Unheardof has been serving quietly elegant and eclectic cuisine to Edmontonians for 30 years. Our menu, which changes regularly, is increasingly local, regional and seasonal - a balance between the familiar and the innovative. We do our best to accommodate most dietary needs - celiac, vegetarian, and heart healthy.
We are celebrating our 30th anniversary all year long, partnering with the Edmonton Food bank with our dollar a diner program and giving everyone who orders our regularly priced prix fixe menu a 30 in 30 certificate ($30 off a regularly priced entree within 30 days).
Order a la carte or prix fixe (tapas, any starter, sorbet, any entree, any dessert) at $70 per guest. Arrive by 6pm (and if your table is available for rebooking by 7:30 pm, that price becomes an amazing $55)

Plus there is no better spot to plan your special function - business or personal. We have two private dining rooms and decades of experience in helping make your occasions special!

I always loved this place, but not this time. First we ordered seafood bisque which was divine. My entree though was terrible. I had the bison tenderloin, the sage and onion topping was way too strongly flavored with sage. It came with so called barley risotto which was dry and bland. I mentioned to the server that I thought risotto was supposed to be creamy, he said, Well it's barley. I asked what makes it risotto as opposed to just cooked barley? He didn't know. This was an entree I paid $45.00 for! For that much money it better be perfect, and the serving staff should have some knowledge of the items on the menu. For the money we paid it was not worth it. The service was very slow as well. So for a $225 meal, I felt gouged. « Read less

Had a wonderful dinner this past Saturday evening. Would highly recommend going with the 3 course menu (can't recall what they call it exactly). As an added incentive, if you arrive at 5:30 pm (and are done by 7:30 pm) you save $15 per person on this option ($55/person). Both my husband and I are self-proclaimed foodies and really enjoyed all the options (the turtle tart is to.die.for.) Our servers were attentive, but gave us our own personal space, and the tapas/sorbet/bread served between courses was a nice surprise (ie. go here with an appetite). Will definitely be back, and will recommend to others.

Visiting this restaurant always makes we want to come back as soon as possible. The seafood bisque is to die for and the service is always exceptional. Their mango daquiri is my go to drink there, absolutely excellent. I always leave this restaurant knowing that I will be back and it's definitely our first thought when it comes to special occasions.

I would not recommend this restaurant for a couple of reasons. It isn't terribly romantic as tables too close to others so conversations are overheard even at quiet level. I personally did not enjoy my entree, tenderloin Bison, I found it chewy and without much flavor, my vegetables were hard and tough to fork. My potatoes were very mediocre. I was expecting something very special as we attended this restaurant about 10 years back in one of the banquet rooms for a wedding and the food was very good. Not the memorable occasion I was hoping for to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.

We had been meaning to try out this restaurant for a long time, and finally did. Four of us enjoyed the early dining experience immensely, as the restaurant was not crowded, the food was fantastic, and the service experienced and friendly. We will return, and have recommended it to family and friends.

My spouse and I ate at Unheardof on the recommendation of a business associate from Edmonton. We were not disappointed at all. We opted for tablet d'hote 5 course option and the food was simply amazing. The size of the dishes was perfect and the flavours were delectable. Our server Alicia was wonderful and knowledgable regarding the menu and was very helpful in making suggestions. The restaurant itself is wonderful with an old English flavour. I will be recommending Unheardof to anyone I know travelling to the Edmonton area.

We took my Mom out for a meal here while she was visiting, and we had been really looking forward to trying Unheardof after many good reviews. Was not super impressed. The delay between appetizer and entree was quite long. I ordered the rack of lamb, and it was overdone, and bland. Potatoes on my Mom's plate were so salty they were almost inedible. She ordered the bison, and the menu stated it would come mid-rare - it came pretty close to blue. For the price I won't be trying this restaurant again. Pretty disappointed. The only saving grace in my opinion was the french onion soup.

My wife and I had dinner here recently. My wife's app. of prawns & ravioli was excellent, but her duck was just good because the skin was not crispy. My app. of portabella mushroom was very good and also my bison steak. Overall the food was very good but nothing exceptional, especially when you consider the price.

This was not our first time dining at Unheardof Restaurant and it won't be our last. The food, as usual, was very good. What was missing for me was a waiter who had a vast knowledge of wine pairings. Five or six years ago his was a familiar face but the past 2 times we have dined he was no where to be seen. That is a shame. His extensive knowledge of wine made Unheardof a rare find. It is still a treat though with an unhurried ambience and well worth the money.

Took a date for a romantic dinner before a play. We were a little bit time constrained and let the waiter know up front and they were very accommodating. The service was stellar and the amount of interaction was perfect, just enough to ensure we had everything for a wonderful dining experience, but not so much that you feel smothered. We had the table d'hote service, so we got to try appetizers, mains and dessert. Everything was excellent, beyond expectations really. Like the title says, I would definitely repeat at this restaurant.

We finally decided to try the Unheardof at their recent 33 yr anniversary and took advantage of the over 55 special. Having driven by this restaurant for decades, I was pleasantly surprised by the quaint ambience upon entering. Food was fantastic and presentation equally so. Very civilized dining with the nice touch of sorbet to cleanse the palate between courses. Mmm. We hope to return soon. However the price point of the entrees may delay our visit for a little while. But definitely a nice evening out to mark a special occasion.

This was our first visit to Unheard Of. We found the dining experience to be very average. The portebello mushroom apetizer was tasty, as was the small bowl of mushroom soup. We found the main dish to be very average though. The tenderloin was not overly tender. The salmon was ok, but nothing special. Overall the food did not match the price tag. The ambience was ok but you could tell not much updating had been done in the last 30 years. Lots of people in the restaurant although the average age was about 70. Maybe they are catering to more of a senior crowd who are nostalgic for the old days.

My husband and I were on our date night when we came to un-heard of. The first thing I noticed was how dirty the walkway to the door was with cigarette butts and garbage. Seeing the garbage had alarmed me but as soon as I walked in the door I was pleasantly surprised. The interior was clean and decorated in lovely antiques. The first thing my husband and I did when we were seated as close the blinds so the dirty exterior didn't take from the beautiful interior. The service as good, the food was delicious and dessert was yummy. The only down side was we ordered a bottle of Moscato wine and it was the last bottle with no other moscato available. Overall we had a wonderful evening and the food did not disappoint.

I felt the price was very high it was close to $200 when we all said and done and really the food wasn't that flavorful or impressive for that price in my opinion. I felt it lacked almost bland to me.....I say if price was a bit more reasonable it be a nice place for sure but really I felt for $$$$ we expected more. Desserts seemed dry to, not really fresh....

This is a place that I have wanted to try out for many years and finally did our first visit...Wow...I took my husband there for his birthday. The seafood bisque was truly the best he had ever had. he said he would go back and just have the bisque by itself, maybe even two bowls of it....and he has never said anything like that before :) The service was incredible. what a great team, knowledgeable, friendly and professional and appeared to work very well together. All the food was great. Definitely on my favourites list.
