  • "We finally strayed from having the usual sushi which is so good it's hard to stay away from. We had a variety of dishes, all very small so you need quite a few but they were all delicious. The brussels sprouts are the best I've ever had. The taster menu is the best and worth the expense. Love this place."

  • "One of the most exquisite meals I have had; bested only by Vegas' L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon and NYC's Le Bernadin. Small wonder one must look for the 3-week window and make a reservation at that time. Each item is 8 or so different tastes that taste great together. Service as fantastic as the food. We'll be back."

  • "Oh man I had the best birthday dinner at Uchi. It was an amazing 10 course dinner. The waiter was so great! I would recommend it!"

  • "Awesome food and an amazing staff. Our waiter, Matt, was very passionate about the restaurant and the food. Each dish was brought out by a different staff and they all had that same passion."

  • "The food at Uchi is beyond EXCELLENT!! Every dish we ordered, and we ordered many to share at our table, was unbelieveable! The 'Foi Gras'is a MUST!!! I haven't had foi gras as good as that since Paul Bocuse's restaurant in Lyon, France. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!!"

  • "Uchi was incredibly delicious. It was kinda neat to pull up to what is essentially the old Felix Mexican restaurant site on Westheimer & Montrose. We made an early reservation (6:00pm) and when we arrived we were seated directly with no wait. Great wait staff. I think about 7 different people delivered our food and each and every person was knowledgeable and explained what we were about to indulge in. We went with the suggested 6 course deal ($91.00 for two of us was plenty of food and included dessert) where we trusted our waiter and out came some stuff that I have never heard of but all of it tasted so amazing. I was so amazed. The pacing was perfect and we stayed for 2 hours. Come visit Uchi and eat probably the best food anywhere"

  • "The edamame was grilled with an excellent smoky flavor. Hama chili was bursting with citrus flavor with a slight kick! Walu walu was extremely flavorful and a group favorite! We also ordered the zero sen and the spicy crunchy tuna which were enjoyed as well. One individual ordered Unagi and said that it was some of the best he had. We could not stop raving about the crispy brussel sprouts - we ordered seconds! With every delivery, the staff explained every piece of the dish, including details of preparation and recommendations for method of eating, as appropriate. We did not need to use soy sauce one bit, as it seemed it would take away the flavor of the items ordered. Great evening. We'll return!"

  • "Went here to celebrate my partner's birthday, and the entire experiences exceeded my expectations. We shared the signature tasting menu along with a few other dishes. The Norwegian eel was great, and make sure you get the dessert with fried milk. I also appreciated how attentive all of the waitstaff was. Sometimes when you are served by multiple waiters at a restaurant, it feels impersonal, but at Uchi, each and every person that came to our table took the time to ask how the food was, explained each dish, and suggested the best way to enjoy each bite (which sounds way more obnoxious than it was). Will definitely be coming back to try the omakase tasting menu."

  • "My experience at Uchi was amazing. The food was delicious, unique, and amazingly prepared and plated, and our server, Ryan, was excellent. We decided to go with the "trust your waiter" option where our server essentially brought us out his recommended dishes to us until we decided we were full. We indulged in 12 dishes and each was amazing. On top of the wonderful food, our server was extremely knowledgeable and was constantly attending to us. All in all, it was an amazing dining experience. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We went to Uchi Austin years ago and loved it. So we were very excited when we heard that Uchi was coming to Houston. Took my husband for his birthday, had a great time, went back with friends. I love that they don't rush you. The 6 and 10 course meals are fabulous and I love the Hot Rock Scallops and Beef. And I never leave without having the brussel sprouts, which are amazing."

  • "Uchi lives up to the hype! The service was wonderful and the food was incredible. We had a reservation but ended up having to wait about half an hour. We were having a drink at the bar while we waited and DID NOT COMPLAIN, look annoyed, or even ask what the extended wait was about. With no prompting one of the hostesses brought us each a glass of champagne and apologized for the wait. Then after we sat down we were given an item from the menu to apologize again for our wait. Truly great service! Our server was knowledgable and personable. And then, on top of all that, the food was deathly good. I LOVED everything. If I had time, I would eat here twice a week."

  • "Definitely one of the best restaurants in Houston. They are not kidding when they say "Everything on the menu is great" Can't wait to try more items, making reservation is the difficult part."

