The cheese selection is amazing, and the truffle oil flat bread is so flavorful and thin and crispy. Sit downstairs , candles line the stairs and in the wine cabinet . Sitting in UVA transports you out of the hustle of bustle of nyc and to a comforting , romantic wine cellar in Tuscany .5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMUva FunI have been searching for a great Italian restaurant on the UES and I have been hard-pressed to find one...until UVA. I have been on the hunt for the best bolognese sauce in the city and the vitello ragu is one of UVA's signature dishes. But, I did not choose this. Instead I went for the gnocchi with black truffle sauce and it was absolutely amazing. The gnocchi pillows were perfectly cooked and the ricotta inside was so fresh. The black truffle sauce added a level of decadence that was perfect for a Friday evening out with the girls. I paired it with the bubbly wine flight and we got a cheese plate of the asiago, pecorino, and one more that was not very good. But then we topped it off with another bottle of white! My girlfriend and I has been there before for a rehearsal dinner and decided to go back just the two of us. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. Our waiter was extremely friendly and tentative especially to make sure that our wine glasses weren't empty. The food was delicious, I ordered the scallops wrapped in prosciutto and they were cooked perfectly, not one was over done. My girlfriend ordered the ravioli with prosciutto, she won it was amazing. I would give this place 5 stars except the seating was a little tight(we were seated in the back courtyard) . I felt like we were on top of the people next to us. All of the staff at Uva were wonderful and our waitress gave us some wonderful recomendations. Everything was cooked to perfection and the wine selection was amazing. Their wonderful selection of desserts was a great way to end our meal.
