  • "The chicken was very dry and the chips were cold. The portions were not too bad for the $3 special price, but I would never pay the normal $8.95 price for that little food which was not good either. Perhaps another dish would have been better so I might give the Chop House another chance if I have time."

  • "My wife and I took a business client and his wife to University Chop House for dinner. We were coming from out of town on a Friday night so I made a reservation, but it was not necessary. When I made the reservation I asked for a quiet table and the hostess confirmed that request when she seated us. The bar choices were good and our group had red wine, white wine, martini with blue cheese stuffed olives and single-malt scotch. The first person in our party order the Filet Oscar and the other three thought it sounded so good they got the same thing. We had a variety of salads which were all very good. It might have been nice to have more variety in our entrees, but it is hard to imagine anything else could have been better."

  • "The new menu was great - some good selections. The food was good. My only complaint was the service, or more the time. While we had a table of 6 (not that big of a group), the service was extremely slow. What frustrated me more than anything was that usually for a table our size, our server would get the help of someone else to bring out all the plates at one time. Instead, she brought two out, then went back, and it took minutes before everyone had their plates. They really should team up when serving larger tables. I will say our server was extremely nice, and did a great job of interacting with the table."

  • "Surprise jewel in a shopping mall, but separated well enough to preserve a well appointed, relaxed feel. Both the Berkshire pork chop and Filet Oscar were wonderful. The gingered calamari was outstanding. Lauren, our server, was attentive but not intrusive. On a par with other great restaurants in larger cities near us."

  • "This is a chophouse... They use the lowest grade of beef. The ribeye is so thin it would not be possible to cook it anyway but well done. Waitress went missing for 20 minutes...way too expensive. I am very serious.. Outback or any franchise restaurant is much better."

  • "The food was awful. I had to send my steak back 3 times and by the third time I gave up. When I fist got it. The steak was cold and wasn't cooked all the way. I sent it back to be cooked a little more. It came back and nothing was done to it... Still cold and undercooked. Finally they cooked me a new steak and it was cooked just right but it had no flavor. All I could tast was the grill. I also go au gratin potatoes. It was cooked with old potatoes... Couldn't eat it. I will never go back. It's way over priced and the food is awful"

  • "My husband and I have ate here several times, usually for a quiet meal to celebrate a special something, as we don't often eat out. I have never been disappointed by the food. The salads are creative and fresh, and both the steaks and seafood items are always better than we expect. I had the lobster ravioli, and thought it was delicious. Not a huge portion, but with my salad and bread it was perfect. Wine selection was good. Out of alot of beer which was pretty weird. Service was good; waiter was nice and efficient, but not overpowering. Wasn't rushed, but didn't feel like I was waiting around for the next thing either. The tables aren't right on top of the other,so the noise level was low, and no TV in the dining area! Yay! Will go back!"

  • "We printed the menu at home so we could preview our choices. My husband's prime rib was perfect. He ordered medium rare. I ordered the tuna steak rare but it was more medium. The flavor was still good though. If I choose the tuna again I would probably tell them to barely get the grill marks and take it up. Tartar would be acceptable for me. The calamari appetizer that we had was wonderful! But you should know that the quantity is enough for a meal. It's enough for 3 or 4 as an appetizer. We also had the blackened scollops which were delicious. Our waitress, Allison Brown was wonderful. Overall, we loved our meal and the area we were seated...a booth. I had requested a quiet table on Open Table."

  • "I'm not sure if it was due to the fact that it was New Years Eve or if the service is generally just slow. We made a reservation the day before, upon arrival we stood in the hostess area for approx. 15min, before I had to track down our hostess. Once seated it was another 10 min.before our server arrived with water and took our drink order another 10min. before our drinks arrived and we ordered appetizers another 20 min. before our appetizers arrived, then one was incorrect, another long wait for our entree's . In all we were there over 2 1/2 hrs. The food was very good and I would like to try them again, on a non-holiday, before I would say that I would never go back."

The food itself was quite good overall: chicken was moist and not overcooked, garlic potatoes nicely prepared, bourbon sauce was also flavorful without being overbearing or over sweet; asparagus was very good with the hollandaise sauce being average. The sirloin and ribeye were done as requested, surface seasonings were not overpowering; overall quite tasty. The ribeye had a bit more surface fat than expected, could have been trimmed a bit closer. Desserts were varied and up to expectations, good flavor for each. The background music was appropriate for the season and not too loud. For Greenville, quite good."

  • "In town, from the Philadelphia region, celebrating our daughter's graduation from ECU. The University chophouse provided us with a exceptional dining experience. The seared Caribbean tuna and the steaks were cooked to perfection. They melted in your mouth. The shrimp and grits rivaled anything found in New Orleans and the service was excellent. If we are ever in the area again we will be returning. A Gem in Greenville."

The University Chophouse is quiet, comfortable, has excellent service and GREAT food. We will certainly return again in the future. The menu is varied, the prices reasonable and did I mention how good the food was. Try it - You will like it."

  • "My boyfriend ordered the filet, while it was a nice cut of meat and cooked to the proper temperature with good char, it had NO flavor. He had to request steak sauce to finish a 7oz cut, which really should have come with a side AND salad. I ordered the seafood mixed grill; the special. The salmon and shrimp were over cooked and dry, the halibut (I think) was fishy and inedible. Service was passable. We were celebrating a special day and I expected much more. This was strike 2, don't think I'll try again."

  • "Very disappointed this time with the quality of the food. Sent one steak back as it was cremated, not just burnt on the outside. Meat did not have its usual wonderful flavor. The second time the steak came back the mushrooms tasted like they ahd been dropped in the french fries fat to warm them up. every other time we have been there it has been excellent - Must have been a change in Chef."

  • "We were dismayed to learn lunch is no longer being served here, but the dinner was quite nice. The food presentation was excellent and the food itself was excellent. We shared an app of Calamari which was actually beautiful done and tasty and I had a side salad of tomatoes and mozzarella (very ample & fresh) and their ahi tuna app for dinner. It was more than enough and the perfect meal. Others enjoyed the onion coated prime rib au jus which they loved and one person enjoyed their special app of scallops in polenta. And a good polenta is hard to do. It was yummy. Great experience."
