Diner Reviews
  • "A go-to place. Fresh salads, appetizers, and seafood. Bring good wine - it's worth it."

  • "Excellent location, service and atmosphere. Above all and more importantly the food is amazing, especially the crab cakes. Best restaurant in Cape May hands down!!!"
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Overall, we liked Union Park. We knew that it was going to be overpriced, paying for the location etc. But, we did not expect a 45 dollar appetizer that listed oysters, mussels, lobster, crab to only have 3 small (smaller than a crayon) slivers of a crab leg and a lobster that could have been mistaken for a crawfish!! The steak was ok (cooked nicely, good size, but had marbled fat in a sirloin). Overall, the location and the excellent service (Gentleman named Miles from Bulgaria) was what made us enjoy our experience."

  • "As usual the food and service here were nothing short of wonderful. We recently discovered our daughter is allergic to gluten, corn, dairy, and beef. A pretty tall order to get great tasting food when dining out. She's also 22 so she's been eating without those restrictions for a long time and knows what she's missing. The staff at union park produced a delicious meal for her after choosing from several options. We all had a wonderful meal and couldn't have been more pleased!"

  • "My husband and I dined at Union Park two years ago and enjoyed it. That meal was delicious, but this meal was absolutely fabulous! As self-proclaimed foodies, we agree that this is one of the best start to finish meals we have ever eaten. His Cape May salts were delicate and tasty. We shared the burrata bruschetta, then moved onto the entrees. We declared it a tie: his braised short ribs with bacon marmalade (yup, you read that right), and my lobster tail over mascarpone risotto with pancetta. We would have skipped dessert, but it was my birthday, so...profiteroles with espresso chocolate chip ice cream. The food and service (thank you, Miles) were top notch. Next year: no discussion about where to go for my birthday, Union Park!"

  • "Union Park is simply gorgeous in every way. Elegance without the stuffiness. Attentive service yet unobtrusive. The food is always delicious and plentiful. I ordered a NY Strip steak that was on the specials menu and it was as good as any place that bills itself as a steakhouse. We saw couples, families , and one small group gathering for a special occasion. Union Park works for everyone and I recommend it with complete confidence."

  • "$250 for 3 adults, one young child... this BYOB place is NYC priced without quality, portion size, creativity and lacks food flavor. We seriously don't understand how an in-season beach restaurant offers Farm raised salmon and at a cost of almost $30. From appetizers through to dessert all of our meals were utterly disappointing. Take your money and dine elsewhere."

  • "Went with a picky group everyone loved it, two chefs in attendance."
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "it was always a destination place for food. It was always a BYOB place which is fine with me. They now offers wines and splits. What they don't tell you is they are all local wines. The split we had was like the mother of vinegar and although they called in meritage it was not drinkable. Companions dinner was ok.Mine however, was not edible the scallops were spoiled! They were completely overcooked and smelled like ammonia. The waitress took it back immediately and asked if I wanted this again. I was surprised she as that but then she quickly asked if I wanted something else. i had lamb it came out faster than I thought. Which sounds great but it was tough, and the demi glace was fortified with the same bad wine."

  • "My husband, my in-laws and myself have spent a significant amount of time in Cape May over the past ten years. However, we dined together for the first time at Union Park this past Saturday. And we were delighted! The food was delicious--classic seaside ingredients prepared in an inventive, well-balanced fashion; the service was appropriately attentive; and the ambience was upscale without being stuffy. We will definitely add Union Park to our rotation of favorite places to dine."

  • "Booked bc of kid friendly advertising. Ok if you have older children, but felt my two and four year old were a bit disruptive in the environment. Restaurant very nice, however not that great for young children."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Food was cooked to spec. The tuna tartare was the best I've had in a while with flavors being perfectly balanced. Food came out very quickly and if the appetizers weren't rare I would have questioned the speed (but instead, was impressed). Two service errors include: wrong appetizer came out, wrong bottle of wine was brought out"

  • "Out waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful and the good was fantastic. We will be back again soon!"

  • "With a group of 11 that included 2 children 6 & 8, we chose to go early enough to partake of the fixed priced menu. It was fantastic food all around and everyone was able to find something they enjoyed. The food was beautifully presented, perfectly prepared and just the right portion sizes. It was a celebration dinner for 50 years of marriage and a great beginning for the next 50!"

  • "We always have a great experience whenever we dine here, and this time was no exception. The food is always cooked perfectly and offers some wonderful flavor combinations. The atmosphere is elegant and the service is friendly to a t. One of my favorite Cape May eateries and one we will continue to visit in the future."

  • "We went to Union Park for our anniversary. The service was great. We ate outside wtih an ocean view. The food was good but be prepared that the portions are small. It is a BYOB. Would go again."
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "We went to Union Park for my Birthday party with a group of 6 people including two children 6 and 9 years old. Our reservation was at 6:30 on a Saturday. The place was not crowded. More people arrived around 8pm. Food is excellent, service is great, atmosphere is relaxing. Children menses were available. The only downside (or upside?) is that you have to bring your own wine. Will definitely come back and will recommend it to anybody."

