A word from Urban Grub
In a city known for putting up platinum food as well as platinum records, Nashville has a bounty of restaurant options but none as unique, exciting
and diverse as the sure-fire hit Urban Grub. Stuffy upscale is out…..ethnic,
healthy, casual and pick-up is in which makes Urban Grub the next big star
on the Nashville dining scene. The menu is a combination of southern traditions
with a “flavored up tweak, ” fresh fish and seafood, fresh shucked oysters,
smoked and grilled meats and vegetables, and cantina style hand-helds.

Recently celebrated a birthday with a girls night out and had a fantastic time and delicious meal. We were seated promptly and our server, Ken, did an excellent job. He made great suggestions, had a fun personality and encouraged us to linger and enjoy our celebration. We especially enjoyed the shrimp and grits, Scottish salmon and lobster flatbread. Manager Garth did a wonderful job checking on us and making us feel welcome. Will definitely return!

Everything we tried at urban grub was mouthwatering delicious. The charcuterie was a great way to start the evening, and both of our entrees were incredible. The balance and mixture of flavors was unexpected and great. Can't wait to go back and sample some more dishes! We left feeling satisfied but not over stuffed, and the fireplace and ambience on a cold night made for a great date. The waiters were very talkative which could have been too much, but we enjoyed it!

I've been to Urban Grub before and had a very pleasant experience. However, this time, my mind has been completely changed. My friend and I were seated quickly and the waiter was great. We both ordered the crab spagetti. I almost ordered this on my last visit and instead had the shrimp and grits, which was rich but very good. The crab spagetti came out immediately and was plopped in front of us. There was absolutely no flavor what.so.ever. We sent it back and they gave us Shrimp and Grits immediately and plopped in front of us. I will tell you .. this place has wonderful grits but there were little to be found amongst the pool of gravy. I ate my shrimp and the few bites of grits that I could find. My friend sent hers back. Believe me I hated paying $26 for 4 shrimp. It just wasn't a good night. The whole experience was rushed and just bad in general. I don't think I'll be giving it another chance.

The 'assistant" server was excellent, but who ever our real server was never revealed himself, and our food took way too long because of a 'miscommunication.' Those happen in any busy restaurant, but it's all about how the mgr responds in those cases that makes the difference.

We ate outside on the patio by the fireplace even though it was very cold. They also have very nice heaters. It was mostly warm enough except for the wind. The service was very good. The drinks were good , not great. The food was very good, not excellent. But we will return again. Overall we enjoyed it and it was a good experience.

We went to urban grub on a Saturday afternoon. We were quickly sat and were given a very energetic description of the menu options. The only thing was, that the sea food buffet looked extremely picked over and that is what I wanted. I decided to order off the menu.. but other than that. Everything was great :)

I have visited Urban Grubb 3 times. Once with a large group, once with a moderate group and once on a date with hubby. Each time the food has been remarkable and the service was truly exceptional. On each visit the manager has stopped by the table to ensure our satisfaction. Of course, there is nothing to complain about, but I always feel that when a manager visits the tables he really cares about his business. The manager at UG is personable, knowledgeable and friendly. The food is to die for too. This is probably one of my favorite places to dine in Nashville.

We sat for twenty minutes before our server came over, and we ordered drinks. They came twenty minutes later. The food was fine, but were portions tiny. Our second round of drinks were ordered before our food came and showed up when we were leaving. This was by far the worst service we've had at any restaurant in the past few years. Worse, the server didn't seem to care. No apologies ever came our way.

I have never been disappointed with a meal at Urban Grub. My husband and I went most recently to celebrate his birthday. We started with a dozen raw oysters (Connecticut). For our entree, we split the Red Snapper special. It was prepared in a smoky broth which tasted outstanding. We also split the Trout which is one of our favorites. As usual, the trout was also delicious. One of my other favorite entrees is the Shrimp and Grits. I highly recommend you try it. Urban Grub has an excellent wine list and custom cocktails as well.

Our go-to place for brunch -- great food and service every time. The Tennessee hot brown -- decadent and big enough for two. We tried a few items from the charcuterie menu -- delicious andouille (they charge extra for it, but it's worth it and you get a good-sized portion). Great staff and we had the FSU game on the tv at our booth.