  • "Always a great meal experience. Although we found that the more expensive chef's tasting was not better than their regular tasting. You don't come here for regular sushi. You come for their creative and amazing combinations that just wow your mouth. The happy hour menu is amazing and worth getting there as doors open. If you are like me dessert doesn't do much for you but at UCHI please please try them. Blow you away good!"

  • "Everything we tried here was outstanding. Even the soy sauce was unique and tasty! Didn't know what I was eating half the time but it was all delicious! Pricey but not over rated and a good value for the exquisite flavors and quality of sushi. I'll def be returning here!"

  • "Just amazing! This was our second time to Uchi and we love this place. The food is amazing, the customer service is awesome. Our first time, we picked a few items to share between 6 people and it was a great experience. This time we trusted our waitress to pick out her favorite items, for sharing between 4. OMG! It was amazing. I wish I could recall the waitress's name but I was distracted by the sake and delicious food. We left with full bellies, yet I truly wanted to continue tasting. I'm already planning my return, 1 week seems like forever. Uchi I miss you."

  • "This would have to have been one of if not THE best meal i have had EVER!! and that's saying a lot since my husband and i pride ourselves on being foodies. We have eaten all over the world in some of the loveliest restaurants, Uchi just went that little bit further :) have now made a regular booking with them and plan on being there at least once a month."

  • "the food is inspired and inspiring Japanese cuisine. You won't find the menu dominated by the usual fare of tuna or salmon (although they have these as well, but nestled amongst so many other . Highly recommend the fried brie with apple chutney, the sea bream sushi, foie gras sushi, wagyu beef hot rock, bacon tataki, and the peanut butter semifreddo. However, what prevents me from giving five stars for the food is that the yellowtail with yucca chips (on the cold tastings menu) looks sloppy and has a confusing taste profile, while the sake salmon nigiri slices have no sake taste whatsoever and is rather pedestrian. Both were way overpriced for their quality and uninspired nature. But, I'd highly recommend this place."

  • "Since it was my first time there, me and my husband tried the 10 course meal. The sushi was not good. Although the sashimi with the tangerine was very good. The salad was our favorite. But everything else was not worth the money. Our server was very nice and informative. Ambience was chic and and lively. My husband liked the Uchi in Austin better."

  • "Truly phenomenal experience! The service is stellar, the waiters are all so friendly and knowledgeable. Although we had one main waiter, the dishes were brought out by a variety of servers; each was friendly and described in detail the dish as they set it down. We went with a 6-course chef selection and each item was fantastic. I loved everything. I would recommend trusting the server to order for you and just enjoy the experience of trying a bunch of different menu items. This place isn't cheap, but it's worth the experience. I really enjoyed the food."

  • "We very much enjoyed our dining experience. Our server, Nora, was excellent. On the down side, it was raining, parking (valet) is behind the building with not so short a walk to the from door. Instead of valet taking our car when we first pulled into the driveway (a little closer to the entrance), they motioned us on up to their tent!"

  • "Fantastic meal. I was with a group of 4. Thanks to our server's recommendation, we ordered one of everything on the happy hour menu and then shared the six course tasting plus a few extras for our fourth person who does not eat sushi. The servers worked as a team, so drinks stayed fresh and as soon as we finished one dish, another was brought out and described. Enjoyed everything. Standouts for us were the walu walu, flounder sashimi, bacon otoshi, zero sen, eggplant, machi cure, and a hot rice dish with yellowtail and egg cooked at the table. Most of these are on the happy hour menu, which is a great deal. The hot rock wagyu beef was another fun experience. And of course, the brussels sprouts, which the server referred to as "Uchi crack"."

  • "My reservation changed at the last moment (extra people), and the staff at Uchi was very accommodating. The waiters were knowledgeable and made for a wonderful experience. There is not a lot of room to wait indoors, so that can be uncomfortable."

  • "As usual, a perfect meal was had at Uchi. Highlights this time were the wagyu beef dish and the peekytoe crab. In fact, the last couple of wagyu beef variations on their daily menu have really been spectacular. There's always something new, exciting and thought-provoking at Uchi. We couldn't have picked a better place for a birthday dinner. Kaz is a rock star in the kitchen and Ryan is a rock star on the floor. Happy holidays!"
