A word from Undici
Undici is the recreation of a Tuscan farmhouse. The stone, woods, plaster and tile are all reminiscent of an era passed. The cuisine consists of the freshest quality ingredients available at market. This allows us to change our menus daily to provide continuing freshness and change. The menu is truly rustic Italian. All of our pasta, including gnocchi and ravioli, are homemade daily using only Caputo Italian flour.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Thought I was going to upscale Italian rest , but it was more Mexican as the music was latinish and our waiter was Mexican and could not speak English very well and we just shook head as we did not know what he was saying. We did not know what specials were until we heard another waitress announce them at an adjoining table. The food was good but not worth the experience The only thing Italian that evening was the decor."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Undici. Restaurant Week that brought us in. I started my dinner with the mussels appetizer which was ample and filled with nice sized delicious mussels. I had a wonderful handmade pasta called Papalina with guitar string pasta, prosciutto di parma, cremini mushroom, fresh peas, light cream and parmigiano sauce. I really enjoyed it. For dessert, I had biscotti with cannoli filling on the bottom...yum! Our server, Kevin, was very attentive and professional the whole meal. We will definitely be back. My husband ordered the ravioli special with spinach and ricotta which he really enjoyed. The Caesar salad he had was also very good. No complaints at all with our meal. It was all positive!"

  • "The service was terrific and the food was excellent. Liked the convenience of making reservation on "open table." We were there for restaurant week so it was very busy but we were seated right away."

  • "Every part of our experience at Undici was exceptional. From the moment we were greeted by the host to the moment we left. Our sever Katerina was possibly the most pleasant and helpful we've ever had. My boyfriend lived in Italy for 4 years so he typically does not like Italian restaurants in America...he can't wait to go back to this one. And not to mention the beautifully crafted building that houses this place. The manager/owner? explained that it was designed to look and feel just like an old Tuscan farmhouse. Try it out, you will not be disappointed!"

  • "We have been to Undici a few times now and it always been a great experience. The bar area has an energetic vibe and the food is outstanding. The pasta is made fresh, Pasta Bolognese, is a huge favorite. The service is great and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. Our friends, who had never been there, loved it as well. Cant wait to go back."

  • "Lovely dining experience. Especially a visual treat. However the soft mood lighting was a bit much. Everything including ladies room is very dark so be prepared! Otherwise lovely setting. Staff was attentive with bread and water and exceptional wine list was well understood and communicated by our waiter. Rabbit ravioli was so so but nice portion. Bolognese sauce on pasta was acceptable. Wasn't too thrilled with sauce. Had too much nutmeg for my tastes. Otherwise I loved it and am going back this week!"

  • "Went here for my birthday with my husband and enjoyed every minute of it. Our waiter was great. He wasn't snobby and helped us with the wine list since neither of us know how to pick a wine. I was recommend to anyone who wants great food and Ambiance to go here."

  • "I have been a fan of Undici for the last couple of years. Recently, we arrived promptly for our 8:15 PM reservation. When we arrived, we were told that our table would be ready shortly, that several parties were just finishing their meals, so we waited, and waited...and waited for 45 minutes. We were given several excuses, ranging from a number of customers who had finished their meals were "camping" at their tables and holding everyone up. We were also told that they decided to not open their upstairs dining area, so they had limited seating. While they did buy us a drink after the first 30 minutes of waiting, I don't understand the benefit of making a reservation when you are made to wait--for 45 minutes."

  • "Food is great and the wine list is extensive. Biggest issue I have with this place is that I feel rushed by the servers. This has happened numerous times to me at this restaurant. Overall I really enjoy eatng at Undici."

  • "enjoy the "feel" of the restaurant, the food is outstanding, as are the drinks, wine list and wait staff. Why drive into Manhattan, when there's an outstanding gem of an Italian restaurant in our backyard. Every time we go there, we find something else to try and enjoy on the menu, a wonderful dining experience.....Bravo !!"