We started with Pork Fries, which were very good, especially in their Alabama white sauce (though, being from Alabama, I can attest that it is NOT "Alabama white sauce"). Everything was downhill from there. I had the Hot Chicken Tacos, which should be named "Plain Chicken Sandwich." All this dish consisted of was a piece of not-at-all-hot chicken between two pieces of bread w/ a hint of some kind of white sauce. Very underwhelming & not at all hot. I doused the second one in hot sauce. Much better! My girlfriend had the Grilled Scottish Salmon, which was slightly better taste-wise, but undercooked even for salmon. Very underwhelming overall. We'll probably give it one more try and call it quits if that doesn't up the standard.

So disappointed with Urban Grubb. First, they botched our reservation. Then Sat us at an outside table that was not heated on a very cold night. Then the server forgot to enter half our appetizers order so we waited about 45 min for no food. Ended up leaving 2 hours later bc there was no warmer table to move us to. Servers rude and could have cared less. Manager cared EVEN LESS than server. We left after 2 and 1/2 hours with no dinner. Went to a different restaurant and had a great meal and service! I was an Urban grubb regular before this. This was such a disappounent. Lacking good management and organization and customer service skills.

I've eaten at Urban Grub 5 or 6 times since they opened. Food is always good. Service is above average. This was no different. The food was very good, and the service, from server to manager was excellent. The manager/sommelier went out of his way to try to find a wine that my finicky guest would enjoy. All appreciated. BUT...there was an incident...near our table. At first we thought it was a disgruntled patron yelling at a server...vigorously...we actually thought that a fight might break out. Turned out it was only the owner...berating an employee for failing to accomplish an assigned task...Off-putting to say the least. Someone might...delicately...suggest to him that this was not the time nor the place. Good luck with that...

"Grab" onto a fantastic dining experience at Urban Grub. We were able to secure a "last minute" Friday evening reservation which are only available from 5-6:30pm. Great locale and the restaurant has a unique ambiance. We especially enjoyed the selection of music playing throughout the dining areas, both inside and out. Restaurant configured into several different sections, each with its own character, most with its own gas fireplace or pit. We asked for "al fresco" seating and were seated in the outdoor "herb garden" with its very own tree and fire pit and only two dining tables, a wonderful dining environment. Our table was street-side but shielded from traffic by dense shrubbery. Great menu with a variety of unique offerings.

I had not been back to the old neighborhood in years, so when I came upon the Urban Grub the first time it stood out as "interesting". My first visit, the waiting time for a table was one and a half hours.....so I did not stay. This visit, however, I made a reservation before coming into town, and BOY was it worth it! Starting with the small homemade biscuits, butter and jam......and leading into the aptly descriptive entrees, there are delightful surprises waiting with each bite. Though one might think this is "southern" cuisine, I would caution that this label is not true to expectations. It is so much more!

Perfect spot for brunch with the girls! I will definitely be back. The peach bellinis are so good, we ordered a carafe for the table! The eggs benedicts were cooked to perfection (and I'm very picky about my benedicts). The grits and hashbrown casserole are to die for as well! It was busy at 1pm, so the noise level was a little high. We had to talk very loudly to hear each other across the table. Other than that, the atmosphere is perfect. Nice stone fireplace, and wood accents...made me feel like we were dining in a cabin in Jackson Hole!

We were seated immediately and had excellent service the entire night. The food was outstanding, especially the steak and the pork chops. Someone else at our table ordered the pasta and said it was delicious as well. Desserts and drinks were good too, and they even do a pitcher of margaritas for a very reasonable price. Made reservations on based recommendation of clients for an upcoming getaway in Nashville. Absolutely WONDERFUL! We were given the Chef's Table, which was an experience within itself. The food was incredible from the apps to the dessert. The Shrimp and Grits were fantastic (speaks volumes coming from a Charlestonian). Service was impeccable and we were treated with true southern hospitality. The kitchen is semi-open and the experience of watching chefs prepare your food is wonderful. They age their steaks on site and you have an opportunity to see that as well. Would def recommend to anyone that will be in Nashville for dinner!
