I've been going there since it
opened and it has never disappointed."
Dined on 2/5/2014
The food is wonderful and
fresh. Jimbo Ross and band are consistantly wonderful with an ecletic mix of styles that leave you with a desire/addiction for more!!"

Always good. Interesting menu.
Tasty dishes. Convenient to nearby theatre."

Yes, you can eat a scorpion. They
have 3-4 unique "bug" dishes on their appetizer menu. All items ordered were served warm and fresh from the kitchen. Their wine menu was enjoyable. One special feature is their big band nights and live music, in the main dining hall, but also the option of the second floor dining room for a more quiet "date" experience."
Dined on 8/12/2013
Food is consistently excellent.
Welcoming relaxed atmosphere. We enjoy watching the aircrafts large and small come and go. Kids often dream of being in the cockpit and at Santa Monica Airport, this dream can easily come true. Enjoy the food and ask the manager how you can see an airplane up close. There is also a museum nearby. Had a wonderful dining experience."
Dined on 1/3/2014
Food is good and the music is
great. A couple nights a week they have jazz bands at the Typhoon and the place rocks. If you love big band jazz, check it out."
Dined on 12/31/2013
I liked it for it's taste in
style, entertainment, food and service."

Loved seeing jazz swing big band
Suzy & Her Solid Senders! Great food, too!"
Dined on 12/17/2013
Had so much fun here the other
night! Typhoon was really cozy. We started with pickles and a warm Mexican cocktail at the bar. Dinner was delicious dumplings, hot n sour soup, and kimchee, followed by Korean glass noodles, vegetable curry, garlic brown rice, Pilipino chicken, and steamed fish. Lots of laughing. Good for groups and family style sharing. Waitstaff is on it."

Highest quality jazz performance
by BEJO Jazz orchestra overlooking the Santa Monica airport"

