The food and service were
incredible. The tables were a bit small."

If you want fish, this is a great
place to go. There are other things on the menu but we've never tried them. probably just as good as the fish"

Waitress was great but the food
was extremely disappointing. Fried clams were very good, but hummus dip was uninspiring. Our entrees came out 3 minutes after ordering- fresh from the microwave. $18 lame, small fish and chips; shrimp and angel hair pasta that was really romen noodles and crab cakes so bad my wife didn't eat half of them- for the price, not worth it"

The only thing worth going back
for is the clam chowder which was delicious. The much vaunted grilled cheese with lobster was a lumpy mess with globs of cheddar cheese and a couple of large chunks of lobster, along with some bizarre yellow tomato slices thrown in (not even sure they're mentioned on the menu). It actually made my mother nauseous, and she otherwise has a strong stomach. Our friend said her grilled shrimp wrap was good, but we're not sure that she wasn't just being polite. The housemade chips are decent, but not worth going back for on their own. Even the strawberry-based cocktail was a disappointment. It had a pinkish tinge but not even a hint of strawberry flavor. The atmosphere is industrial clam shack, not really my thing."

We celebrated a cousins 50th
wedding anniversary and I was very disappointed. I ordered swordfish which was dry and tough. I needed a knife to cut my swordfish. The others did not complain about their dinners. I should have brought this to the attention of the server but did not want to interfere with the occasion. After thinking about it I thought that I should bring it to your attention. We appreciated the complimentary toast that the server brought to us in celebration of the occasion."

Always great to be there! The food
and the wine is amazing. Big compliment to the very nice staff"
Dined on 6/16/2014
We enjoyed our last dinner so
much that we suggested our neighbors try it with us.. All our dinners were excellent and service terrific. Wish we did not have to be seated as close to bathrooms- not exactly pleasant all evening, but that was only thing less than ideal."

Went on a first date here the
other night and we both enjoyed some creative sounding/tasting specials off of the menu. Had oysters to start and the variety was great as well. Only complaint is the table we sat at was a little shaky and we both spilt a bit of our drinks as a result. "

the team is amazing. They take
care and help you getting exactly what you need. Gary is the best : ) "

Everything was delicious and
cooked perfectly! The restaurant is set up very well and has a great atmosphere!"

Although I'm a regular at the
Plymouth location, this was my first visit to Union Fish in Hingham. The seafood was wonderful, but I'm not a fan of fine dining at a bar-height table. Also, the "cappuccino" was ice cold and milky. Just terrible. But, as long as you stick to the fish, you won't be disappointed. "
Dined on 5/9/2014
food was good but service and
drinks were subpar. out of oysters that night. also we ordered a martini, sent it back twice because it tasted like water and found out it was water which they were using for training purposes. restaurant should have comp'ed drink. plus not thrilled martini didn't fill up entire glass. "

I love this restaurant! The staff
is very friendly, it's a great place to eat or to just hang out at the bar. "
Dined on 5/8/2014
My crabcake appetizer was missing
the tarter sauce mentioned on the menu, and the lettuce was limp and brown. I would have told the waitress, but she did not check back with us. Our sword fish was a small dried out piece of fish that was overpowered with garlic so much, that there was no fish flavor. The waitstaff was sweet, but not well trained or polished, and not attentive. It might sound picky, but the paper table cloth on top of the linens kept annoyingly catching on sleeves, and turning up.....we might not have noticed if our food and service was better, but it just seemed indicative of a lot of attention to detail that is needed to improve this place."

We arrived before our dining
friends and we seated immediately and was offered drinks while waiting , great start. After our friends arrived it started going downhill with our server almost immediately. She was a very nice girl but a little forgetful. We waited quite a bit for a second round of drinks to the point where the manager must have heard uhh s and came over to take care of us. Desert was offered , coffee was asked about and after we ordered espresso we were informed by the waitress that she broke the machine then proceeded to come back smiling with a cup of cappuccino. Not a bad experience, just a little frustrating. But, the food was great ,everyone was happy and helpful and I would definitely go back."

The staff is amazing: they take
great care and make sure you get what you really want. I also love the welcoming warm atmosphere. It's a great spot to hang out, eat and have good wine."

We had a nice time, the place is
cheerful and the food is great. A little pricey but it was a special occasion. The staff was very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend Union Fish and would like to go again. Maybe try to go to the Plymouth one next."
Dined on 4/13/2014
the salmon is a favorite of mine.
Gary who is part of your wait staff is most enjoyable. however this particular evening the service was much to slow even though there was training going on and the restaurant was only half full. we dined with another couple that complained. I will come back though. it would be terrific if your open table booking had a seating map and you could choose where your wanted to sit."
Dined on 4/17/2014
The food is definitely the best
part. Truffle fries and raw bar are the highlights of the menu and the signature cocktails are outstanding. The only negative thing I could say is that it was absolutely freezing in there. Everyone had their coats on. Since it was the awkward transition time between winter and spring, maybe they had already turned the heat down?"
Dined on 3/30/2014
Horrible experience had 6pm
reservations had to wait 15 minutes for them to clear our table Had to ask for napkins no salt an pepper on the table Sad part is they were not busy at all Had to ask for bread. Ordered a ceaser salad with spicey ceaser dressing not spicey at all Ordered Salmon with sweet potato hash Salmon was a little raw and cold in the center could not really tast the sweet potato hash it was drowning in olive oil and that is all you taste Will not return any time soon"
Dined on 3/29/2014
Nice wait staff. Good food,
especially and obviously the seafood."
Dined on 3/9/2014
had a good first time experience.
table service was a little slow clearing everything but had a energetic waitress. Swordfish was a little over cooked but other than that meal was good! Would eat there again! Loved the decor"
Dined on 3/8/2014
I had a great time here, the food
and wine were wonderful. The only issue I had is that our table was right next to the kitchen. The alcove that leads into the kitchen should have curtains or some barrier that separates the tables from the kitchen."
Dined on 3/1/2014
Nice atmosphere. Food and service
are very good. Have eaten here numerous times and will continue to go back."
Dined on 2/23/2014
For dinner, my wife had the
swordfish Nicoise style, which was a nice cut of fish. I had the sesame crusted tuna, which while very nice sushi style, there was not enough soy sauce, ginger or wasabi. I did have some horseradish and mignonette left over from the oysters, so that helped somewhat. For desset, I had the White Chocolate cherry bread pudding, which was awesome. My wife wanted the chocolate cake, but wanted them to hold the salted caramel and the candied bacon -- they came on the side, but then the remaining cake was ridiculously small. All in all, I would go here again, but I might wait until the outside seating is open, and they have more wait staff."

