Experience the Union of talent, creativity, art, food, and design.

Kaskaid Hospitality has been credited with bringing dining in the Twin Cities to new heights, and UNION Fish Market is the crown jewel in its latest unveiling of unique hospitality concepts. Painstaking attention was paid to every detail, from restoring the building’s original architectural treasures to installing the one-of-a-kind retractable rooftop. Kaskaid engaged a talented culinary team that holds themselves to the highest standards, following self-imposed rules to ensure every dish is special, surprising, and cohesive. We have created a menu that can be experienced in just the right proportions, from an elegant snack before the theater, to a celebratory 5-course tasting menu featuring ingredients that change daily.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "If the special Fish and Chips are still offered, try them out! Nice view if the roof is rolled back."

  • "Our party of five loved dining by the lights of the city at night. The appitizers and entrees were very good. We highly recommend the Union Restaurant for a great dining experience."

  • " Very small portions. I had seafood risotto. Tasty but scant on seafood and the grain. Feel I did not get my monies worth. Went to Crave for dessert. We asked waitstaff about portion size before we ordered. He said it was generous... no way. At end of our meal we were asked how everything was and we were candid about the disappointing portions. The wait staff did not have anything to say, just gave us our bill. I have been for happy hour previously and that was a positive experience. I would not recommend for dinner."

  • "Great views and very friendly waitress BUT both where far exceeded by the entrees! The food was much better than the roof top "Bar" scene."

  • "We had Jim for our server and he was fantastic - very attentive and careful with my food allergy! Thanks!"

  • "Restaurant's outdoor rooftop dining provides a one of a kind experience. Setting and wait staff are great, but food is mediocre at best. Go for drinks and an uncomplicated dish."

  • "We ate early because of evening plans. The service was great until 6 pm. We finished eating our main course a little after 6, but it took 30 more minutes to order dessert and pay the bill. As a result, our relaxing dinner turned into a rush to the next event. Our server was no where to be found or walked by without making eye contact. The number of diners did increase about that time, so perhaps there was not enough staffing. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience."

  • "The service all around was fair. Host and servers need training on do's and don'ts. Host - pay attention to reservation requests to please your customer. Servers - don't rub your nose and face at the table and fidget around when interacting with customers. Bus used dishes right away. Be more knowledgeable about events taking place in your own restaurant to be able to answer questions. Also, "I don't know" is insufficient. Always be willing to offer to get an answer."

  • "I went for Brunch with some friends on a Sunday. They had a good DJ and was an awesome day to be outside. The food was good."

  • "Needs to go to charm school. Personality of a stump. Waiter, food, excellent."
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "We have dined at the Union in the past and on this occasion found that the food was not as good. Of the four meals that were ordedered three of them were poor. Service was OK but most of the food was cold and also had little quality or taste. As a group we discussed looking elsewhere to dine in the future. This is unfortunate as the view and ambiance of this restaurant is top notch. However, for what you pay for a meal the food needs to improve a lot!"

  • "Had another great time on the roof. If the weather would cooperate, someday we will experience the roof being open. ;)"

  • "A nice varied menu. Fair prices for a high end downtown location. Service was detailed."
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "Very friendly wait staff! Polenta and Brussel Sprouts were amazing. Great Turkey Burger with Avocado! View of skyscrapers & especially Target Co -- beautiful with the City Lights."

  • "We were very surprised by our meal at Union after reading earlier reviews. We had a Social deal we had to use so we decided to go anyway. We had a reservation at 6:30 and were seated immediately even though they were very crowded. Our appetizer (tenderloin sliders) and main courses (filet and sea bass) were all fabulous . It was a little too busy for us, but it was a beautiful night, a great experience, and I highly recommend the Union rooftop!"

  • "I have eaten at the Union Rooftop three times. I am impressed every time. I don't eat meat so my choices are always limited. My family likes meat and chicken. The Rooftop offers great food for all of us. Great martinis or wine! Portions are appropriate so you don't feel over fed when you leave. Knowing that, salads and appetizers are a good idea before your meal."

  • "Great to sit outdoors in good weather. Very busy so service a little slow. Allow 1 1/2 hrs min. Sea bass was superb but needs at least one side to be filling."
    Dined on 7/8/2014
  • "I've been to the Rooftop a few times and have always enjoyed the food and service, but my last visit didn't turn out so great. I had water spilled over me when a serve knocked the glass over, the roof started leaking during a thunderstorm right over my grandma's head, and we waited 30-45 min for a dessert."
    Dined on 7/7/2014
  • "This was my second visit to the Union and it was again enjoyable. The appetizer portions were a bit small but reasonably priced during the happy hour. Great atmosphere and the staff is top notch."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "DJ action on Sunday mornings? Didn't realize it was on and poppin when I brought my kids for an early lunch. Lots of singles and strangely... Seniors. Food is good. Service was too slow. Still fun. Menu could add something for those who don't eat carbs. Kids liked sitting on the roof and waving to people on the street."

