Diner Reviews
  • "We were a table of 4. Marty recommended a delicious red wine, then was generous with pours. It was quite good. We sampled the fresh tomatoes, and deviled eggs/bacon dish along with the meatball appetizer. All items flavorful and memorable. We ordered the scallops, the Cuban pork and the night's special, the filet. Food was served hot, with enough time between the first course to relax and enjoy conversation. The filet was butter knife friendly tender, lightly seasoned. Delicious. The others raved about their meals as well. We were quite satisfied to skip dessert, but Marty our host brought us each a tiny macaroon that was perfect. Alexis the owner and chef came to our table to check on everything and was terrific. We will definitely return."

  • "Enjoy a wonderful Saturday lunch, first to arrive, seated promptly and awaited rest of our party of 5 to arrive. Enjoyed wonderful meals, 2 folks had salmon burgers and I tried the mini sliders..loved the chilled water bottles we had at our table, delightful on this hot summer day. All food was excellent..although the restaurant got very busy after our arrival and service slowed a tad due to almost full tables. Waitress was efficient when you got her attn and she remembered my to go order for the Hubby! Have been here for dinner, first time for lunch...Great lunch!!"

  • "Have eaten at this restaurant on several occasions.Very consistent creative menu that is fairly priced for what you get"

  • "Unfortunately, the food we had would not encourage a return visit. Chopped salad was really too large for a starter and overpriced at $12, mussels were shriveled but served in a nice broth, crab cakes were nearly burned, fried chicken was too heavily breaded and the mashed potatoes that accompanied it were pasty, grits & corn side dish was bland, heavy and sitting in a pool of oil. Bacon or stilton on nearly every dish, both of which I love, but sometimes too much of a good thing is not a good thing. Grilled peach appetizer was tasty as was the berry tart we had for dessert. The restaurant was too noisy for easy conversation even before it filled up. Our server did a good job and was attentive."

  • " Our table had a reserved sign on it. Nice touch! We ordered bacon and eggs which was the Chef's take on deviled eggs. 6 eggs and 3 pieces of candied bacon. Crab cakes with apple slaw & tomatoes and a sweet garlic clove. We got some vodka poached gummy bears from the chef... delicious. Mofongo burger & my wife had the big salmon salad both very good! Large portions. Chef was out on the floor from time to time, to say by to other customers...very good sign! Means they knows their regulars. You forget you are in an old garage. Elegant without the snootiness of buckhead. The night was great & we stayed for over 2 hours and they did not rush us out! Thank you! Amazing food, delicious environment! Will be back again and again."

  • "This fairly new restaurant is located in my hometown of Chamblee, GA. The food and service were excellent and the ambience was enjoyable as well. However, I would skip the fancy cocktails and stick to beer or wine. Cocktails including a vodka martini were a bit overpriced, skimpy, and not made well."

  • "We decided to try Union Hill Kitchen for my birthday dinner. The entire experience was wonderful!! We shared a grilled peach appetizer.(Yummy!) My husband had their award-winning burger for his entree.(Definitely lived up to the award!) I had the pork with rice, black beans, and plantains. (OMG!!) So delicious! The portions were very gracious and the prices very reasonable. The service was exceptional. Attentive without hovering!! They even treated me to their salted caramel pretzel brownie for my birthday. We will be back soon!!"

  • "This is our joint to go for dinner on a weekly basis. The staff knows us by name and apparently have memorized our cocktail orders. The chef had made grilled corn drizzled with vanilla butter and drizzled again with cornbread crumbs and chives. A great dish for summer and the dates are really really good. Seemingly Simple food with complex and haunting flavors. We can't wait to watch the chef compete on a show called Cutthroat Kitchen on Food Network next month. When you go to eat --- Fridays and Saturdays are fully reserved so make a reservation on open table. If you show up late over 10 minutes- they will release your table so plan accordingly if you are going to be late or call them."

  • "We once again, were completely blown away by this amazing restaurant! The food, wine, atmosphere and friendly staff never disappoint. We will continue to go back again and again. Why go anywhere else? Grab your friends and go- it'll be your new favorite place too!"

  • "We were looking forward to first visit at Union Hill. We shared the Salad with Fried Chicken - nice size salad - Chicken a bit over-fried but tasty. Also shared the Crab Cake small plate and the Calamari small plate. Crab cakes were very good - more crab than filler which is what we like! The Calamari was over-fried and bland to the point that we did not eat it. The server asked if we wanted it "to go" since we had not eaten it but did not inquire about it when we declined to take it. Nice selection of bar choices at prices to be expected. The décor here is cute and it is nice to have something in the Chamblee area. I would try it again - but no longer excited. Probably will try brunch."

  • "Our experience at Union Hill Kitchen was superb in every way. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. They made great recommendations from the menu. The food was remarkable. I highly recommend the bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer. For an entree the sirloin burger (with house cut fries) was beyond delicious. A slice of key lime pie to top it all off made for the perfect meal. This was our second time eating at Union Hill. We ordered different menu items both times and were not disappointed. Chamblee is lucky to have Union Hill Kitchen!"

  • "From the time we walked in the door (we had a group of 7) we were treated as though we were guests in their home. The food was amazing, the service impeccable and we can't wait to go back!"

