Urban FondueFondu is more than just cheeseMy wife and I were looking for a unique place to dine for the evening but wanted good martinis too. Urban Fondu and Bartini were a great find. I had no idea that fondu was more than just cheese and that you can actually cook your own food right in a hot broth at your own table. There is definitely nothing quite like it. The food was good but not awesome. I still prefer grilled vs fondues but it was overall very tasty. The waiter was very knowledgeable and engaged us in a little conversation which was nice. I'd say the only negative was the couch-like seats with the straight up vertical backs- not very comfy. The seats also were too sit and I sank down too low to be at a comfortable eating height. It's cheaper and better than The Melting Pot. It has more options and the dipping sauces are amazing!! The only reason it's not a five star rating in my review is because I'm a craft beer fan and the beer selection is very small. That said, beer is not what they promote, and they still had a couple tasty choices. Get the Urban Fondue expirience for three courses of awesome and leave stuffed and happy!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday party funWe had a group of 7 and the service was wondederful the menu was very full and as a group we had a hard to deciding what to get so the waiter took charge and made perfect recommendations. Was just there with a party of 9 for a girlfriends birthday and had the most wonderful time. Our server was helpful, fun and very attentive!! We were not rushed through our meal or to leave when we were done! Great night out! We had been to The Melting Pot previously, and I was unimpressed with their food quality in comparison to their prices. Rey have an extensive martini menu thanks to be adjoined to Bartini and yummy food. I'd recommend skip the main course/meat dishes and order an extra cheese. We got the port wine cheese fondue which was amazing! Also ordered a side of grilled asparagus which rounded out the first course. We shared the fondue for two for the meat course with the chicken broth. It was good but nothing too special. The dessert course is wonderful. The fondue dishes - cheese and chocolate were amazing and very satisfying. Things kinda went downhill when we had our entree. We basically "cooked" meat and lobster In broth sitting In a fondue pot, sort of like shabu shabu. But the little tea candle under the pot didn't provide enough heat to make the broth hot. The dipping sauces were very interesting, but since the meats were kinda lukewarm and not cooked right, it distracted from the enjoyment a bit. We left very full and thought the evening was fun. The only thing I would have liked it more veggies to dip in the cheese fondue! It was the best cheese fondue I had ever had. Since I am gluten free I could not eat the bread. They have some sides for dipping but some mushroom, broccoli and cauliflower would have been nice along with the bread. I'd love to come back for a more intimate dinner with the hubster. There were five of us. The waiter was attentive and friendly, and offered great suggestions. The food was great. The port wine cheese fondue is fantastic and we tried the fondue of the month which was a mustard cheddar. It was divine. For dessert we got the heath bar fondue and the marionberry cheesecake fondue. I wanted to lick the bowls.
