Experience the Union of talent, creativity, art, food, and design.

Kaskaid Hospitality has been credited with bringing dining in the Twin Cities to new heights, and UNION Fish Market is the crown jewel in its latest unveiling of unique hospitality concepts. Painstaking attention was paid to every detail, from restoring the building’s original architectural treasures to installing the one-of-a-kind retractable rooftop. Kaskaid engaged a talented culinary team that holds themselves to the highest standards, following self-imposed rules to ensure every dish is special, surprising, and cohesive. We have created a menu that can be experienced in just the right proportions, from an elegant snack before the theater, to a celebratory 5-course tasting menu featuring ingredients that change daily.Continued

  • "We tried Union kind of spur of the moment and were very pleased. Food was great and our waiter, Matt, was very helpful and had great suggestions. The retractable rooftop is beautiful- it started snowing and it felt like we were inside a snow globe!"

  • "Union Rooftop is always a star in my book. I love to take people there when they come into town. The menu offers a wide variety of interesting things. The savory donut holes have to be experienced to appreciate them. The carpacio is always a winner as well. We had entrees that spanned the spectrum from a very nicely done caesar salad with a perfectly done soft boiled egg, to Chicken Confit and lastly a perfectly done skirt steak. Our waiter suggested a wine to us that again was outstanding. The 3 layer carrot cake with candied ginger, cream cheese mousse and orange dreamsicle. Lastly I inquired about what ports they had, our waiter suggested a Fortified Madeira which was outsanding!"

  • "Had a great evening at Union for a business dinner. The noise level made it difficult at times to hear, but besides that the atmosphere, food, and service was great. Highly recommend it for a great evening view of the city over dinner. "

  • "This was a great choice for our ladies night dinner. We had a show at the target center right after (perfect walking distance). Services was pretty good, a little slow, but server was nice. Food was great, however they were already out of a dish a few of us really wanted to try, it was only 6:00PM. All in all everyone agreed we'd go back, hopefully on a nice day so we could experience the retractable rooftop."

  • "I had a great time... Food was delectable, service was personable without being too much, ambiance on point to a T. Drinks were great too! It was an all around fantastic experience. I will be returning soon!"

  • "The lobster BLTs were really good. Unique and delicious."

  • "The atmosphere and food were great. The service was also pretty good considering how busy they were. The food prep was pretty slow - don't blame the service staff, the kitchen needs more help- we weren't the only ones who waited a good while for our food. I would recommend if you are not in a hurry - food and atmosphere worth it."

  • "The food and cocktails were outstanding, love the ambiance and the details to everything. Great new option for a down town patio. Service is fantastic which is where Crave tends to have an issue on their patio. Next time I'll need to leave room for dessert."

  • "Clean and friendly and delicious. And reasonably priced! check this place out"

  • "Great ambience, great drinks. But our food order took over an hour to come out, and 1 of our orders was wrong. Person delivering food just said 'not my fault'...but that's it. I would try it one more time, but please get your service levels better. We were 20 minutes late to our concert that evening due completely to food coming out so slow."

  • "Was so fun to be able to eat outside in early April! Staff was a bit disorganized. Food was very good and the setting was awesome!"

  • "This is a great spot. A wonderful atmosphere for a Sunday morning brunch with great food. However, the morning we were there, the music which was provided by a DJ was extremely LOUD, so loud that it was difficult to talk, and for us, it ruined the wonderful ambiance of the sunny, scenic rooftop. It was a loud, party atmosphere if that's what you're looking for, but not pleasant at all for a relaxing Sunday morning brunch. When walking back to the car several hours later, the music was still blaring, so loud that it was annoying at street level."

  • "If I wanted to go to a downtown nightclub, I would have done that on a Friday or Saturday night. You should definitely advertise that your Sunday brunch is not good for food, ambiance, special occasions where people may actually want to talk to one another, or not good for anything other than to get your ears blasted and your mind wasted on alcohol. Your clientele are snobs of the worst class."

  • "This was my first time at Union and while the rooftop was lovely, the service was terrible. We were seated promptly, but a server did not come by for a drink order for about 15 minutes, after I flagged her down. Our food took about 45 minutes to get. Someone in my party ordered a burger without cheese, it came with cheese. Another person asked for their leftovers to be boxed up, and the waitress handed the plate off to a bus boy, where he promptly threw a pile of dirty plates on the food and the waitress didn't even notice.I ordered a coffee after my meal that was never brought to me."

  • "You have an user friendly website. We were able to view the menu and price range. It was very easy to make a reservation. I also had to change the res from 2 to 4 with no trouble. The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Our table made 3 different choices (duck, salmon, and 2 scallops). We were all happy with our choice. I had the scallops and I have never tasted such a fantastic risotto - very creative."

  • "Service was lousy. It took an hour to order our food. Fish had good flavor, but was overcooked. Not worth it at the price point. Too noisy to have a conversation, but I. Cool atmosphere and I bet with the roof fully retracted it would be fun to get some apps and drinks there."

  • "The food was good-the service awful she never came back and offered additional cocktails, coffee or dessert. Someone should tell her that a higher check means bigger tip. It was brunch and they had a happy hour" DJ playing loud music and dancing with his head phones on. The rate this as classy. People could not even talk to each other. Please share this with the restaurant."

