A word from Twisted Fork - Old Market
The Twisted Fork is an ecclectic grill & bar in Omaha’s historic Old Market that serves American food with a cowboy twist. It blends southern hospitality with cowboy bravado and features menu creations from Executive Chef John Ursick.
The menu can be described as comfort food with a ‘twist’ of Chef John’s originality. The Twisted Fork also boasts a top notch signature drink menu and martini list designed by world class mixologist Martin Janica of Argentina and was voted as Omaha’s Best New Restaurant when it opened in 2008.

Diner Reviews
  • "Food was pretty good. We were there for a business dinner, so I think I had higher expectations for a broader menu of higher dollar/more gourmet items. It was my fault for not looking at the menu in advance of booking. The atmosphere was great, and would be nice for a date or a night out on the town. It seems more suitable for the younger set. For a night out, the prices were very reasonable with a cheeseburger/fries only around $12 and they had an excellent happy hour menu of drinks and appetizers priced well. Our server (can't remember his name, he was very tall and looked like Ben Afflek) was phenenominal. He was personable, funny, and really lightened the uptight feel of a typical business dinner. He deserves a raise and promotion. :)"

  • "I loved this restaurant: fun décor, variety on the menu and in a hopping part of town. We started with the mushroom dip, which had a rich, blue cheese sauce and came out alarmingly quick on a Saturday night. To drink, I enjoyed the pineapple upside down cake, which I would gladly have again (flavor was spot-on). For dinner, I had the blacked salmon tacos. They were stuffed with meat and packed with flavor. Normally, if I get fish tacos, I will add the rice and beans on the side to the taco, but there truly wasn't any room. My date had the chicken plate and RAVED about the risotto. Our server, Edam, was delightful. She was there whenever we needed and made the dinner remarkable in every way. I'd go back just to see her: amazing evening."

  • "We were in town for a family reunion and grabbed a reservation on OT for my mother and family. Upon arrival at or a minute after our reservation it was obvious they were not expecting us. Asked us to wait why they prepared a table. Inside was really loud so we asked to sit outside. After being seated I had to go back inside and ask for a server to take a drink order and know that we were there. Once in process things seemed to flow ok. Ordered chicken fried bacon as an app and it was not as good as it sounds. My wife's meatloaf was good as was my sons mac cheese. My ny strip steak was rather tough and I ate about half of it. Wait staff seemed not very knowledgeable. Table behind us had wrong wine brought to them."

  • "The food and service was excellent. The staff were very accommodating and genuinely seemed to want our experience to be enjoyable. My husband had the meatloaf and I had the ragout. Both items are not found in many restaurants so it was a treat for us. We will definitely return. "

  • "Two of us had reservations before our theatre show. Even though there were several large groups Michele provided great service. She was responsive to our timeframe but yet didn't make us feel rushed. The blue cheese filet was excellent, although the sides were average. Broccoli very underdone and potatoes tasted instant. Wine selection was nice and we would give it another try. "

  • "Many menu items have a unique flair. Delicious options that you don't find at "every" restaurant. Loved everything we ate."

  • "This was our first time eating at the Twisted Fork; we had a great time. There were 3 teenagers in our group of 5 and they were very appreciative of the menu choices, as were the adults. There was something for everyone. I highly recommend the salmon filet. The prices were very appropriate. I would eat at the Twisted Fork again."

  • "Dinner was mostly outstanding, but the ragout was a little bland. The filet was awesome, as was the special Gouda Mac with Shrimp. Only small problem was toward the end... Server got engrossed in B-ball game and missed us waving and calling for him to run our credit card. Celebrated my graduation, and had a nice evening."

  • "Me and family arrived at 8pm. Walking up to the doors it looks too fancy to bring kids into. Very nice inside but too dark. Service was great, food came super fast, and staff is very friendly. Portions are a little small--except for the burgers, and prices were a little higher than I would have expected. Overall good last minute choice for dinner on my part."

