Urban Solace has a very eclectic yet country home-cooked food menu. I loved this place and will definitely go back. Was wary about trying the chicken and dumplings since my dad used to make the best of those ever, but this did NOT disappoint! Cheese biscuits to die for, too!

Made reservation for 6 on a Saturday night and they call you the day before to confirm and ask you if you want to sit inside/outside, I choose outside. So when we arrive they inform us that "they had to rearrange" and we are now sitting inside (which is VERY loud and almost impossible to have a normal conversation). They said they had a lot of people that wanted to sit outside and we could wait 30 minutes if we wanted to. Why even ask you where you want to sit if you do not plan on honoring it? Anyway, the food and service afterwards was worth the inconvenience.

Place was decorated really nice-lots to look at. Loved the stained glass windows with the brick and wood elements. Greeting really warmly by hostesses. Was really excited to try this place. Menu, wine list looked great, and our food was indeed delicious-but our service was off. Our server left us waiting for too long. We didn't get our drink until 45-50 minutes after seated. In fact, it came after our appetizers. When our main meal came, our server never came over to see how we were doing. We were celebrating a birthday and when reservations were made they asked if we would mind if Ice cream was brought over- this never came. The service basically was a buzz-kill to the night. I don't think we will be back.

Loved our experience at Urban Solace. Had a great dinner. Menu had a nice variety, and not overwhelming in choices. Vegetarian and gluten free options were great. (Not for me, but others at our table). Didn't look at the wine list, so can't comment. A little pricey, but we got what we paid for.

Went to Uban Solace based on recommendation of a friend. Was not disappointed. The sweetbreads were very tasty but the seasoning overpowered the delicate flavor of the sweetbreads. The beef cheeks were also very tasty but the seasoning overpowered the flavor of the meat. The cornmeal coated trout with corn pudding which was outstanding. It was lightly flavored so you could taste the fish. The carmel pot de creme was outstanding! Our server Lauren was terrific. She was friendly and very knowledgeable. We learned a little bit about the year she spent traveling in Southeast Asia and shared our travel experiences. We have registered to have her serve us whenever we dine there in the future.

The food was good at Urban Solace but $11.50 for 3 oz drinks is simply absurd. Who puts up with that anyway? The service was also a little slow. If the drinks were larger and the service was better, I would give this a 5 star review.

We've been there for lunch but not in a while - first time for dinner and it was quite good. Share the Mexican shrimp appitizer; my husband had the roasted chicken (ate down to the bone) and I loved my duck. Small but very good wine by the glass list - had a great white from Spain. Ate outside starting early at 6 p.m. on a Friday and when left at 7:30 it was packed and pretty noisy. Several families (nice) and a group mix of people.

I enjoyed the sweetbreads, biscuits, cocktails, and pot de creme. Duck confit was surprisingly dry, but all accompaniments to the dish were paired well. Beef cheeks were a bit under seasoned. Good value for portion size. Attentive service.

Wonderful dishes with layers of flavors from the salads through main dishes and desserts. I requested a substitution for the pickled greens and received wonderful sautéed vegetables with lardons that were to die for. Unfortunately, the grits that were supposed to be under my chicken were missing, but they did provide once I pointed it out.

Urban Solace is my go-to choice when I want to go somewhere with excellent food, service and a diverse menu. I've gone several times with groups of 6 or more, several with food restrictions, where everyone ordered something different off the menu and not one person was disappointed with their meal - a rarity in my experience. Great cocktails, an excellent wine menu and a knowledgeable, friendly staff, Urban Solace is a great place for foodies without the San Diego snooty-foodie attitude.

The food and service is always spot on. It was my second visit to the restaurant and there will definitely be future visits. The cheese board was generous-- I didn't care for the think crisps they served so they promptly brought additional slices of fig bread. The skirt steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The fries are to die for.

Stopped in before swing dance lessons at Queen Bee's (block+ away and also recommended) for quick dinner and server recommended the Sea Bass (she ordered it) and Meatloaf (ordered for myself). Both were UNBELIEVABLY good and we would both order both of them again. Server was attentive and helpful without being overbearing even though we were one of only 4 tables eating in the early evening. Manager also came by to check on our satisfaction (emma) and commented she was a big fan of both of our dishes. While I had been to Urban Solace before for happy hour and blunch, this was OUR first time for dinner. If you haven't visited US you need to. Five stars food, service and fun. p.s. yes, that is a picture of Ron Burgundy on the Bar wall.

Alas, I didn't take a photo of what we ate, as the presentation was quite good. I had the not your mama's meatloaf which was very tasty (mix of lamb, beef and pork, I think). I was a bit skeptical about the mixture thing but it was quite good. I stole some of my son's hanger steak and that was fantastic. A poster of Will Ferrell was very prominent over the bar area and I have to ask what the connection there is. Forgot to ask.

I love both Solace and Urban Solace. (I only wish they hosted jazz music. It's my only complaint.) The food is super, they offer a terrific gluten free menu and have a decent kids menu. From overseas. Came for dinner. Ambience was nice, chose to sit outside but you can smell the smoke from the streets, couldn't be helped. Service was fine, friendly, basic, average, enough. Food wise; ordered the biscuits (savory scones) which were excellent. Must try! Mains; 1/2 roast chicken with grits; very average, skip. Pork belly: well cooked, garnished with spring onions/green onions and coriander/cilantro. So I think a side of creamy, cheesey, mashed potatoes is out of place. Braised beef cheeks; had better, better than the chicken. Steak; best of the 4, ordered medium, must be the cut because it was quite "stringey" and tough - should have ordered medium rare or rare. Disappointed, wasn't disastrous. Wouldn't return.