  • "Loved all the windows and the atmosphere in general. Interesting menu - there's lots more on it that I would like to try, especially the seafood items. Great , friendly service."

  • "Once again, Union rooftop didn't disappoint. Great dinner, atmosphere and scenery of the skyline. Can't wait for summer (if it ever gets here)."

  • "The most notable thing about Union Rooftop is of course the location. The covered glass patio is excellent for cold-weather "outdoor" dining, but bring sunglasses if you go around sunset. The food is well prepared though not always in large enough portions. My king crab salad was listed as a main course but would have been more fittingly called an appetizer. (Husband's salmon was a larger portion.) They were out of my husband's first beer choice (they comped his subsequent drink choice) and his first meal choice. Dessert was awesome and generously portioned for two to share. A nice dinner out, but it won't be a regular on our dinner list—however, I'd certainly stop in for happy hour appetizers and a drink or two, just to enjoy the setting."

  • "This was our first visit to Union Rooftop. The ceasar salad was outstanding, do not ever change it. My only complaint was the music was way too loud, especially for such a early time of evening, (5PM) it would be nice if the level could be adjusted to fit the time of day and how many diners are in the restaurant. It was loud enough we had to lean in to hear each other and had to ask questions or responses over again as we could not hear each other sitting at a two seated table. Thanks, Happy"

  • "This is the second time we tried Sunday brunch here its all good but would be better if the DJ would turn down the volume a little bit, when the top is closed."

  • "Our first time here to celebrate our son's birthday. The views on the rooftop dining were great and the food and service were excellent. My only complaint was the price. Almost $30 for a seafood rissoto is quite high for the amount of food served. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious and I reccommend it, but just be prepared for the bill."

  • "A full dining room with a banquet type party winding breaking up shortly after being seated. It was quite loud - room doesn't absorb sound well. Food was good though a bit overpriced we felt. Appetizer menu falls short. Will try the rooftop in the summer to experience the open roof."

  • "Love the concept - the design and such. The food downstairs is much, much better than the Rooftop. It is average - and when the place is packed and it only takes 10 minutes to get your dinner...there is a quality in the food that is missing. Don't expect MN over the top dinner....more like low price patio food you might find on Lake Minnetonka bar scene. Servers and service however was excellent...very nice people working there."

  • "The flatbread pizzas were barely warm and the chicken confit was very average. To top it all off, we wanted martinis and they were out of martini glasses. Really? That's like McDonalds being out of fries. We will not go back. This is the second time that the food has been just average."

  • "This place has a great view of the sky! It has pleasant atmosphere with an interesting and fun menu. While it wasn't the absolutely best meal I have ever had, it's miles aboveany chain and most other fashionable restaurant. They have a giant wall of Windows that curves up and over half of the dining room, in the upstairs restaurant. It was perfect for my wife and I to have a great meal and look out over the city."

  • "Last Sunday my husband and I took both our parents to enjoy the Sunday brunch and while the setting and food was fantastic, there was a DJ playing music consistent with a high school dance both content and volume. We questioned the waiter and he said the music would only be getting louder as the morning went on. None of us were sure the point as it seemed entirely unnecessary and out of place. We had a difficult time carrying simple conversation. Save it for sometime other than Sunday morning Union!! Otherwise you have a great thing going."

  • "They have a DJ pumping out the beat at their brunch, and at 10 in the morning ,something I did not need with my breakfast. The food was good, service was good prices were good. Great view from the rooftop.Could have been more excited about the place with out the dJ."
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "If you hope to maintain a broader demographic crowd, you have to turn down the loud music. The DJONES kept getting louder and louder to the point we we shouting across the table. We asked to have it turned down but were told "no because it's a party brunch" seriously???? It was obnoxious. Service was slow, had to ask twice for coffee refill."

  • "We were there for Sunday Brunch. I had no idea there would be deejays playing the loudest music ever! 2 huge speakers in the small rooftop space playing club music. Ridiculous! Totally ruined our dining experience. People go to brunch to relax and chat. We had to yell to hear each other & our server. Never again!"

  • "Food is excellent but expensive. Service is attentive and friendly. Sunday Brunch. DJ up front by the elevator. Glad our table was in the back away from him. Don't know how people close to the DJ could talk with their friends. Congestion at the hostess desk. No place to wait. Early for my reservation. No place to wait. I'd people here for a special occassion because the food is excellent. But because the restaurant is always going to be challenged by the small space (making it hard to get into) and because it's expensive, I won't be a regular."

  • "Would be my go-to brunch venue, if not for speaker volume cranked too high. For a potential frequent visitor, ringing ears and friends declining a repeat experience are a deal-breaker. Kind-of baffling that management sabotages the Sunday vibe this way."

  • "This is our second outing. The first had a couple glitches; nothing of real issue. This was a perfect outing. Will certainly return."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Alright I'll admit I'm in the older crowd, but seriously I bet if you took a table by table survey 90% of the people would say that the music was way too loud. I saw many people that were not enjoying themselves. We even asked the 20 something couple next to us if they thought the music was too loud. I could not really hear what they said, but judging from the painful expressions on their faces I think they were in agreement. We will not come back and will enthusiastically discuss our experience with all of our friends, relatives, business associates and may even set up a soap box outside the restaurant to warn people."
