  • "Pleasant surprise after having really poor service at other well known D.C. "hotel" restaurants. Tapa size plates and a great selection of food! Our waiter was excellent in directing us as to portion size and recommendations. Being tapa's the wait staff has to stay on top of the timing of bringing the food out and checking on things and they have it down pat! Highly recommend this restaurant even if your staying in another hotel! We will be back when in D.C. "

  • "The bottomless bellinis were made with a fantastically tangy Spanish cava and a choice of peach, orange, or strawberry puree. The eggs benedict had a wonderful Hollandaise sauce with some of the best potatoes I've ever had at a restaurant. The locale is a little loud, but that's because it's popular and a bit echo-y. "

  • "Went for brunch. The food was pretty good, but the service was absolutely terrible. We had a reservation, but had to wait 15-20 minutes after we were seated before anyone even came over to fill our water glasses. I'm usually pretty lenient on servers, but there are really only two explanations for the poor service at Urbana: 1) they're understaffed, or 2) the servers are just inattentive, slow, and just plain bad at their job."

  • "Dinner here was fantastic. Our server wasn't very knowledgeable about the wine list, but when we had more detailed questions, he sent over the manager who was able to help us and provided great service. Very well done/ nice save!"

  • " The environment wasn't noisy even though the bar was full, the restaurant part is a bit removed. The food was very good, lots of small plates, with creative touches. The roasted brussel sprouts with pancetta were delicious, also a really good polenta & mushroom small plate with just the right amount of kick. My husband had a risotto with grilled baby octopus both rich band delicious. Dessert tart tatin was pretty good but the pannacota was even better! Service was good, wine list seemed nice though we had wine by the glass. A good experience !"

  • "I was visitng over for cherry blossom and really enjoy the bottomless brunch with my friends"

  • "Ok, in all fairness, I haven't tried every brunch in DC. After going to Urbana, why would you want to? The build you're own (bottomless) Bellinis with fresh fruit purées were outstanding and completely reasonable prices at $16/person. My personal favorites were mango and raspberry, though my friend couldn't get enough of the peach! The food was outstanding! And the service was impeccable!! Put server, Jari, was fabulous. She was friendly, professional and incredibly responsive... especially with refreshing our bottle of champagne the second it was empty and always making sure we had enough of each juice. I would highly recommend Urbana for brunch to anyone and everyone!!"

  • "Great restaurant, amazing food selection. Nice quiet ambience, wish we would have gotten a private booth like we had requested, other than that the food was amazing. The service was superb, everyone kept attention to the table and even explained the options in detail so we could make our choices"

  • "Highly recommend the Urbana pizza bar. Outstanding service and a great place to visit in Dupont Circle."

  • "Pizza and salad both lackluster. Kale salad had very little taste and the pizza crust doughy and unmemorable"

  • "A great place with some great menu choices, offering some standard items and others that are less common. Good charcuterie and cheese boards, great venison."

  • "Food was excellent. Small plates so you can try several things. Reasonably priced. Great wine."

  • "It was my wife's birthday and we picked Urbana after checking their menu and facility. At the entrance, we were a bit shocked by the level of noise at the bar, but a manager momentarily arranged a booth at a far side from the bar and made our stay quite comfortable. The food was great: I had oysters and duck and my wife had an octopus and lamb. However, the California chardonnay was not good at all so we switched to more familiar Cotte du Rhone rouge which, anyway was more appropriate for the meat entrees we had. Panna cotta was great - one of the best I ever tasted. We enjoyed a nice evening with a good food and a relaxed ambience. Well, the wine choice did not initially work out - but one could not blame the restaurant entirely for it!"

  • "Enjoyed the small plates, ambiance and customer service. Waitress was attentive without being intrusive, and food was very flavorful."

  • "Simply put, it is one of the better places to get bivalves in the city."

  • "Generally, I think the small plates concept is over done in DC, but it really works here. Ordered a bunch of tasty items, all suggested by our server and they were great. Octopus, scallops, beet salad and short rib dish stood out. Solid cocktails, although they were a tad pricey. My friend had the lobster ravioli which I tried and it was delicious."

  • "I know it's been a national trend for restaurants inside hotels to improve, but Urbana is hands down the best restaurant inside a hotel I've ever been to. Even a little better than the restaurants I've dined in at W Hotels. I had two dinners here (would have eaten at Urbana all four nights of my stay, but had other commitments) as well as breakfast one morning. The food is outstanding, nice smaller portion sizes, not overly salted or seasoned, clearly fresh ingredients. The staff is super friendly, and dishes came quickly. Love the ambiance. I let our server choose my wine (by the glass) and I was very satisfied. Too loud for business meetings, but tons of fun with friends. I highly recommend it!"

  • "My boyfriend and I arrived later in the evening for just a drink and ended up getting some snacks as well--we loved it! I'd walked by but never been in before and I'm so glad we stayed. The lounge seating was perfect for a night cap and small bites."

  • "The pizza here is my favorite, hands down--definitely a DC must-try! My friends and also have been for brunch which is delicious, perfect way to fuel up before a leisurely walk to Georgetown."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "Salt seems to be main the ingredient here. Pappardelle pasta was not al dente. Brussel Sprouts and panchetta were very salty, and also very dry... some olive oil could have been used. Short ribs were decent. The winner of the night was the lobster raviloi, everything else was mediocre."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "I come here all the time and always have fun--the bar is perfect to sit and have dinner with a girlfriend, great vibe and the bartenders are always good to us!"