Went here recently for Valentine's
Day with a girl I've been seeing for two months. Now, finding a place that is classy without being overly pretentious can usually be a daunting task. Union Fish was basically perfect, couldn't be happier with my experience here. The food was delicious, the space is cozy and intimate, and everything is nice and new. Our server didn't go out of his way to chat us up or be really friendly, but he was polite and timely. And I wouldn't have really wanted a chatty server anyway - after all it was Valentine's Day date. They have an impressive selection of beers and drinks. And, again, the food was just really, really good. Moderate-high price range, but totally worth it for a night out or special occasion"

Wonderful menu and wine selection.
Very attentive wait staff. Great background music ( Motown ). Designer cocktails and desserts provided a perfect finish. All in all it made for a wonderful Valentine's dinner."

My wife waited for 10 minutes for
a host or hostess to show up. She was ignored. This was on a quite, winter Sunday afternoon. It is obvious that the management does not care for mature diners."

Three generation group and all had
a fabulous meal. A new favorite spot no matter who we are with."
Dined on 1/25/2014
We have eaten at this restaurant 3
times in the past 2 months, twice at the bar, once at a table. We have always found the food to be surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because the service can be a little iffy, and one gets the feeing that they haven't quite found their groove yet. This last time the restaurant was packed on a Saturday night, and it took forever for our food to come out (a party of 4). It was an hour from the time we were seated until any food arrived. It will be a while before we decide to go back."
Dined on 1/25/2014
Granted it was a very cold night
but the restaurant was cold too and smelled of fish. The bread was tasty but also cold. I ordered the faroe island salmon with sweet potato hash and apple gastric. It was perfectly cooked and the flavors were great but they served the fish on an ice cold plate. My food quickly lost its heat and every time my hand brushed the plate, I felt coldness. It was the same for my dining partner who ordered the swordfish nicoise. Great flavors, well cooked served on an ice cold plate. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert which was again tasted great, we served hot, but was delivered on an ice cold plate. This restaurant need to get back to some restaurant basics, hot plates for hot food."
Dined on 1/24/2014
Small seating capacity but we sat
at a high top along the windows which was comfortable. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. The menu is limited but good choices and great specials."
Dined on 1/18/2014
The only good thing I can say is
that the hostess was pleasant and accommodating. The food was bland, the drinks were very expensive, and overall it was a pricey meal we did not enjoy. I could not believe that they had no decaf coffee - on a Friday night! I've had restaurants say it would take a minute to brew a pot of decaf, but they actually told me they didn't have any. With 2 grocery markets within a 2 minute walk they couldn't send someone out for some decaf??? I won't ever go there again."
Dined on 1/10/2014
Food was good. Fresh seafood.
Service could definitely be better. We sat there for a while becore our server came by to take our drink order. She was chatting with coworkers. Once she got to us, she offered friendly service but nothing great."
Dined on 12/30/2013
I have been to this place twice -
once for lunch and once for dinner. In both occassions I had very good experience on the food and servcice but from reviews on Yelp it seems like some people have bad experience but not me. The place is not very big indoor so on a crowded night the noise level can be quite high but that also creates an energetic atmosphere."

How does a restaurant in Boston
run out of Lobster? I was coming in from out of town and really looking forward to a good seafood dinner. There were 4 items on the menu that looked very good. All of them, including the surf & turf, did have lobster as a portion of the meal. I was very displeased to find out that the restaurant was out of Lobster at 8pm. Instead I was forced to pick the swordfish which I didn't think it could be ruined to the point of not being able to eat it. I was wrong. It was so overcooked that when the waiter came to ask how the meal was, I told him that my fish was way overcooked (expecting the swordfish to be simply seared instead of well done). Expensive and terrible food."

We both thoroughly enjoyed this
restaurant. The waitress was exceptionally attentive without being overbearing. The food was wonderful! And we got to see Mark Wahlberg walk by our window while eating dinner since he was in Alma Nova promoting his new movie! This just added to the evening!"
Dined on 12/8/2013
We love the idea of this
restaurant and just wish it were better. This was our 4th visit and while we usually go on a Thursday night and sit in the bar, because it was Friday night, I made a reservation and we sat in the dining area. This is such a cute and charming space. But we started with a server who could barely be heard and clearly didn't know the details of the preparation of some of the dishes. We ordered drinks and an appetizer that we were going to split. The servers must work in teams, because another server brought us our appetizer. She wouldn't have known that we hadn't ordered our entrees yet and was gone before we could tell her. We didn't see our original server again until our drinks and the appetizer were finished."

I have tried this restaurant twice
with experiences. Falr to good. Fish is on the overlooked side and price a little high for what you receive. Service is fair, they may be short of waiters. The dining room is small and a little crowded."
Dined on 7/12/2013
I was so pleased with the menu. So
many healthy creative combinations. The service was perfect and the food was amazing."
