My favorite restaurant in Castle Rock and among my top five in Denver. The lamb lollypop was so tender and devoid of gaminess I was amazed. It was perfectly seasoned. I would suggest to them to made it an entree instead of a small plate, but the size was perfect for me. Their special soup was a cauliflower potato that was just the right consistency and subtly flavored. My dessert was the white chocolate bread pudding with triple sec. It was custardy and delicious. Also, their charred caeser salad is now perfectly proportioned. You can't beat their small plates. The special of the night, a smokey shrimp pasta was a bit too smokey.

Uniscali's has become one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always delicious and the service is attentive but not overbearing. The menu is fresh and inventive. We have never been disappointed by anything we've been served. They have a great selection of both small plates that can be combined with a salad for a main entree or big plates that are satisfying but still leave room for one of their delicious desserts. It can become a bit loud during peak dining hours but it's a good kind of loud as people enjoy themselves in a fun and unique dining atmosphere. Reservations are a must as they are always busy.

This restaurant is a true Italian find. Everything we tried (several appetizers, the homemade soup of the day, the entrees, the homemade uniscotti/cappacino) were not only delicious but also very unique. This was our first visit; but, we have made reservations already for our anniverary - we want the open Chef's Table Dinner!

Food was very good; there were nice variations on the menu. Service was good, our server checked in on a good schedule, the owner came by as well. Reasonable prices. Would like to see a few more wines, regardless of that we will return. We have eaten at the sister restaurant - Union several times and always have had a good experience.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 3/20/2010
Uniscali is unique. Flavors may not be what you're expecting which is delightful to some, disappointing to others. Offerings for my kids was not adequate (noodles, or pizza). The sound absorbtion panels are distubing and an eyesore to an otherwise spiffy place. THis was our 2nd visit, and was better than first, when we thought we would not return due to disappointing flavors, but word of mouth sent us back. Things have improved, so we will likely return, but might feed the kids at home first.

This was the third time we visited and it has improved each time. The chef is allowed to play with the menu and has developed an interesting cuisine with many pleasent surprises. We especially liked the intimate atmosphere with the kitchen and staff, everyone was relaxed and happy and the noise was a quiet buzz that said "life is great" but allowed conversation with my table mates. Dress was flexible, great to have really good food and service and feel comfortable in blue jeans. I would travel here for meal, it is wonderful it is so convieniet to my home.

    DenverVisitorVIP
    Dined on 2/25/2010
For 5280 it was too much food. They should cut back the portions just for the 5280 week. The lobster risotto was overcooked and the lamb shank had too much demi-glace in it. The appetizers and dessert were very good but again, the dessert was too much. However each and every time we've dined at Uniscali it has always been terrific! The chef and staff go the extra mile to accomodate you. The grilled bread with balsamic in the bread basket is a meal in itself. It's a very cool place for redneck Castle Rock. Bon Appetit

It was very crowded. I made my reservation through OpenTable and we arrived on time. They wanted to give us a table for 2 right behind the hostess stand, which was very tight and right by the front door. We declined that table, as they said there was someone else who paid their bill and were ready to leave. We waited another 25 minutes before getting a table. I understand it was New Years Eve, but we were almost going to scrap the whole dinner out for this special occasion as we were not being tended to while we were waiting. No one acknowledged that we were still waiting for a table, and there was no place to stand. We won't be going back.

My husband and I brought his mother out for her 69th birthday and were a bit disappointed. During our last dining experience we ordered the special and it was delicious. This time we ordered the fettucini bolognese and it was watery and overall tasteless. I appreciate the lightness of the menu items but the best part of the meal was the bread basket. More importantly my mother-in-law was disappointed with her chicken pasta dish that she described as "swimming in olive oil". I recommend sticking with the specials.

Since the restaurant is quaint in size, the noise level was naturally a little high. However, it does help when you don't want any tables around you eaves dropping on your conversation. We requested a table against the wall in the corner of the restaurant. Great spot overall. The happy hour goes from 4-6:00 pm and 8:00pm on. EVERYDAY! Even on Saturdays. Since our reservation was at 5:45, we were able to take advantage of some of the great items on the list. One of them being a great $2.00 Bellini. Service was outstanding as it is at Union (Uniscali's sister restaurant). Our waiter was one we have been served by over there as well. Always a good experience. We will definately be going back.