  • "Our waiter actually made this a great experience. He was able to explain different items on the menu that we didn't understand. He was very knowledgeable and provided great recommendations. All of our choices were excellent especially the venison. Highly recommend trying Urbana."

  • "The food was very good, however, it took a very long time for the food to come out of the kitchen. The "shared plate" concept is likely the reason since there were very few other diners in the restaurant. There was also no consistency in the sizes of the portions, making it difficult to figure out how many dishes to order/share for the table. Would have been happier with regular dinner format vs. small plate/share concept."

  • "Had a client staying at the Palomar and we decided to have lunch at the restaurant attached, Urbana. I'd never been here before and had no idea what to expect. It was somewhat quiet, which can be a good or bad thing. In our case it was great. We were able to meet and catch up all while in an upscale atmosphere. Despite the atmosphere being upscale, the service was relaxed and friendly. Our server guided through the 2 course lunch option, which we both opted for. I had the squash soup and the chicken salad, both hit the spot. My friend had soup as well and then a pizza with house made sausage. I tried the pizza and it was delicious. Better than most in DC in my opinion. I'm usually over on the other side of town for work but will be back."

  • "The bottomless drinks are fun and the food is always lack-luster. Go here for the alcohol not the food and its an awesome brunch spot!!"

  • "Six of us went here for brunch on Sunday. Our server was really helpful describing the food and answering our questions. The food was delicious and the unlimited bellini bar was super fun. This is a great spot for large groups - they have a number of tables that fit 10-14 people. I will definitely be back again soon!"

  • "All you can drink bellinis are the best! I love that the servers give you bottles of champagne and fruit puree for the table. The food is good, but I wouldn't say great because the portions are a bit small."

  • "My 16-year old had her first birthday dinner party at Urbana! The guests ranged from a baby to the more experienced adult. The restaurant had something for everyone! The manager, hostess, chefs and wait personnel were personable, professional and gladly answered all questions. The restaurant is tasteful decorated and is ideal for a variety of events. The food was well- seasoned and delicious! The menu had a variety of dishes. The spring chicken and ribs were delightful. One of the guests enjoyed the baby octopus! The teens enjoyed their freshly made pizzas. You can watch your pizza being made. There is also a kids meal menu. Overall, my experience was 10+! I will definitely return again. I have already recommended the restaurant!"

  • "We sat at our table for twenty minutes without a waiter stopping by to even fill our water glasses. Only after one of us stared down someone on the wait staff were our orders taken, and the food arrived cold as if it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while. I'm not sure if there was a staffing issue or what, but I won't be coming back."

  • "Always a fun time at Urbana. Very happy they brought back bottomless bellinis!"

  • "Having heard good things about Urbana's brunch, I made a reservation for myself and two friends from out of town. When two of us checked in at FOH, we were brought to a table for two. I corrected the hostess, saying the res was for three, which seemed to cause some disproportionate confusion. (Let me add that it was quite early and the restaurant was only 30% full.) We were led back to the front desk and made to wait while they figured out where to seat us. We continued to receive lackluster service for the rest of our meal - had to search for our server to order a side, etc. The food was very good (poached eggs, omelette, and doughnuts), but service-wise I expected a little more from the Kimpton group."

  • "Never left Urbana brunch unsatisfied. The menu is interesting and unique without being overwhelming (and has a wide range of food sure to please the ultra-healthy foodie to the picky eater). The bottomless bellini deal cannot be beat, and is in my opinion one of the best in the city. Jerusalem is a phenomenal waitress. The atmosphere for brunch is fun and rowdy without being sloppy and fratty. Keep on keepin on!"

  • "Urbana is conveniently attached to the Kimpton Palomar, but there are plenty of quieter gems in walking distance. Urbana was so loud that we had to shout. The specials had to be told to us individually. The tables for two are oddly longer than wide which made it even harder to connect with my partner. The food and service were fine, but we couldn't wait to get out. Don't go at a peak hour if you want to talk."

  • "phenomenal breakfast! loved the polenta and poached eggs!"

  • "As we usually do we wanted to order a bottle of wine... so the story begins. It took 35 minutes from order of the wine to actually seeing it at our table. There appeared to be major confusion about the wine we ordered because the menus we received had different listings than the one the waiter had. The waiter was very apologetic but couldn't explain what had happened. The manager apologized, brought us some appetizers to cool our jets. They were awesome: eggplant caponata and buffalo mozzarella on a paper-thin roasted pepper. The food was excellent. Pizzas are great, but they need to leave them in the oven for a few more minutes so they can get a crust."

  • "Have been to Urbana quite a bit lately and it's been overwhelmingly positive. It's close and easy which is great, but the food is really good and the service is approachable and friendly. Great wine selection and reasonably priced food and beverage options are a definite plus. It can get noisy at night and bar seating can be tough to score on weeknights during happy hour but I'm really starting to like Urbana."

  • "Wanted to go to lunch close but not close to the office in that I would have to worry about office traffic. Food and service was great!"

  • "Came here again for a birthday brunch for a friend. Very happy to see the bottomless mimosas back. Good service although we weren't told until the end that only 4 cards could be accepted and then there were additional issues with the credit card. Had the pizza which was good."

  • "You will want to order more than one of these small plate dishes. If you are with a group they are good for sharing. But don't come expecting traditional lasagna and spaghetti because you won't find it. Everything I tasted was delicious."
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "overall, fantastic experience. I love sharing food when I go out and this was the perfect place. We all were able to taste everything on the table without overeating. The bottled cocktails were amazing and a cool twist on traditional bar service. Thanks!"