  • "My husband and I dined here on June 21. We had the prix fixe menu and the food was delicious! i would have done 5 stars for food and service, but my husband felt that some of the food was "pre-made" in the sense that it didn't feel to him that each individual portion of the menu was made as we ordered it, but a bit too pre-prepared."

  • "Love the place. They remember your name when you come back. The manager Bob are so nice. Don't forget the Food. They are So Good."

  • "We weren't overwhelmed by the food here, but found nothing wrong with it that would stop us from returning nor suggesting that you try it. The dining room is very stately and classy, it is a nice place to enjoy a meal. It is also a BYOB so you can save a good bundle of money by enjoying your own wine. It is worth a try and we plan to try it again."

  • "Union Park, as always, amazes with the quality of its food. Everything is done to your request, and virtually flawless in both preparation and presentation. The service is efficient and friendly without being obtrusive. I consider Union Park to be one of the two or three best restaurants in Cape May, and this most recent visit has only further entrenched it as in the running for the title of "Best"."

  • "Classy without any pretense. Fresh salads and seafood on the outside deck with a perfectly chilled Sauvignon Blanc (BYOB) is a great way to spend an evening."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "We tried Union Park Dining Room during Cape May restaurant week and ordered from the $35 price fixed menu. The tomato bisque soup with lump crabmeat was out of this world, as were the Atlantic salmon with goat cheese potato au gratin and the Bourbon Demi-glacé short ribs. They literally melted in your mouth! The service was excellent and the view of the ocean from the veranda made it the perfect evening! We will definitely be back!"

  • "Come often for restaurant week. Like to try a different restaurant each night. Union Park does not disappoint. Food and service consistently good. So good we went twice this week!"

  • "This is my favorite restaurant in Cape May. Everything is cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. Eating on the patio is nice, but eating inside is great too. I like the quiet atmosphere."

  • "The Union Park never disappoints. We came here for our 10th wedding anniversary. "

  • "Outstanding first time at Union Park - the food, service and view were all exceptional. While a little expensive, the crab cake, strip steak, burrata and short rib apps/entrees were all well-prepared, tasty and well worth the price of admission. Would wholeheartedly recommend to others as a great fine dining experience in Cape May. We'll be back!"

  • "This restaurant seemed old & tired. It looked dirty inside. The food was ok. Our server was very nice. We had a gift certificate so we were not terribly disappointed but will not come back. "
    Dined on 5/23/2014
  • "Union Park has a wonderful location, a slightly upscale feel for a beachfront location, and a wonderful diverse menu with good selections for veggies, fish and shellfish, beef, fowl etc. Execution is good. Service was friendly but missing something - couldn't quite figure it out. All in a very solid, almost spectacular experience."

  • "Outstanding food in beautiful room. Shirt ribs to die for served by extremely attentive staff."

  • "We had a lovely dinner this past Saturday evening. It was my husband's birthday and I wanted to take him somewhere special to celebrate. Union Park was very enjoyable - we both enjoyed our meals and we would recommend it. Our waitress, Jennifer, was delightful which made for a very relaxing dinner!"

  • "Food was very good. However, for a supposedly upscale type restaurant it left me a little put off. When they brought bread for the table they brought 2 little rolls (cheesey for a better restaurant) When they brought the salsd no one asked if we wanted black pepper with the salad ,again not what I would expect at this type of restaurant. after the meal waited almost 1/2 hour before we got the check taken care of and that was after they brought us the check and we were waiting for them to take my card. we actually had to stop the waitress as she was running past our table. Was not real busy either, so not sure why "

  • "My husband and I were celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary, info I included in our reservation. They were having a reception in the place so they sat us out on the enclosed porch where we were less than a foot away from the tables on either side.We had no privacy and no romance. Also, the people in the reception kept bringing kids who were having MAJOR melt downs out to the front of the restaurant where we were sitting. We listened to screaming children the whole time we were there, the only benefit of which was it drowned out the stranger's conversations near us. I gave the place two stars because the food was very good. But for $150, I don't want to be sitting in my neighbors lap, and I don't want to listen to screaming kids. "

  • "The night we went there was a large rehearsal dinner party. The waitstaff was divided between the 2 rooms but the emphasis was clearly on the large party. We had to remind our server about the drinks and soup. The food itself was good with one exception. I ordered short ribs. The first bite at the end was cold. I was considering sending it back but while I was waiting for the server to return, I took another bite from the middle and that was warm. My husband enjoyed his steak and we both enjoyed dessert - sorbet for me and key lime pie for him. The room we were in was small and the noise level was moderate. The atmosphere is formal. Most of the people (other than the party) were in business casual although there were a few in jeans."
