Diner Reviews
  • "Uncle Nicks never disappoints!! Great food, fun time, and friendly waiters. Great for groups or a casual date!"

  • "Excellent food at economical prices. You can order bowls if food to share at the table and/or individual lunch or dinners. We've been going here for over twenty years. Always superb experience."

  • "Came here Sat night with 2 others- took a while for our server to get to us, although she did acknowledge that, it wasn't busy enough to warrant a ten minute wait before we even ordered drinks. That said, once we ordered, the service was efficient. Our waters were never empty. The food was delicious and the portions generous. Next time, we'll have to ask what the flaming appetizer is!"

  • "This was our second time to Uncle Nick's and we've loved it both times! The food is excellent - really fresh, authentic Greek, and cooked to perfection! The wait staff, too, is wonderful. Not fancy, by any means, but a great place to go!"

  • "Food was great - good place to go. Lot's of hustle bustle, which was perfect for us!"

  • "Was completely disappointed. No lunch menu on the weekends. Does not state that on the website. Had to paydinnerprices for lunch. Do not even give you a pita and some hummus while you are waiting. Need to be more generous with their amenities."

  • "Uncle NIck's Greek Cuisine is a perfect place for lunch or pre-theater dinner. The food is tasty, service quick enough, reasonable prices and the atmosphere is friendly, with enough buzz to make it feel lively but not so loud to drown out conversation. Our party particularly enjoyed the pork chops and kebabs, pita and dips. Terrific Greek salad. The "small" is big enough for 3 or four as a side. We've returned many times and always enjoyed."

  • "Loved everything about this place. They even were able to make some dishes gluten free for me. The prices were great too. We highly recommend."

  • "Great food and wonderful service! We come here all the time - it's always wonderful!"

  • "Not my first time here; but the experience this time was disappointing. Food was very good as always. We had seafood dishes and both were excellent. Service was terrible; we were largely ignored most of the time. My entre came wrong the first time which meant he wasn't even listening when I ordered. We dined early and there was no crowd, so they were not busy yet. I am not sure what the problem was."

  • "I Love love love love this place. Great for everything but a quiet evening and/or if you don't like to be cramped while eating. They squeeze a lot of people in the space....but had never kept me from making this my first choice for quick, delicious, simple greek food."

  • "All dishes were served timely and hot and nicely displayed. Food was delicious. Waiters provided good service. As with many other restaurants, these waiters also had to be reminded NOT to remove dishes before all diners have finished eating. Isn't that waiter school 101???"

  • "My family has been to Greece and eaten in many Greek restaurants. Uncle Nick's serves delicious food in plentiful portions. We went prior to a Wednesday matinee on Broadway. Convenient location, great service and lots of choices on the menu."

  • "Extensive fresh fish menu. Authentic Greek cuisine."

  • "It was our first time dining here and we will return. The food was fabulous from the appetizers and sald (we three shared the large house salad) to the entrees (fish and lamb) to dessert. The house red was perfect with everything, too. The casual look at the entry may cause some to wonder about the food, but they know how to cook. My husband and son both had fish (large portions, perfectly grilled with olive oil and lemon). My lamb kabob had lean cubes of lamb perfectly done. The desserts can easily be split, really are too much for one person after the rest of the meal."

  • "and it was FANTASTIC, they sat us at a table in the back..bothered us when needed and left alone when not. The server was amazing and the food was even bettter. Will definitely be coming back again and again,"

  • "Great food, great service. Wish the seating was not as close together, but overall a great find. The sangria and the lamb burger were delicious. They made accommodations to substitute beef for chicken in our dish."

  • "Very good Greek food and fun place to go with a family. It's loud enough, so the kids aren't a disruption to others, and the variety of appetizers is great! We met our extended family there, shared plates and had a nice, relaxing time."

  • "The place does not look like much from the street but we were pleasantly surprised the the setting was casually respectable. The food was very good and priced reasonably. I believe the person who took our orders was either the owner or family and he treated us very well. Would recommend for casual dining at a reasonable price."

  • "Excellent dinner, casual but still high quality. My swordfish was prepared so well -- there was a lot and I couldn't finish it, but wish I'd had it for lunch leftovers the next day!"

  • "Cute atmosphere, great food and service, reasonable prices. Great location because it's easy to park after 6 p.m. and close enough to Port Authority when busing it in. Here's what's great:: lemon chicken soup (make sure it's hot enough when served), Inopikilia (large appetizer platter + large greek salad and you've got a meal for 4 (plus dessert of course), veggie moussaka, ouzo of course, saganaki (flaming cheese appetizer; delicious and fun), rodela (Greek fries; get them very well done), feta & tomato salad , Feta & Tomato Saganaki (Feta over vine tomatoes baked in oven. $10) There's plenty of other great-sounding items on the menu but this is what I know and love. Go and enjoy!"

  • "If you love fish and mediterranean cuisine, Uncle Nick's is the place to go. My friend and I each had grilled whole fish cooked with olive oil and lemon - simple but so satisfying. The fish were fresh and sweet and we didn't need to add any condiments or salt and pepper to enhance the taste. For dessert, we had the decadently delicious Greek custard wrapped in fillo; it was so big that it could have been shared among 4-5 people. It is my second time to dine at Uncle Nick's and I will certainly be returning soon with other friends."

  • "This was a great hole-in-the-wall experience with amazing food! The restaurant is small and gets cold from the door opening but the food more than made up for it."

  • "We ordered the special of the day only to be told a few minutes later that the meat for the special was not ready...we got salads instead. An apology would have gone a long way."

  • "Food is consistently good. Grilled octopus outstanding."

  • "great food. helpful wait staff. We had fish, shrimp, gyros and scallops. Shrimp and gyros were better than scallops and fish. Nice size portions. tasty food. Vegetables and potatoes were delicious. Greek salad looked mazing along with the traditional greek entrees. Able to accommodate gluten free easily."

  • "The food at Uncle Nick's is authentic, delicious and preseted very well. We were there on a very busy Saturdy night, but the service was still very attentive and the food came out quickly and was excellent! We especially loved the saganaki (flaming cheese) and the Inopikilia (appetizer sampler). The prices are also very reasonable and the food plentiful! My parents who are from Greece and are very difficult to please were just delighted with the food and service at Uncle Nick's! We will definitely be back!"

  • "The moussaka was excellent! Tzatziki and pita were very good as well. We had saganaki as an appetizer and while it was good, I have had better. No other bad things to say about this place, would definitely go back!"

  • "Loved this place. The food was fantastic. Great authentic Greek Cuisine. The entrees were generous and don't leave without trying the baklava. Also, it is a BYOB. They did charge a corking fee though : - ("

  • "This a before-the theater restaurant suitable for those who just want a pleasant place to eat and don't much care about the quality or creativity of the meal. It's perfectly adequate,"

  • "The kind of Greek food that you tend to think you can find only in Astoria - and it's right on 9th Avenue. Superb lamb chops - excellent appetizers and very friendly service."
    Dined on 11/12/2013
  • "Really friendly service, authentic Greek food! big portions - just a warm, fun place to eat. We had the 4 dip appetizer , calamari (whole tubes sautéed and so tender), lamb shanks & chicken kebabs. All nice. The fish looked amazingly fresh in the window as well... My friend left his credit card there and when we discovered it the next evening, we called and they had it. Highly recommended!"