  • "Undici has a great atmosphere to sit at the bar on a lazy cold weekend and watch sports. The appetizers & lunch menu was always acceptable. Recently gone for dinner, if the quality is there, we don't mind paying for good food. The prices, considering it is not a byob we found to be gouchy. Most of the specials were over 30.00. Short ribs had no 'gravy' making the dish dry. Vegetable portions were small and overcooked. Overall, it was super expensive, 400.00 for 4 people with 2 bottles of ok wine and food did not match up to priceness. Would not go back for dinner."

  • "The raviolis are the best i've ever had. They change the filling regularly so you never know what it's going to be until you get there and the variety is always a well thought out mix of ingredients. It's a small menu; everything is fresh and well prepared. You can have rabbit or pizza so they accommodate all pallets. Truly a great find."

  • "There were 5 of us and we shared 2 salads and an appetizer: The grilled calamari and insalata de pere were very good. The Ceasar salad was ok. I ordered orechiette rapini. It was good but it was very light on broccoli rabe which is what i was looking forward to.The homemade orechiette pasta was a little too big almost like shells which are not my favorite pasta. My husband ordered pizza norma which he thought was OK. The crust was soft specially at the center. One of our friends had the ravioli which he enjoyed. Two of us ordered escarole e gambini which got mixed reviews. The nutella pizza dessert was good and big enough for everybody to share. They had wine by the glass but the selection was limited. Service and ambiance were very good."

  • "What could have been a lovely Friday evening was dampened by a waiter who was quite curt, snarly, and impatient. When the first 2 wines I selected were "not available", he seemed to take it as a personal affront. But perhaps he was just having an off day. In any case, several of the dishes were excellent including the ravioli, the Branzino, and the pear salad. When the noise level and bar TVs became too intrusive, we opted to have desert at home where we could at least hear each other talk."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner very much, the food was very good. It is expensive to dine here though, my wife does not drink and I had two glasses of wine. With the tip included our check was close to $200.00, I am wheelchair disabled and the table they put us at was good until a family with small children sat behind us. They kept getting up, running around and hitting my wheelchair. I understand people going out with small children, we did it for years but never let them run all over like this family did. Undici is a very fine restaurant but some customers need to show more respect towards other diners."

  • "Salad, pizza, and a nice bottle of wine Sunday night around six. Not many people. As always, food was really good. But TV volume on Giants Cowboys game jacked up so loud it could wake up JR. Not sure why so loud - few people watching. Service not warm and friendly - seemed forced, as if going through the motions or drill. Leaving, four staff members adjacent to exit do not open doors, do not say goodnight. All minor little nitpicky stuff, but a great, well managed restaurant does not allow to happen. Seems like a place leveraging past reputation rather than working to maintain or improve it."

  • "We visited Undici during Jersey Shore restaurant week. They offered a really nice menu. The food was great and the offer an extensive wine list. The only negative was that our table was near the bar which got very crowded and noisy."

  • "Undici is Tastefully decorated. Bar area is classy cozy. First time dining there with my family for my husband's birthday, which made the evening more special. The octopus appetizer was great and my main dish was a pasta with Bolognese sauce.. The real deal!"

  • "We went to Undici for our anniversary with friends. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The italian meat platter...the grande was more than enough for 4 people. We had a variety of dinners...all very good. Crazy wine list. Pricey but we enjoyed everything."

  • "When you go into the city, restaurants pay exorbitant rents and have access to deep pocketed expense accounts, so its easier to accept much higher prices. Its easier to understand the 13 dollar martini and 12 dollar glass of wine or 17 dollar salad, but its hard to make that reach in Rumson, NJ. Undici is way way over priced. There were others in Undici's space that made this mistake and ultimately went out of business. While Rumson is an affluent town, the local folks don't want to pay NYC prices when dining in the suburbs. It's annoying. That said, I found the restaurant to be beautiful, the staff friendly and the food very good."