  • "We were very excited about having a nice restaurant in the Chamblee area. The service was warm and friendly, but the food was not exceptional. The kitchen was real busy so it took a while for our food to come out. Perhaps on a day when the kitchen is less busy, the food will be a lot better. Even though we did not think the food was exceptional we are still hopeful and we do plan to return to try things out again."

  • "Becoming our weekly go out dinner spot. The food is really good. The staff is friendly. We had tomatoes from the restaurants private UHk garden - drizzled with brown butter and some other items the chef harvested from it. It was delicious and nice to see restaurants want your biz. Peaches with bacon & Pear quesadilla was equally welcomed. Our whole experience, was really good!"

  • "Have been here multiple times now and never leave disappointed. From the food to the always friendly staff I never leave dissappointed. It's a smaller space, but has a great intimate feel. The food is incredible (fried chicken, salmon burger, serloin burger, stuffed dates, and bacon wrapped peaches are some of our favorites). Last time we were in, the chef sent out tomatoes from the garden in the back and chatted for a few minutes. My husband and I love talking with him. He and the rest of the staff know us by name now and always make us feel at home. We bring new friends in and everyone has a great time! I would ABSOLUTELY reccomend to anyone!"

  • "I have heard about this restaurants fried chicken. I love fried chicken, and this fried chicken was moist, and crunchy crunchy. My husband had the mofongo burger with blue fries and he said it was the best burger he has ever had. He said it was better than Flip Burger boutique. White gazpacho was also delicious. The staff is very attentive and put up with our loudness throughout the dinner. Will come back."

  • " Here is a restaurant where the chef has a great menu offering lots of different things. Cuban smoked pork, mofongo burgers, pear quesadilla, bacon wrapped peaches, country risotto, peanut ribs are some of the things we all ordered at our table. And the churros totally reminded me of a trip we went to in Venezuela. All dishes were very good and service was fantastic and we didn't have to endure eating some offal meat. This place should be listed in Atlanta's top 10 restaurants places to eat."

  • "We have been here twice and enjoyed both visits. Very friendly and attentive staff! Had a great cuban style burger on one visit and the fried chicken on the other visit. Both were delicious! We also shared a plate of salmon sliders with our companions. Paired with martinis they were a great way to start the evening!"

  • "This is our go to place at the end of the week and are here at least once a week. Our friends we have taken there enjoy it a lot. The service is excellent, the food is wonderful and the chef at times came out and chatted with us for a bit. Very passionate about cooking and food. The service staff is great. My new fave cocktail is the sunset martini. Try the bacon wrapped peaches or the tomato, watermelon and poppy seed salad if the chef has it as a special - it is Very very good! While we visited the chef brought us some puffed garlic crackers with smoked pork and tarragon tomatoes - not on the menu or a special but we are glad we were one of the lucky ones to taste it."

  • " This is a real local restaurant owned & operated only by a chef - no biz partners, no investors. That means no politics when it comes to food. The menu has an array of New American & well executed classics. The setting is an old 1950's remodeled garage. This young chef takes seemingly simple food ie. skinless boneless fried chicken, tomato with basil, balsamic & puts out complex flavors that don't leave you. Mint for mojito's are harvested from thier garden at the moment. Mizette the bar tender makes them to order according to the maniacle's chefs direction. Try one. The servers are knowledgable though there's always new servers there. Great wine list from 31$ bottles to 150$. Prices are reasonable from $15 -$24 per entree."

  • "The chef behind Union Hill Kitchen is an Atlanta stand-out. The dishes he prepares are fun and inventive takes on traditional American and Caribbean classics. Everyone should try this restaurant. Every table was raving about their food, and I can't think of when I've eaten somewhere that the patrons were so excited and impressed by the food that they were sharing with other tables. I can't wait to go back. There's so much to try!"

  • "We were delighted with our dining experience at Union Hill Kitchen - a rising star in Chamblee. Quite a contrast to the hustle and bustle of Brookhaven but still a menu packed with great choices. We started with a couple of cocktails, including a Chamblee Shaker. For our entrees we had a HUGE salmon burger with tasty fries and scallops on risotto. We plan to become regulars and suggest you check it out too!"

  • "Went there expecting a small neighborhood restaurant, but we were blown away by the inventiveness of the menu and quality of execution. We made an evening of small plates in lieu of entrees, and were not disappointed. Apparently a large table (14 top) was seated directly before we were, which immediately overwhelmed the kitchen. Our initial order took probably 40m or so to come out, but things smoothed out after that (and we were not rushed). The Chorizo-stuffed figs were outstanding (maybe a little heavy on the bacon and tomato); they belong on the must-order list."

  • "The food is really fantastic. Half the menu is gluten free. While I don't have a gluten allergy, I really enjoyed the gluten free flat bread pizza. "

  • "Two of my friends and I decided to try Union Hill Kitchen for a birthday celebration. The staff is very friendly. The drinks were good and the food was delicious. They had a stuffed date appetizer that is out of this world good. We also tried the pear quesadilla and the bruschetta. Dinner was scallops, their burger and the smoked cuban pork. All really good. Highly recommend this place. Nice to see a restaurant in the area that is not a chain."

  • "I am so happy that Chamblee has a nice restaurant now! I loved the space and while the menu was limited it was good. I feel like they could work on the service just a little. It took way too long to get our drinks especially considering how few people were there. But I know it is a new restaurant and they are just trying to get the hang of things. I will be back and can't wait to try the BBQ ribs."
