Diner Reviews
  • "Food was very good, dessert was average. Ambiance was as expected and fun. Very good waitress and service."

  • "The brunch menu left me with too many choices, which is a good thing, as I will try to come back to try the items I didn't choose. The best, however, is the bloody mary bar! Lots of flavors of mix to choose from, unlimited garnish and no end of spice! I could just have a few bloody's and load up on garnish for my "meal". Shared 2 meals with a friend - the hash of the day - chipotle carnita, I think. Sounded better than it was. Not a lot of meat - too many potatoes- and large cut ones at that. The mac n cheese was really good. Would definitely get that again! It was pretty chilly in the restaurant - to the point where I wanted to keep my coat on. Bar side seems noisier than restaurant side."

  • "My husband, my 4year-old and i were so surprised! Before our son we woud go out to eat all the time, now we only get to the 'city' once in a while and its been hard to go back to uptown after 'The Uptown bar' closed. Anyway, we ended up making reservations mostly because the time worked and we ended up loving it. The food was fresh and thoughtful. My biscuits and gravy was so yummy, i keep thinking about it. They brought my son a big bowl if fresh fruit so my husband.and i could look over the menu in pease This was a wonderful resterantand im so happy to have a place in uptown to bring my son just like i grew up going to the Uptown. I want him to know that its important to get out of the suburbs once in a while!"

  • "Uptown Cafeteria has some great appetizer and bar bites - all day Sunday happy hour (which is probably my favorite). The menu is pretty basic with a few unique twists. This place is good for groups or if you happen to be in the uptown area."

  • "This was only my second time to eat here. I have Celiac disease, so I always appreciate interesteing alternatives that are gluten-free. And, my waitress knew what that meant! My son chose UC for his 18th birthdat dinner. He has been here with friends and loves it. He likes to try different foods, but returns for the chicken and waffles. Great dining experience!"

  • "Quality of food and service seems to have gone down hill since I last visited."

  • "Met some friends for brunch last Sunday. My first time at this restaurant. Orders ranged from steak and eggs to biscuits and gravy to mac and cheese. Everyone was happy with the their orders. The waitress was amazing too!! I'll be back."

  • "I went and met a friend for breakfast, we had a very enjoyable breakfast and the place was awesome, the only down fall of going so early is there are more children and it makes it hard to enjoy conversation with someone when you cannot hear them due to screaming kids"

  • "It was my first time using the online reservation and of course I planned wrong and I was late but they were so awesome and got me right in."

  • "We ordered a variety of items among our group and everyone had the same comments, lack of seasoning. Of course not the waitresses problem, but she also did not come and check on us after our food was served, except maybe to walk past us to the kitchen. Disappointed."

  • "I come on Wednesdays at 8 for trivia with my friends. It's fun, but not very fair because they do not enforce the cell phone rule well and every other team is looking up the answers. The speakers are also not quite loud enough so it's hard to hear the questions. I haven't gone on other nights so I can only comment on what the service is like on Wednesdays - it's not great. I know they are busy, but the servers don't check on the tables too often. Also they are always out of menus. However, the happy hour food is very good and cheap and the servers are very friendly! I haven't tried anything on the regular menu, but it all looks good."

  • "This my third time dining here at the Cafeteria. While some of the food is very tasty others are not as. The meals are not always hot which leads me to believe they leave it sitting (not under heat lamps) for a while before serving. While the management takes care of you if you are not pleased I still want to be able to go and actually really enjoy my meal. We had a rather large group and several said their food was not hot, barely warm. Not sure we will be returning, too bad since they do have a good menu."
