Diner Reviews
  • "We stayed at the Hotel Macomber directly upstairs from the restaurant, so if you're staying there, eating here is a must. There is a wrap-around veranda overlooking Beach Ave and the ocean -- amazing views! Service was quick yet attentive. Food was beyond our expectations -- we had the tuna tartare and crabcake to start. The crabcake was easily the best I've ever had -- the jalapeno aoli was excellent and added a slight kick. Our mains were the scallops and the halibut (one of the specials that night). The chef came out to present our food -- what a nice touch! It is BYOB, but there is a small selection of wines from a local Cape May winery to choose from."

  • "The food is great Everyone enjoy his meal I would like to know at the time of the reservation that the restaurant does not sell alcool We can bring our bottle but it is too late when we are sitting at the table However, we can buy local wine We bought the Cabernet-Sauvignon and it was correct"

  • "We have been coming to Cape May for a long time and Union Park is consistently one of the best restaurants we go to. Food is always excellent and the atmosphere is elegant without being stuffy or snobby."

  • "The restaurant is amazing, the food, the service and the ambiance. It is a "special occasion" type of restaurant. Whether the "special occasion" is a get together with friends and/or family, a quiet night out for two or a celebration, it fits it all. You won't be disappointed with this choice."

  • "We had a wonderful time at Union Park. The service was great, the waiter catered well to our 3 year old. Food was fantastic, maybe a little overpriced vs. portions, but I find most places are in Cape May. We will definitely return."

  • "My wife and I dined there the evening of July 16. Service was vert attentive. Good knowledge of menu items by staff. Food very good and presented well. I had crab cakes for entree, which were the best I have had in quite sometime. My wife had the scallops which were also well presented and tasty. Thanks for a great dining experience in Cape May."

  • "We enjoyed Union Park last year and returned again this year. The meals were consistently good. Staff was attentive to diners' needs at all times. All of this comes with a pricey tab, however."

  • "We enjoyed our early bird dinner. We both ordered the salmon which was delicious. Started with the crab bisque soup & ended with a fruit tart & a chocolate puff type dessert. Both were very good. It's bring your own bottle which worked out well. I would return here again for dinner"

  • "We've been coming to Cape May for 15 years. We always make it a point to do at least one dinner at Union Park. I would consider it one of Cape May's higher end restaurants. The food and service is consistently excellent. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great dining experience. My wife had the short ribs and I had the lobster tails. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals."

  • "Every year for the past 25 we have been coming to Cape May. We have our usual restaurants and Union Park got onto our list perhaps 8 or 10 years ago. To us the food is most important and Union Park did not fail to deliver on that score. Both of our appetizers and main courses were very good. Union Park stays on our list."

  • "Everything from the appetizers through dessert was great. The rack of lamb was the best I've had in years and the scallop entree also was enjoyed by everyone in our party. I would not hesitate recommending Union Park to anyone that is looking for an upscale dining experience while visiting Cape May."

  • "We enjoyed a delicious dinner! I would go back any time."

  • "Our group varying from 8-12 people has dined at Union Park each year for the last 4 or 5 years during our annual Cape May vacation. If possible it only gets better each year. Food - not a big menu - and not inexpensive - but it is all delicious, perfectly prepared, beautifully presented - always a real treat. Cost are kept down by the BYO policy. Service is friendly and on the ball. The dining room is beautiful - like sitting in a beautiful dining room in someone's home; very comfortable and elegant - but not at all stuffy. For smaller parties there are tables on the porch of of the Hotel Macomber, where the restaurant is located. Some with views of the beach."

  • "A go-to place. Fresh salads, appetizers, and seafood. Bring good wine - it's worth it."

  • "Overall, we liked Union Park. We knew that it was going to be overpriced, paying for the location etc. But, we did not expect a 45 dollar appetizer that listed oysters, mussels, lobster, crab to only have 3 small (smaller than a crayon) slivers of a crab leg and a lobster that could have been mistaken for a crawfish!! The steak was ok (cooked nicely, good size, but had marbled fat in a sirloin). Overall, the location and the excellent service (Gentleman named Miles from Bulgaria) was what made us enjoy our experience."

  • "Excellent location, service and atmosphere. Above all and more importantly the food is amazing, especially the crab cakes. Best restaurant in Cape May hands down!!!"

  • "As usual the food and service here were nothing short of wonderful. We recently discovered our daughter is allergic to gluten, corn, dairy, and beef. A pretty tall order to get great tasting food when dining out. She's also 22 so she's been eating without those restrictions for a long time and knows what she's missing. The staff at union park produced a delicious meal for her after choosing from several options. We all had a wonderful meal and couldn't have been more pleased!"

  • "$250 for 3 adults, one young child... this BYOB place is NYC priced without quality, portion size, creativity and lacks food flavor. We seriously don't understand how an in-season beach restaurant offers Farm raised salmon and at a cost of almost $30. From appetizers through to dessert all of our meals were utterly disappointing. Take your money and dine elsewhere."

