A word from Uchiko
We are proud to announce... Located in central Austin, this second location of Cole’s highly-praised Uchi presents the same excellence and energetic atmosphere of the original with some noteworthy additions. Uchiko will feature a new menu with Uchi’s same style of innovative, fresh cuisine, a main dining room that accepts reservations throughout the evening and an eat-in bar/café area. Continued

  • "Uchiko knows what they're doing when it comes to creating unique dishes that fuse unlikely flavors. I am quite adventurous when it comes to food and love discovering food pairings that are rare and satisfying. The staff is very knowledgeable when it comes to what they are serving and has always been so friendly and kind; especially when it comes to celebrating special occasions and making recommendations. A must visit."

  • "Per the usual best service and freshest fish in Austin!!!"

  • "(Caution I am a little picky). Although we had a reservation, we had to wait 15 minutes with nowhere to wait. No bar etc. Strange crowd for Austin. Didn't feel like Austin. More like Kansas City or something. More kids than I would expect. Also location in the strip mall not so great. However, fantastic food, very nice service. Great Sake list. Less expensive than we expected. A definitive repeat."

  • "Best sushi in Texas - I eat very good sushi all the time in NY and NJ and was astonished to find sushi of equal caliber and such interesting preparations."

  • "Overall good but portions are really small. Waiter was excellent. I like Uchi better."

  • "Yummy! Try the wagyu sushi. Food is always delicious and a step above at Uchiko."

  • "It was good, fun. Great reasonably priced bottle of wine, lots of fun and interesting food options. But it was very similar to Uchi, without the top top notch quality. Plus they were out of the brussels sprouts, ridiculous because they are so popular. But it was good and a great way to spend a birthday."

  • "Not as good as a year ago. The Brussels sprouts were very salty and over sauced. Out of the tasting dishes we tried 1/2 were very good the est average. For this pricey restuarant, all he dishes should wow you. They did a year ago - not now."

  • "I am deaf so I cannot be accountable for sound level at uchiko. Other than that, it was so outstanding, I was able to be assigned to a sushi chef- Piter. I had him three times in a row. He's a really sweet sushi chef even I can tell a difference myself. I am a chef myself and he reached more than what he can do to make sure to make my dining experience memorable. He made sure I had lamated index cards to explain each dishes I order from uchiko. I assume that's what I am missing out from servers when they bring dishes to our table for what we have. They certainly compensated for that. Our server was extremely sweet. I lost my recipet but I know all uchiko servants do that anyway. She gave us a free dish. DESSERT. Uchiko is the place to be!"

  • "Food was tremendous and our server was friendly and helpful with our choices. I even mentioned to my husband upon leaving about how they had gone above and beyond, what a wonderful experience. It made me feel like being a customer for life!"

  • "Everything was excellent from the amazing food to the service. We always have an incredible time. Thank you to Chef Tim, our server Brian, and the entire staff for making us feel so welcome. Andrea"

  • "Amazing, as always. Foodie heaven. Every bite made me happy. The fried milk was incredible!"

  • "Exceptional food and even better service. We had a meal of a lifetime. They tailored the menu just to our needs and were wonderful about everything. My only complaint is that our table was right up against the bar and bar patrons sat on our table's edge and were too close for comfort, but everything else was ideal."

  • "Food was incredible. Don't expect to order a meal, instead you select a number of different options from various categories on the menu. You really can't go wrong but I definitely recommend the fried brussel sprouts."

  • "Innovative, fresh, delicious sushi and Asian cuisine. Can't go wrong. Ask the waiter for their personal favorites. Service is amazing."

  • "Uchiko is often hailed as one of the best restaurants in Austin. I thought it was good, not great. I did not leave feeling like I had enough to eat, and did not think there was much of a sushi selection. This is definitely a place that a true "foodie" would appreciate. When I got back to my hotel, I ordered a cheeseburger."

  • "The food was delicious and was presented beautifully. The noise level was a little high, but that is to be expected in a popular venue. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive (almost too attentive)"

  • "For the first time I have to say that we didn't enjoy our dinner at Uchiko. The service was extremely slow and poorly paced. The food was not up to par and having eaten here almost 50 times I can definitely say it was an off night. I usually rave about my meal but only 1 thing we had was good and it was the brussel sprouts. By the end we just wanted our last dish so we could leave. Overall I must say it was pretty disappointing."

