Wonderful food...always interesting and delicious
Friendly efficient waiters
Love this restaurant!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFANTASTICWe had such and amazing experience at Umami! Although it took a bit for anyone to greet us and take our drink order, the rest of the evening more than made up for the hesitation I initially felt. We realized that the servers take the time to discuss the intricate components of each day's specials with each table before moving on to the next. This caused a short delay in our greeting, but the attention to detail and the fantastic service there after made us feel so special. We LOVED the food--our favorite being the Torro appetizer...a once in a lifetime opportunity. And we were completely stoked that the chef came out to talk with us about his food. Can't wait to go back!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery Mouthful Delicious! We went to Umami on my birthday with another couple. None of us had dined there before, so we were there because of recommendations from others. We ordered the goat cheese and broccoli appetizers, both of which were wonderful. I had the mixed greens side salad and red snapper special. Others ordered the chicken curry and sea scallops. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and felt the portions were just right. We shared the strawberry rhubarb shortcake for dessert and were glad we only ordered one dessert as it was huge. The service was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and not overbearing. The timing of the food was comfortable, and we did not feel rushed.
We will definitely return!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall dinner spot in the FallsThis is a very small restaurant in down town Chagr Falls. The proprietors are the chef and head waitrss. She is delightful and is quite bubbly and personable. My wife and I dine there for our anniversary every year! The dishes are unique and flavorful.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways fantasticWhenever I'm in town Umami is must stop for dinner. Service is always great the food is fantastic!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Umami! We love this restaurant- it is small and intimate. Their chef is creative with his dishes- the tastes are unique i.e. their scallops with edamame hummus melted in your mouth... I like the option of some small plates. I had a bowl of yummy mussels and a delicious salad of their local greens after sharing all the appetizers. Others ordered entrees of both fish and pork and found them and their side dish pairings tasty. We made sure to save room for desert- especially for the salty caramel creme brule. Their manager is good at describing their wines and allowed us to try three that we were considering. This allowed us to pick one more to our liking- full bodied.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMUmami-Another Experience to SavorUmami is an East Side Cleveland gem! This quaint, but comfortable restaurant serves uniquely flavored food with the best, most attentive service from Gail/Gayle. She, and her cohorts, made sure that our meal was a pleasant and memorable experience. The food was delicious, as it always has been at Umami!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Dining Find the Country - sideIf in Cleveland, one has to carve out some time for this exciting 2 hour moment of decadence in downtown Chagrin Falls. The staff pours on the service while the special meal selections are prepared with attention to detail.
We enjoyed our 5th wedding anniversary here and will definitely return.
Three words... Local, Fresh, Original.

We enjoyed a wonderful local greens salad, tender duck, and delicious tuna. Service was just right, there when you want them only!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was scrumptious. ServiceFood was scrumptious. Service was outstanding. A lovely relaxed evening.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMYes, go try Umami. Our first time there. The menu may seem a little limited, but I think it is a matter of it being a small and intimate restaurant, and the items they prepare are done perfectly. We tried several small plates (clams (special), California roll, roasted shiitakes, goat cheese dumplings), and shared one large plate (udon with beef). All excellent and flavorful. Shiitakes and dumplings were my favorites. Perfect service. Go. We'll be back.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is perfectly andThe food is perfectly and often imaginatively prepared, with textures and flavors wonderfully integrated. The tuna sushi was delicious, although not remarkable. A crispy fried scallop on a bed of endamame hummus was perfectly coated and fried, and silky and tender inside. The duck confit with chestnut and barley was an inspired combination of rich but not overwhelming flavors, the duck moist and tender.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been here a few timesWe have been here a few times an always have left feeling really good. Chef Matt is just second to none in creating very good healthy food.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMfood is delicious but veryfood is delicious but very expensive for small portions.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for a Celebration!Loved all the special attention the staff gave to my husband for his 60th birthday! Such a wonderful experience.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food, first-rateOutstanding food, first-rate service and superb attention to detail. They offer a limited choice of sushi, but the selection is very good. But the entree presentations are the reason to dine here, Miso glazed salmon served over seasonable vegetables in a dashi broth with noodles or rice, depending on the presentation. Delicious. The tofu fries and goat cheese dumplings are always popular with our dining group. The house-made desserts are outstanding. In most Japanese restaurants, I usually pass on dessert, but save room for these!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLike a boomarang we'll be backCharming little bistro in Chagrin Falls. Food is delicious and prepared with care by chefs who obviously know what they're doing. Friendly but not pushy service. Udon noodles a must. Also had a tasty Baileys chocolate tart (the crust was as good as the filling!). Yummy lavender kir royale cocktail. We will be back!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMTop shelf from top to bottom,Top shelf from top to bottom, made even more so by our fabulous waitress, Nicole. We're not big Asian food fans, but we all left happy. Quality ingredients - innovative specials - great atmosphere - brick walls, cozy booths.2/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
