tried the seitan cordon blue and it was fantastic. Just like every other time, I had to resist ordering a second plate. It's THAT good. I'll be going back again ASAP!"

  • "Very clean, nice people, great food, outstanding deserts. Two non-vegans with us impressed as well, Great!"

  • "The food at this place is simply inspired. Creative ingredient use and treatment goes far beyond what I've seen at other restaurants. Also, I had to box up my food half way through dinner because I hadn't been feeling well all day, and they brought me a free glass of ginger ale with my check, that's just downright thoughtful service."

  • "I picked this restaurant because I had a vegan friend visiting from out of town. I figured I was doing a good deed and I could survive one not-so-good meal. I was wrong. The meal was delicious. There were 5 of us, and everyone liked their food. Waiter was lovely. Service was friendly. I highly recommend V-Note."

  • "Nice little spot on UES that caters to all types, though my Vegan friend was somewhat miffed that the menu featured dishes that subbed meat for soy but otherwise were the same. As an omnivore, I didn't care, but went with the tomato soup and grilled cheese just as she did. Tables also are very close together, so best not to share any deep, dark secrets as you dine. Overall a good spot that prices out higher than maybe what the food is actually worth -- just because it's on the UES."

  • "As a vegan, when I go out, I usually have to choose between a fancy meal and a vegan-friendly menu. This makes restaurants like V-Note with a vegan menu and an upscale ambience a very special find. The food is fantastic: fairly traditional dishes made vegan and done absolutely fabulously."

  • "Awesome vegan food, much more reasonably priced than other spots in the neighborhood and just as tasty."

  • "A true gem on the upper east side. One of the best veg restaurants in NYC. Great wine and beer list. Creative and varied menu. Plan on being a regular!"

  • "Love, love, love the V-note. The pumpkin gnocchi appetizer and stuffed poblano with cilantro lime rice were two incredible and highly recommended dishes. We took a non-vegan here for dinner. It was his first time, and he could not stop raving about the food. Presentation is lovely, food is fresh, impeccably prepared and the service always outstanding. Looking forward to my next visit!"

  • "I came here two weeks in row and was not disappointed. The lasagna is so good and tiramisu was awesome too. They have a great wine list also. Get a glass of Ever Red! Appetizers are a little underwhelming I had the gnocchi and mushroom scallops. Neither were note worthy but they were ok. Service was very good. Great place!"

  • "Service was extremely helpful, food was really good, excellent atmosphere, warm, mellow and romantic. Highly recommended."

  • "Vegetarian is more than chewy grasses and beans. VNote is vegetarian as it should be: vegetable combos, interesting grains, and best of all, excellent sauces."

  • "I dream about the brunch at v note. When I have to leave nyc for a weekend I lament that I will not have an opportunity to savor vegan brunch items at this wonderous establishment. The French toast and the pancakes, textural masterpieces. Speaking of textural masterpiece... The tofu Benedict. Why it's the fluffiest most delectable tofu I've had outside of EN Japanese brasserie in my life! I can't tell you how many places I've had off kilter tofu Benedicts, but I must say this particular tofu Benedict is so good, and affordable that my very carnivorous boyfriend would rather go to v note for his weekend Benedict fix than any of the other neighborhood spots that offer a non vegan option. Best vegan brunch in nyc. Just go"

  • "The food is decently good, but the flavors are not as explosive as they used to be. I still occasionally go for the fine dining experience that V-Note offers- beautiful ambience and excellent service- but I would love to see the cuisine returned to it's former glory."

  • "We had lunch here. We got a great cosy and quiet spot in the corner. Service was attentive yet discreet. Food looked good and tasted nice. The wine, NZ Pinot Grigio was out of this world. Overall, perfect for a romantic date."

  • "Lovely intimate space with art-covered walls and a casual vibe. We started with the soup du jour (French onion) which was amazing, and then shared the equally delicious eggplant parmigiana. I enjoyed my peppercorn seitan medallions, but even better was my wife's seitan cordon bleu - one bite and I knew she'd picked the winning dish. Not that I'm not complaining about the medallions - they really were delicious, it's just that the cordon bleu was even better! If I had one complaint, and it's a stretch, it's that the portions were so large that we didn't have room to try a dessert. So if you want to try a variety of things, make sure you're really hungry! Highly recommended."

  • "I have been to the city only a handful of times and this is my far one of the best places to eat in the city! My girlfriend is a vegan and I am a vegetarian and all of the dinner options sounded absolutely fantastic! We both enjoyed our dinners along with our friends who found their meals absolutely delicious! This is a resturaunt that my girlfriend and I will be stopping back at whenever we come to the city!"