  • "I don't know why we waited so long to visit Uchiko. It completely lives up to its reputation. My advice is to try the dishes that have a unique Uchiko twist, and skip the more common sushi choices. Even though everything is top-notch, why not revel in the innovation Uchiko provides?"

  • "We felt welcomed from the entrance to the exit. The wait staff was outstanding. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We consider this restaurant to be one of the best in the city."

  • "We tried a lot of things on the menu and most items did not disappoint. The brussel sprouts were a great appetizer as were the avocado rolls. We also really enjoyed the vegetarian roll with romaine and a wagyu beef roll (you must be able to tolerate some spice for that one) that our waiter told us was part of the sake social hour but was not on the menu. We loved the desserts (the chocolate milk one and the corn one) and the amazing service from our really knowledgeable waiter, Zach, and the rest of the people that supported him (including the hostess upon our arrival). We were a group of 6 women and he clearly told us the best and easiest way for us to share the menu items."

  • "Uchiko is the sister restaurant to Uchi. I prefer Uchi personally, but that is no indictment as Uchi is one of the best restaurants in town. Given the price you will pay at either establishment, I'd be inclined to save my money and crowbar myself into Uchi. Food gets 3 stars at Uchiko purely on the price point. Everything is excellent, but it can run into some $$$. Given the large crowds there, this must not be a problem for Austin's clientele."

  • "Sublime dining experience. The unique combination of flavors on every plate was just absolutely incredible. We experienced top-notch service from Tim, who not only listened to our questions but provided superb recommendations from the menu. We had a four course meal that progressed from small bites to desert and the whole meal was exquisite. Highly recommend a visit ASAP!"

  • "Great restaurant deserves all other buzz. But don't expect the typical sushi experience. Each dish is unique - and delicious. Bring money, try to find a quiet table against the wall, relax and enjoy!!"

  • "First time. Need to understand rythum of how service works. Good Food!"

  • "The food was fantastic, but the service was not the greatest. We ordered some of the sake social hour menu items along with the 10 course omakase and a dessert. The pacing of the meal was quite poor, as we'd get one dish on top of the other and then see no one for a long time. Regardless, the food was amazing, as usual."

  • "We are based out of San Antonio however Uchiko is definitely worth a trip to Austin, just for the restaurant! The food is absolutely delicious, one-of-a kind. The Tiger Cry, P38, Jar Jar Duck and beets are always regular dishes when we go. This time, there was a short rib dish on the specials, definitely makes one of the top dishes we've had there. We also tried the eggplant this time which was also very tasteful. The service is exceptional."

  • "Wanted to check out Uchiko since I had heard so much about it from various websites saying it was THE place to go in Austin for great food and a romantic dinner. Gotta say the wife and I were very impressed and will definitely be back. The food is what you'd expect from a Top Chef winner. The dishes are not traditional but have a special concoction of taste only a top chef can make happen. The vibe is real chill and the music was great. As long as you don't go in sandals and shorts I think you'll be alright. Just make sure you have a reservation or show up early because it gets swamped real fast. Free valet was cool too."

  • "Lived up to' its great reputation. We had to' dine early so took advantsge of The 5-6pm "social scene" menù. Left 6 choices up to' our great server! We too loved the brussel sprouts!"

  • "Probably our last visit to Uchiko. They seem to be living off their reputation at this point, but possibly we just hit them on a bad night. Went for a special occasion, were given a nice quiet table off in a corner, food was very pricey but excellent. Service in the past had been impeccable, as well. Maybe it was the fact that it was 2 days after Xmas, 3rd string kitchen and waitstaff? We had to flag down waitress and bussers repeatedly for course orders, water refills, etc., and as the rush tailed off, service got worse- we sat long stretches waiting for drinks, small plates, etc. After waiting half an hour for desert, we asked the waitress to cancel the order and just bring us the bill, which brought the manager. He apologized and knocke"
