  • "I read about Unum on yelp and decided to give it a try with a few friends. We were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food delicious and nicely prepared. A couple of the ladies had the pork loin and exclaimed that it was cooked to perfection - not dry or rubbery, but flavorful and moist. Crab cakes were also a success - no filling but all crab meat. Brussel sprouts were also very good and I would definitely recommend the braised short rib pasta. Wine choices would make any wine connoisseur happy. All in all a great experience!"

  • "You must go to this little gem on M Street in Georgetown. The food was excellent _ eggplant roulade, hangar steak, crab cakes, goat cheese raviolini with fresh vegetable. All presented in a fresh, fun way. Service was solid. Cocktails inventive and good. The restaurant is small so the four, boisterous students were very loud, but it was all good as soon as they left."

  • "Had dinner twice before at Unum with a friend, usually at 5:30 pm and we always had a good experience. Last Wednesday, I invited my daughter in-law there for dinner who was visiting from out of town and we both were looking forward to spending some quality time together. The reservation was for 7:45 pm. The restaurant at that time seemed like a different place from what I had experienced the previous two times. The noise level was unbearable, we couldn't carry on a decent conversation. The gazpacho we ordered was bland, the fish and pasta so so, the only good part was the desert. The server we had loudly and carelessly put plates and cutlery on the table and didn't seem to care what he was doing. A very disappointing experience."

  • "Every aspect of our trip to Unum for dinner was satisfying. The atmosphere was intimate, with the noise level quiet enough to speak at a normal decibel, but loud enough to sustain a private conversation. Food and drink to highlight: the Barlett pear martini was the smoothest cocktail I have ever had. The lobster dou was a lovely pair sweet/ savory verses acidic flavors- each ingredient tasted good on its own, and combined. I had one bite from each of my husbands half entrees- the braised short rib pasta was extremely tender and elevated with the red wine jus and his pork loin was cooked perfectly with the cherry bourbon sauce stealing the show as it basted the meat as well as the creamy kale. Reasonable pricing for amazing quality, a gem."

  • "Menu seemed promising, especially liked the option of half-portion v. full portion for entree, felt reassured by the positive online reviews. Result was very disappointing. Kale was not cleaned properly and so much sand to the point of being inedible. Something must have been going on in the fryer in the kitchen that day because all the fried food came out soggy and greasy -- the fries, the soft shell crab. The quail was ever so slightly overcooked. The noodles in the short rib pasta were over cooked. Overall if you are looking for a trendy dig for drinks with friends, this might be it. But don't go there for the food. Serious execution problems."

  • "Beautifully presented, interesting combinations--and it even tastes good! So many restaurants succeed at #1 and #2, but forget the point: #3. If it LOOKS good and SOUNDS good, it must BE good. #1 and #2 are easy. #3 is the challenge & the whole party enjoyed everything. The menu is varied, with a nice option of an appetizer portion on most of the entrees, which offers a broad range of choices as well as the option to have a varied meal that isn't high volume, if you're not hungry. Eggplant, crab cakes, mini cheesecakes, all very delightful. A great addition to the neighborhood."

  • "I recently dined at UNUM for a business dinner for 5. It was amazing. The food was outstanding and it was great for conversation. Reservations are recommended because the space is small. We loved the options for small plates for dinner to try multiple entrees or for a lighter fare. It was so hard to choose! The vegetable options were fantastic as well. Highly recommended!"

  • "Very good food, attentive but not obsequious service, good wine and beer list. The laguintas on tap was especially good. Really enjoyed the mortadella meatballs. The indian spiced lamb shank was perfect as was the flank steak with the horseradish creamed spinach. I also really appreciated that you could get half plates for entrees because it was just the right amount of meat, priced fairly. I probably would not have ordered it if I had to pay $28 for way more than what I could eat. It's not an inexpensive meal but not outrageously priced either. Given the quality of the food, it was fairly priced, although the wine by the glass was higher than I thought reasonable. Overall, a good meal, nice ambiance and nice service. We'll be back. "

I wanted to change tables, but the manager came over and said he solved the problem. He didn't move us and it was annoying hearing the dishes and silverware clattering all night. Don't go unless you don't care to be heard or hear your company. "

  • "What a cozy spot, in an ultra-convenient location.Service started slow, but picked up. Food was excellent. We had the Humboldt Fog cheese plate to start, and it was wonderfully done. Proper temperature for the delicious cheese, six outstanding condiments and terrific and plentiful thin, salted,crisp crackers, and bread. Then we had the stellar, light, mortadella meatballs on polenta. I LOVE that Unum offers half plates for many entrees. I had the half hangar steak. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. My daughter had the excellent, gnocchi entree. I love this place! Bar seems very nice, but we didn't have time. Nice bathroom too!"

  • "If you are dining in Georgetown, make your reservation at Unam Restaurant. While you enjoy a delicious variety of breads and crackers on the table, peruse the menu of broad, inviting choices. You can not go wrong! The cozy atmosphere welcomes you to a special evening where we enjoyed a leisurely gourmet dinner. Conversation is easily shared in this quiet environment. The cheesecake paired with homemade blueberry sorbet gave a perfectly balanced dessert of rich and refreshing. We can't wait to go back and try different entrees."

  • "We were anticipating a pleasant dinner and had no other plans for the evening, but unfortunately got the feeling right away that we shouldn't be taking our (or their) time. It's not a comfortable situation when you realize you're being rushed. We used a strategy for not letting it happen but it took work throughout the evening. The restaurant was definitely not full either when we got there or when we left. The food was good, although a bit out of balance when it came to portion of vegetable with regard to amount of meat (not enough veggies) and it would have been nice to know what the spreads were when they came with the bread. The service was very attentive as you might guess considering the objective."

  • "We went to Unum on a Sunday night, so it wasn't too crowded. We saw the high ranking it got on Trip Advisor and expected really high quality. Unum was OK - but not as great as the other reviews. Service was good - we were seated quickly in a very comfortable location; drinks were offered and bought quickly, also. We were not pressed to order quickly. However, somewhere during the meal, our server must have left, because another took over. The appetizers were fair (griller quail was almost tasteless; eggplant was not special at all) as were the dinners (although we appreciated the half-size portions). The mac and cheese side was wonderful and the Brussels sprouts were pretty good."
