Urbana RestaurantModern FeelI went to Urbana for a brunch date. While the food was good, it had a strange ambiance. The space is huge and modern looking, which made it feel empty, even during Sunday brunch in the middle of Dupont. Despite the fact that the restaurant was far from full, the service was not very attentive.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSolidThis is a solid, upscale restaurant with good food and quality service. The menu does not have much in the way of comfort foods but if you don't mind that, there are some tasty choices.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent choiceThe food and the service were excellent during our Saturday night meal at Urbana as well as our Sunday brunch. We will happily return the next time in DC.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, friendly serviceFood was excellent, as were the wines by the glass-- especially the dessert gewertz. Service was a little rushed, but overall fine. We would go back.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMspecial treatmentI noted in my reservation that we were celebrating a milestone birthday. The two hostesses and the waiter all wished me a happy birthday and they provided free champagne at the end of the meal. It was a very nice place to celebrate and we appreciated their effort.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food near Embassy RowMy wife and had spent Mother's Day weekend in Washington, DC. We had dinner at Urbana to celebrate her special day. The food was excellent. The service was tremendous. I highly recommend this restaurant and the asparagus salad.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMnice surprisethis place is easy to walk by. it is below street level but what a nice surprise once you get in. the ambiance is great, the food is adventurous without being crazy, and the wine was good. what more can you ask for?5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA safe betWe went to Urbana because we were staying at the hotel next door. The food did not disappoint, though it wasn't really memorable. The bread was very good (I consider that important!). I had the frisee salad, which was excellent, and the fish stew, which was well prepared. Our waiter was very helpful, and when he got caught up attending to the needs of a large party nearby, another waiter came to make sure we didn't need anything.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGroup of 12A group of 12 consisting of college buddies and our wives met for dinner at Urbana. I was expecting mediocre based on some reviews i had read, but the opposite was true. The food was excellent. The people sitting near me had the swordfish, totellini, and i had the cannelloni. All said "very very good". Good appetizers, tasty desserts, and good food for a decent price. We would definitely recommend Urbana again when in the DuPont Circle area.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, very impressed. WeGreat food, very impressed.
We had small plates for the table to share and every one of them was amazing.
It was extremely loud due to the bar scene, that was the only downside.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time around...a hit again! This was the second time dining at Urbana and it was wonderful once again. We asked for a quieter table so we could have a buisness dinner and were easily accommodated. The food was excellent, service was spot on and charming. It's located in Hotel Palomar which is a Kimpton Hotel...no surprise it was first rate.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Brunch-abilitySuch an awesome brunch place! The food is good, nothing crazy special but there isn't anything I have tried that I didn't like. What makes this a spot worth going to for brunch is the make your own mimosa/bellini deal. For just under 19 dollars you get unlimited champagne during brunch hours and you can choose the puree you want to try, or mix a few together. Flavors are beyond the basic OJ, and include mango, cherry, peach, blood orange, passionfruit etc depending on the day. Definitely worth trying!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe lunch was really interestingThe lunch was really interesting and tasty. I enjoyed it so much that I would definitely give it a try for dinner. It is an excellent, quiet place to have business lunch in a neighborhood of bustling, loud lunch places.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Inventive.Excellent food. Inventive. Very high level design.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMvery pleasedI'm looking at the good for groups sections and I would probably say under 7. The food and service was amazing. I heard that it was very busy during brunch (we were there on Easter). If you eat dinner early, meaning before 7pm, there is a few people in the restaurant. I also hear that area starts the dinner rush later in the day than most. Can I say the food was great? You are looking out onto P street. It was rainy so no outdoor eating that day.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best bottomless brunchWe love Urbana for brunch. The bottomless bellini option is great because they give you champaign and then you mix it yourself with a variety fo fruit juices so it's not too sweet. Lots of juice options. Pizza is delish!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe pizzas are amazing- deliciousThe pizzas are amazing- delicious authentic slightly salty crust is reason enough to come here. The atmosphere is great- comfortable yet trendy. The cannelloni filled with short rib are going to be a must get from now on and the lamb meatballs were a decadent treat.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBest BurgerThis is my second Sunday in a row for brunch! I'm not a big red meat eater but I had a craving for a burger. I passed on the omelet for an angus burger and fries. So glad I did!!! Probably one of the best burgers in DC I've had in a while, and the quality of the meat was superb. It wasn't heavily seasoned and I didn't have to drown it in ketchup. Urbana is now on my official list of go to brunch spots in DC.
If you opt for street parking plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your reservation because you will have to circle around for a while to find parking. There is valet for hotel Palomar but sometimes they are full.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI really love Urbana - theI really love Urbana - the food is always excellent, the wait staff hospitable and the bottomless bellinis plentiful. This time, there was an EXTREMELY loud group of women sitting next to us - while I enjoy the energetic atmosphere, it was very difficult to hear anything other than their shrill laughter. I wish the wait staff would have politely asked them to keep the volume down.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat timeWe went here for a bachelorette party dinner. The server was incredibly attentive and helpful. The food was delicious but TINY portions. Overall, great experience.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyably lazy brunchFor a bottomless mimosa weekend brunch, Urbana is a fun place to be. I wish the food portions on the breakfast-y dishes were a little bigger, but the pizza was delicious, and hit the spot after my friend and I had enjoyed three hours of hanging out, trying all the different mimosa combinations, and catching up. The servers didn't try to hurry us along and were fairly responsive, and I really enjoyed the juice selection (along with the blanc de blancs that kept coming as long as we asked). Definitely will return with more friends!3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate at the pizza bar duringWe ate at the pizza bar during happy hour and this was a great deal. The pizzas are hand made and oysters are only $1/each. Just a lot of fun. Highly recommend!2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a business dinnerEnjoyed a business dinner of four. The wait staff was charming and the food was delicious. It helped us focus on the important discussion at hand and sharing a great evening together.2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFor the most part Hotel RestaurantsFor the most part Hotel Restaurants are just that, hotel restaurants! Not so with Urbana at the Palomar in D.C. I sat a Pizza bar (a favorite from past visits) and had the pleasure to meet Anthony the pizza chef. Clearly He loves his profession and FOOD and he loves to tell the patrons about their dinners which enhances the experience. I always take a book when dining alone but I always find the conversation with fellow dinners so engaging that I never read a page. I look forward to my next visit!2/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