  • "What a find! Although a Blossom property, V-Note has a very different vibe - more of the wine bar and bistro feel that they tout it as being. Same high level of quality of food and service, and the presentation is stunning. As a vegan, it is sometimes challenging to find food on a menu. What a wonderful feeling to be unable to decide which of the many great dishes I should try. The wine selection was quite impressive. Desserts were incredible. The butterfinger shake was rich, creamy and true to its name, and the carrot cake was moist and delish. Service was wonderful and unrushed, and staff was available as needed to answer any questions.. I highly recommend V-Note to anyone looking for a nice dinner - whether vegan or not!"

  • "The best thing about V-Note is definitely the ambience. It's very open and inviting; I met up with an old friend here and it was a great place to catch up. I imagine it's also a nice date night location. The menu is extensive, and my Southern seitan sandwich was delicious. It was very oily, but I suppose that's what you get when you order something Southern style. The service wasn't great. I waited by the door for 10 minutes before somebody came to show me to my table, and the food took a while to come. I don't blame the waitstaff; there were two people staffing the restaurant. Overall it was a nice lunch, and I'll definitely be coming back."

  • "Dining with a mixed crowd, vegan and non, this was a great way to go! Food was just delicious and never felt deprived. The service was a bit too slow, and while it's great not to be rushed out, when you arrive a bit hungry, the first course should have come out a bit faster, but worth the wait! It's very pretty and despite being seated close to the door on a frosty cold day, we were pleased overall and will return."

  • "I've been to V-Note many times. The service has always been great and the food delicious. Sunday there were five of us and they messed up our orders a little bit. The kitchen apparently was a bit overwhelmed. The waiter was very apologetic. All in all everyone was happy because the food was delicious. I will continue dining at V-Note."

  • "I've been to V-Note a few times and loved it, but I took a friend here for Valentines. I was super excited to have some of my usual dishes and have my friend (a heavy meat-eater) try the amazing food. I was so disappointed to see a $68 prefix menu that included nothing I had seen before, Oh well. It was time to try something new anyway. I had the ravioli appetizer, the pasta entree and the cheesecake dessert. Sadly, my meal wasn't all that great. Perhaps, had I gotten something else it would have made a difference. Next time, I'll just make sure there's no prefix. Fortunately, my waiter informed me that a couple of the better looking items will be featured on the Spring/Summer menu. So they'll be seeing me in a few months."

  • "I asked my hubby if he would go here and in true form he didn't listen to the details. He was a little upset about no meat and slow service to start. The service improved after he had to get up and ask for a drink. I thoroughly enjoyed my beet ravioli and wine. He liked his fine, but will never admit it. I thought the food was fun and had good flavor. Filling portion for me with no leftovers. I would go back again, but with a girlfriend and not the hubby!"

  • "As a vegetarian I often get overwhelmed by the number of options at vegetarian reataurants, but this menu was spot on! It was exciting but limited enough to be manageable. There was a good balance of vegetable inspired options and ale meat inspired dishes. Certain to come back!"

  • "This was a great dining experience. Superb menu and quality of food. We are visiting from Denver and this was a wonderful dining experience. Do not be fooled by the outside. The decor, food and service was flawless! Thank you!!"

  • "I made a reservation for dinner to take my vegan boyfriend and our 12 year old son and this place did not disappoint. The menu offered all 3 of us options that met our taste buds. I had the Risotto and it was amazing. I was pleased to find choices that were delicious and not full of tofu or soy. Everything on the menu is vegan - did I mention that? Appetizers were great, entrees were great, wine was great ! We loved it so much we went back 2 days later just for dessert. The chocolate mouse was memorizing and the Tiramisu makes my mouth water thinking about ordering again. Our 12 year old orders the butterfinger shake which he loved but after tasting the chocolate mouse he tried to bribe us to trade."

  • "This restaurant makes sauces that are fit for a king. Sometimes eating vegetarian is like chewing cud; but this gem of a restaurant has a menu that takes advantage of a variety of sauces that are good enough even for the hardiest of carnivores, making vegetables as interesting and as tasty as any other main course. High recommendations for this vegetarians' feast."

  • "The food and ambience were nice, but service was a bit slow and unprecise, although everyone was friendly and full of helpful information when one of our group noted that they had very restrictive dietary limitations. We'd try it again for brunch."
