We had conversions with all our wait staff and they made us feel at home. Our waiter explained all the wines to us and even taught us what to look for in a good wine. I found Uncle Jack's on Open Table and made a reservation, then when I arrived I asked to sit at the bar. The bartender knew her wine list, and had three very good and uncommon cabernets by the glass for me to choose from, so I had to try all three. The oysters were perfect, the salad was very good. My New York strip steak, a house specialty, was very flavorful but not quite as tender as I expected.
Steak prices were modest by New York standards. If not for the customer service, I would've given this restaurant 2 stars for effort. The website was wrong to post that "kids eat free ALL DAY Sunday." It so happens that it's only for "dinner." We spent another $40 for a Sizzler steak for the kids. Haven't tried Sizzler, but that's how I imagine their steak would be. The porterhouse may be shared by 3 people. It was bland. The manager even came up to check on us and gave my boyfriend a birthday dessert. I must say, The service at Uncle Jack's has been the best service I have ever received in a restaurant in the city! Although the steaks were originally not cooked to out liking, the waiter and manger were quick to resolve the issue and give us not only new steaks, but also new sides, to ensure all our food would be hot and available to eat together.
That's called Superb Customer Service.
