Typhoon Asian BistroFun Back Bay sushi spotTyphoon is a solid place for sushi (and I imagine for their non-sushi dishes as well, which I did not try). Servers are friendly and responsive, but not overbearing. While it has more than enough Back Bay cache, it is not pretentious. This is a great place to go to with friends or maybe a good place for a low-key date. My date and I had the calamari appetizer, dragon roll, spider roll, and the spicy rainbow roll- all were great!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat! My friend and I went here on Saturday night aroudn 5. I made a reservtatino but I don't think I really needed too. But better safe than sorry. I got tofu fresh rolls to start and he got veggie dumplings. both were delicious. I also got the Typhoon Spicey. I got it with Tofu instead of Chicken. I didn't realize they had a vegan menu until I looked at the site afterwards. The menu they give you doesn't have that option, you probably have to ask. My friend got Sushi. Both were amazing!! Would definitely come again.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMService was much improvedService was much improved from last visit. The waiter was knowledgeable and very attentive to service. Filled the water glasses promptly. Food was very good, nice combination of flavors.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFriday night dinner with friendsA good convenient and interesting restaurant to meet friends on a Friday night. Above-average variety of wines by the glass (including great plum wine); tasty coconut soup and huge shrimp tempura were fantastic appetizers. 'La Mer" entree was somewhat of a disappointment: the bright red lobster tail in the middle of the plate was empty, only for decoration. I eventually found one, maybe two, small pieces of lobster meat. The scallops and shrimp were large & fresh. Accompanying grated lettuce salad was without character and should be replaced with some interesting veggie. Flamed fresh fruit with ice cream was delicious - a favorite now. Rock music out of sync with the main dining area was fortunately replaced by more appropriate sounds.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPretty Asian FusionTyphoon Bistro is a very nice pan Asian restaurant. It is pretty with white tablecloths and a small outside area with tables. The best things we had were the sauteed scallops and the flambe dessert. A Japanese style seafood soup was not too flavorful but the ingredients were very fresh. The chopped chicken in lettuce leaves appetizer was so so and the eel unagi was also good but not the best we've had. Overall, though, the service was excellent and we had a good time. The prices also seem a bit high but it is in the heart of the Back Bay so that's what's normal around there. Overall, I would go back.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Asian Variety!Went with my daughter since we were on vacation there. Would love to go with my husband and indulge in cocktails. Nice ambience with a ton of different (colorfully attractive) liquors! Great variety of Asian foods - not just Japanese/sushi. Meal was very enjoyable. Food and service were both great. My only issue was that it seems to be on the small side, so tables feel cramped together. However, this was across from bar... perhaps in the main rooms it is better? Where we were sitting, there was a draft from the front door so it was cold, and we were surrounded by tables with loud talkers so it was difficult for us to hear each other (and not eavesdrop). If I'd gone with my husband, I'd insist on a different table.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVery high quality sushi dish.Very high quality sushi dish. Loved the Vietnamese pancakes4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWent on a Monday night, soWent on a Monday night, so it was very quiet. The food was good, as was the service. They put us in the window, so we got a nice view of Boylston. More expensive then I would usually spend (~$25 a plate), but then again, I'm a college student.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMReally terrific all around.Really terrific all around. The food was excellent and the wait staff was very helpful. Definitely going back again.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA Diffrent Kind Of BistroTyphoon Asian Bistro....What a gem. My guy and I really enjoyed this from beginning to end. Great food, fresh sushi many kinds to choose from and tasty fun cocktail!
will for sure go again!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went last Saturday forWe went last Saturday for a bachelorette party and had a great time! The food was so delicious and the service was great. They accommodated our large party of 14 with no incident. I would come back in an instant. The orange chicken is to die for and so is their sushi!3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time here,This was our second time here, and it was light years better than the last time. I attribute part of the fact that we ordered the Black Pearl: a sushi/sashimi boat that barely fit on the table. The best thing is the yellowtail. The service was slow despite the fact that there were several servers and few customers, but when we got our food, we had a great and memorable meal.2/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