  • "Service was poor (e.g., server was especially unhelpful and borderline rude when it came to assisting one of our guests with an allergy) and the food lacked flavor and presentation. The restaurant was flexible with our reservation which was nice, but we sat right by the kitchen door and that added unpleasant noises to the experience. I dig the rooftop. Other aspects need improvement."

  • "We had few check backs. The check came without being asked for it when we wanted to order coffee and an after dinner drink. The coffee we ordered came 15 minutes late and cold."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Had 2 appetizers, the Asian wings & taco trio. Wings were slightly undercooked & slimy. Tacos had mostly cabbage & were tasteless. Beer served was on the warm side which was not appealing when sitting in the sun outside. All 4 dinners served were small & overpriced. Will not return.5110"

  • "The food was fantastic. Greatly exceeded my expectations. Our server got busy and disappeared during out main course but other than that he was fantastic. He knew the menu and every recommendation he made was excellent. My scallops were perfectly cooked which is hard to find!"
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "We just had appetizers which were tasty but came to the table cold. Person 2 tables over complained about the food and manager was trying to make them happy. Alright but nothing special."
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "We dined at 5:00 on the 4th of July, so it was early and a bit more quiet that I suspect would usually be the case. The roof was open, the sky was overcast, and the temperature was perfect. The two of us shared the Margharita flatbread pizza, a side of the roasted brussel sprouts, and the lobster BLT. All were excellent."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at Union. The service was great and the outdoor setting wonderful. Could offer more wine by the glass options."
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "This is a great rooftop restaurant, especially as the sun goes down. Plus, the sangria was simply amazing."

  • "Great view of downtown Minneapolis. Good food and service. Beautiful summer evening. Ahhh."
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "The food was great!!!! Everyone was so kind including management. My husband recently had eye surgery and all we're trying to get us a table that wasn't looking directly into the sun. We will definitely come back!!!"
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "The atmosphere was way too noisy. I was hoarse by the end of dinner. The website really depicted a much more intimate type setting. I wouldn't recommend this to friends"
    Dined on 7/1/2014
  • "We used to go to Union Rooftop quite a bit when it first opened, but have been disappointed by the menu and quality of food in the last year or so. Gone are more foodie-oriented items like the chicken liver parfait, replaced with an expanded flatbread pizza and sandwich menu. At least the service had remained exceptional, but this time we were seated in a different section than usual and were left unattended for at least 30 minutes by our server. For the entire meal she was disinterested in us, and numerous times appeared to forget what we had ordered, or neglected to check and see if the items we did order were delivered to our table."
    Dined on 6/30/2014
  • "I overheard someone say "this is where the fun is" and I couldn't agree more. It is special to sit on a rooftop. Although there are better views elsewhere, the idea that you can't be rained out and that this is a valiant experiment to trick MN into being hospitable weatherwise is a treat. I enjoyed the food, the service and my fellow diners."

  • "Friend and I had brunch, great atmosphere. Loved the unique feel the lack of a roof lent to the occasion. From what we could tell it would be accomidating for any group size."
    Dined on 6/30/2014
  • "Food could use some help. It's almost like there isn't a real chef in the back cooking, more like some cheap labor cooks!"
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "Lobster linguini was excellent, homemade pasta and succulent, plentiful lobster! Outstanding. The rest of the people in my party had skirt steak salad and salmon salad, all above average. The only complaint would be poor to fair service, I think our waitress was new or not well trained. We asked for bread to go with our lobster after it was already served and then she said, oh yes, that is complementary. She did not refill our water glasses enough and the water was warm when we did have to ask for it. We had the blueberry crumble which was wonderful, but not enough ice cream or crumble. It was mostly blueberries."

  • "We didn't pick the most optimal day. Because it was very windy, my long hair was all over the place, and I should have placed it in a clip beforehand. I imagined that we would have had a choice to be outside or inside- it was only outside. I had the sea bass which was very flavorful. My husband was thoroughly happy with the salmon, however, because we dine out often, the high number of dining experiences had us both thinking that Union Fish Market was worthy of a B+ grade overall. We had a Living Social deal which made it a perfect opportunity to experience UFM for the first time. There are other Twin Cities' restaurants specializing in fish we'd rather patronize."

  • "Compliments to the chef and staff for preparing a delicious meal. Each course was well presented and full of flavor! We would come back and try something else. Our server and the support staff were very attentive and helpful. Great job!"

  • "It was cold and very noisy in the restaurant. Lots of big groups made it difficult to have a quiet conversation. But the food and service were great. And if it hadn't been a stormy evening, we could have enjoyed the rooftop a bit more."