Very very good. I always enjoy
coming here. I am glad the ants are back on the menu"
Dined on 9/14/2013
You can watch planes land and
take-off, but you also get some very tasty food. Some unique exotic french fried bugs are on the menu just to delight you. Oh, and they have jazz nights too. Good music, good food, great view…what's not to like?"
Dined on 11/15/2013
We are long time patron of this
establishment. Food is consistently excellent. Staff is friendly and efficient. The huge windows offers a panoramic view of the airport and planes."
Dined on 11/1/2013
The whole fried cat fish is
outstanding. There is a wide range of selections on the menu, something for absolutely everyone. The best part is its been consistent for the past 15 years."
Dined on 10/30/2013
My boyfriend and I and another
couple were hoping for a fun, vibrant ambience at Typhoon, but it was slow and somewhat dead on a Friday night. Our reservation was at 8:30 pm. The food tasted really good; we ordered pad thai, scorpion, chicken curry, crickets, vegetables, tofu and another noodle dish."
Dined on 10/12/2013
Nice Pan Asian restaurant right on
the runway at Santa Monica airport. We came for a birthday dinner and everything was great. Really enjoyed the food, service, and view. It was quiet that night because they did not have any jazz bands playing, and you could speak with your friends without having to shout."
Dined on 10/13/2013
Very nice place w a great scene
especially if you enjoy small planes as this overlooks the runway of Santa Monica airport. Fusion Asian food that's wonderful and very nice service!"
Dined on 10/3/2013
saw typhoon on andrew zimmern and
my son wanted to go for the bugs. We went on saturday and had a great time. Great service, hip but casual atmosphere and great view of the airport and the ocean. The menu is great with all sorts of asian dishes. Had potstickers, soft shell crab for appetizers, excellent. The pad thai was good but a bit spicey for the kids. Scallops with black bean were very tasty. I liked the ant, scorpion and cricket dishes. My son thought the ants were a bit too sour. The scorpion shrimp toast was the best of the three. Great bar, I had a soporro draft, my wife had a mojito, excellent. For desert, I recommend the pineapple upside down cake. We drove an hour to get there and it was worth it."
Dined on 9/29/2013
I've been going here for years,
but it had been awhile. They've made some changes to the menu, which is good. Food is "Asian' with mostly Thai. Everything was delicious and service was great. Nice view of Santa Monica airport too. When the kids were little, they got a kick out of ordering 'bugs'! Luckily they've outgrown that now, but they are still on the menu."
Dined on 9/21/2013
The evening was great! Everyone
there was so nice and attentive. Overall, I will return and inform friends of it as well."
Dined on 9/17/2013
We had not returned to Typhoon for
a while, just because we moved further away. Everything was as wonderful as before: the food, the service, the view... This is really a special place."
Dined on 9/15/2013
The Typhoon Restaurant offers
great food, friendly waiters, fabulous service, and a breathtaking view. I recommend it to everyone for all occasions."
Dined on 9/11/2013
Food was great we usually go 2
times a month the place is great and the service is excellent love it"
Dined on 8/18/2013
The food was fantastic. The music
was great to listen to and we enjoyed the night."
Dined on 8/13/2013
With the sun setting at 8:30,
there was plenty of light to watch planes while we enjoy the delicious fusion Asian dinner. Owner Brian Vidor visits to make sure everything is good, and it was excellent. Our waiters were attentive yet non obtrusive. Food was excellent variety of Asian fare. Nice job guys. We need to come back for Monday night big band jazz."
Dined on 7/15/2013
We had the pleasure of hearing a
big band - like a REAL big band with multiple saxophones, trumpets, trombones - incredible. The food is excellent - great appetizers, spicy and tasty entrees and a full bar! The service is attentive and I know that Typhoon has great acoustics and regular musical entertainment. Oh yea - it's at the Santa Monica airport, which means you get to watch airplanes take off and land throughout the whole meal."
Dined on 7/9/2013
Nice place to enjoy the live music
and the food! The noise level sometimes may get pretty loud but still worth it!"
Dined on 11/13/2012
Thank you Typhoon for great big
band jazz, rare nowadays...good attentive service, food also good.. Coming back soon."
Dined on 6/25/2013
Whole shrimps were yummy! However,
the rest of the dishes--vegetable curry, lettuce cups, eggplant, and pad thai were very so-so. Definitely have had better there in the past. Not sure if this is why the restaurant wasn't as busy as I remember. They had a band at 9:30 with dancing, which looked like fun."
Dined on 6/23/2013
always good food and great service
in a fun atmosphere."
Dined on 6/14/2013
I don't know what other sorts of
group they have here, but Steve is a friend of a friend and he plays here once a year. The band is terrific and a bunch of us go and have a good time."
Dined on 5/28/2013
Up to the 2nd floor of the Santa
Monica Airport main terminal building is where the Typhoon Restaurant can be found. (Don't forget to make the corner past the "Kitchen Entrance" door.) Great views of the runway and aircraft tie-down areas. Menu is interesting, varied and Asian. Pineapple fried rice was delicious, very well done. Scallops and Kung Pao chicken tasted fresh and were delivered in an appetizing presentation. Overall a very nice dining experience, albeit a bit noisy. The men's restroom was a B+ in cleanliness. Felipe was our food server and did well, but he was difficult to hear / understand due to the noise. The 3rd floor is for the outside tables taking photographs of the arriving and departing GA aircraft."
Dined on 5/18/2013
The food at Typhoon is always
excellent and the menu adventurous and extensive! The ambience and view are amazing!"
Dined on 5/11/2013
After having dinner there many
times, brunched for first time today. Food, view and service excellent - what did we expect?"
Dined on 5/5/2013
I took my best girl here. Food was
great, service was ok, but the view was da bomb. Then I took my girl up to the observation deck and she told me I was her favorite man. It was a pleasurable experience."
Dined on 5/3/2013
Dined on 4/30/2013
The food is consistantly
great...the servers friendly and attentive.....the crowd is there to enjoy all that is offered and never diappointed."
Dined on 4/19/2013
Great food. Nice waiters, but they
didn't seem to have time for all the customers. It was very noisy."
Dined on 3/19/2013
All the food dishes we ordered
were very good, and our servers were very good Also."
