Unfortunately, Jim Christiansen has already departed, but his, and McKee's food influence is still very apparent.
Enjoyed our lunch and the rooftop is spectacular, but could use some umbrellas for shade during the hot, mid-day sun.

The wild rice krispies and buffalo oysters were awesome snacks. We each had a different entree (Oxtail Burger, Trout and Salmon), all were really good, and the presentation was great. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of were the rice gnocci that came with the salmon...they were a little gummy.
When the weather permits, the rooftop retracts, and makes for an awesome outdoor seating area. The roof was open for a while and it was wonderful. The rain came and the roof was closed. Very cool! The negative is that it got really loud. They need something to absorb sound when the roof is closed. I was there for my girlfriend's birthday and I got the table I requested and I was seated earlier then my reservation was. Everyone was so nice and the chef even put a small happy birthday candy on my girlfriend's ice cream. I would totally recommend Union. The atmosphere was beautiful, and even though it was raining a little bit, it didn't stop me from venturing out onto the outdoor deck. At night, you can see all of Minneapolis' night life. It was beautiful. You feel as if you are dining al fresco. I had the poached shrimp with arugula, fennel, beets and feta salad. The ingredients were fresh and delicious, but the overall salad was way too salty. My friend had the charred steak cobb salad and she said it was wonderful. The service was excellent and the ambience was warm, upbeat and very classy.