  • "Union Park is simply gorgeous in every way. Elegance without the stuffiness. Attentive service yet unobtrusive. The food is always delicious and plentiful. I ordered a NY Strip steak that was on the specials menu and it was as good as any place that bills itself as a steakhouse. We saw couples, families , and one small group gathering for a special occasion. Union Park works for everyone and I recommend it with complete confidence."

  • "My husband and I dined at Union Park two years ago and enjoyed it. That meal was delicious, but this meal was absolutely fabulous! As self-proclaimed foodies, we agree that this is one of the best start to finish meals we have ever eaten. His Cape May salts were delicate and tasty. We shared the burrata bruschetta, then moved onto the entrees. We declared it a tie: his braised short ribs with bacon marmalade (yup, you read that right), and my lobster tail over mascarpone risotto with pancetta. We would have skipped dessert, but it was my birthday, so...profiteroles with espresso chocolate chip ice cream. The food and service (thank you, Miles) were top notch. Next year: no discussion about where to go for my birthday, Union Park!"

  • "it was always a destination place for food. It was always a BYOB place which is fine with me. They now offers wines and splits. What they don't tell you is they are all local wines. The split we had was like the mother of vinegar and although they called in meritage it was not drinkable. Companions dinner was ok.Mine however, was not edible the scallops were spoiled! They were completely overcooked and smelled like ammonia. The waitress took it back immediately and asked if I wanted this again. I was surprised she as that but then she quickly asked if I wanted something else. i had lamb it came out faster than I thought. Which sounds great but it was tough, and the demi glace was fortified with the same bad wine."

  • "Food was cooked to spec. The tuna tartare was the best I've had in a while with flavors being perfectly balanced. Food came out very quickly and if the appetizers weren't rare I would have questioned the speed (but instead, was impressed). Two service errors include: wrong appetizer came out, wrong bottle of wine was brought out"

  • "My husband, my in-laws and myself have spent a significant amount of time in Cape May over the past ten years. However, we dined together for the first time at Union Park this past Saturday. And we were delighted! The food was delicious--classic seaside ingredients prepared in an inventive, well-balanced fashion; the service was appropriately attentive; and the ambience was upscale without being stuffy. We will definitely add Union Park to our rotation of favorite places to dine."

  • "Booked bc of kid friendly advertising. Ok if you have older children, but felt my two and four year old were a bit disruptive in the environment. Restaurant very nice, however not that great for young children."

  • "With a group of 11 that included 2 children 6 & 8, we chose to go early enough to partake of the fixed priced menu. It was fantastic food all around and everyone was able to find something they enjoyed. The food was beautifully presented, perfectly prepared and just the right portion sizes. It was a celebration dinner for 50 years of marriage and a great beginning for the next 50!"

  • "We went to Union Park for our anniversary. The service was great. We ate outside wtih an ocean view. The food was good but be prepared that the portions are small. It is a BYOB. Would go again."

  • "We always have a great experience whenever we dine here, and this time was no exception. The food is always cooked perfectly and offers some wonderful flavor combinations. The atmosphere is elegant and the service is friendly to a t. One of my favorite Cape May eateries and one we will continue to visit in the future."

  • "We went to Union Park for my Birthday party with a group of 6 people including two children 6 and 9 years old. Our reservation was at 6:30 on a Saturday. The place was not crowded. More people arrived around 8pm. Food is excellent, service is great, atmosphere is relaxing. Children menses were available. The only downside (or upside?) is that you have to bring your own wine. Will definitely come back and will recommend it to anybody."

  • "My husband and I dined here on June 21. We had the prix fixe menu and the food was delicious! i would have done 5 stars for food and service, but my husband felt that some of the food was "pre-made" in the sense that it didn't feel to him that each individual portion of the menu was made as we ordered it, but a bit too pre-prepared."

  • "everything we ordered was great but the short ribs were amazing! definitely recommend"

  • "Union Park, as always, amazes with the quality of its food. Everything is done to your request, and virtually flawless in both preparation and presentation. The service is efficient and friendly without being obtrusive. I consider Union Park to be one of the two or three best restaurants in Cape May, and this most recent visit has only further entrenched it as in the running for the title of "Best"."

  • "We tried Union Park Dining Room during Cape May restaurant week and ordered from the $35 price fixed menu. The tomato bisque soup with lump crabmeat was out of this world, as were the Atlantic salmon with goat cheese potato au gratin and the Bourbon Demi-glacé short ribs. They literally melted in your mouth! The service was excellent and the view of the ocean from the veranda made it the perfect evening! We will definitely be back!"

  • "Classy without any pretense. Fresh salads and seafood on the outside deck with a perfectly chilled Sauvignon Blanc (BYOB) is a great way to spend an evening."

  • "This is my favorite restaurant in Cape May. Everything is cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. Eating on the patio is nice, but eating inside is great too. I like the quiet atmosphere."