  • "The food was amazing. They do comfort foods in an upscale, delicious way. Will definitely be back for more."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner. We tried the fried pickles amd didn't really care for them. We loved the tenderloin with blue cheese, mashed potatoes, and grilled broccoli. Our server was pleasant but seemed busy...I'm sure due to the fact that it was Valentines. I don't think it is the place for a romantic dinner. It's pretty loud, tables are very close, and it was very bright."

  • "Don't go here when you are on a time schedule. It seems neither the management nor the staff is prepared for such. We had to wait 15 minutes for our table, the waiter was overwhelmed, and the food that night was not great. Give this place a try on a quieter day, it's worth it."

  • "We had the filet. Medium well came as well done with crispy edges. Ambiance was brighter than anticipated regarding lights...dim down for dinner. Alex was very tentative."

  • "Twisted Fork is one of our favorite downtown spots. The atmosphere is great and the food is always awesome! You must try the refrigerator pickles!! We tried the fried bacon with gravy for the first time on this trip and I'd definitely order it again. They had a limited menu for New Year's Eve, which is typical, however, we were not told that would be the case ahead of time. It was disappointing that some of our favorite picks were missing form the limited menu but it was still a nice dinner."

  • "This was our second time at the Twisted Fork ....have enjoyed our experience each time.......food is fabulous, interesting choices and a great selection."

  • "I liked the food at The Twisted Fork, but was not bowled over by it. All dishes we ordered -- caesar salad, chicken-fried steak, blackened salmon tacos, bread pudding - were solid, but none was a standout. The wine list is small but decent. The burgers that went past us as they were being delivered to other tables looked good -- perhaps I'll try that another time. I will probably go back for a lunch but probably not a dinner."

  • "This is the perfect place for casual dining with excellent food. We had been here about a month ago, and the blackened salmon tacos were so good that I was craving them again. Three of the four in our group had them on my recommendation. It was a slow week night, and our server was attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely be back again!"

  • "I had not been to the Old Market in many years. We were attending a show at the Orpheum and were looking for a close dining option. I viewed many options and on 2nd look happened upon Twisted Fork. We wanted to try Chicken Fried Bacon and it was on their menu. Our waitress was also the bartender and her service was great. Always a pleasant smile and attentive to our needs. This is the kind of restaurant you could bring your kids or parents. A variety of menu items from comfort food and burgers, to something special. Best Bloody Mary's I ever had and a nice variety of beer including local brews. My Braised Beef was delicious and plentiful. Both of us had a "to go" box. Definately would recommend"

  • "This was our first visit to the restaurant and we let them know that upon making the reservation. However, that made no difference. Food was fair, service was slow and not very accommodating. When we asked for bread to go with our salads, we were delivered 4 pieces of dried/grilled stale bread with no butter or olive oil and then to make matters worse, they charged extra for the bread on the final bill. We won't be back - too many better choices in the Omaha area. Expensive for what was served."

  • "Went for an early dinner with a friend. Our server (I believe his name was Johnny) was wonderful, giving great service, but not too aggressive where it becomes annoying. We both had "Omaha Restaurant Week" specials which offered an appetizer, main course and desert. We had a choice between 1 of 3 in each category. The food was delicious and just the right amount of each serving. I really enjoyed it and would recommend the Twisted Fork to my friends."

  • "I have heard many good words about the Twisted Fork from friends and co-workers. I went today for lunch and I was determined to try something new. For starters, I gobbled on some hot mushroom dip and flat bread crisps... this was recommended by my server who does not care for mushrooms! For my main dish, I went to town on the chili relleno... oh em gee! That is some good eats! I couldn't and wouldn't try to finish with dessert but I was told upon my second visit to try out the s'mores brownie. I will most definitely be back with my parents or anyone who wants a great food experience."

  • "Food was just ok. They were experiencing system problems, so had some issues with getting orders to the kitchen. Service was friendly, but maybe a little too relaxed."

  • "I had a bellini (champagne with peach puree) which was delicious! For dinner, I had the fried egg and cheese sandwich which was very good. My mom had the salmon and said hers was delicious. Our server was awesome. I highly recommend eating here!"

  • "We have been here before and we liked it but it has been a few years. they either got better at service and food or we just forgot our previous experiences. We had a wonderful time. Food was really good and service was too!"

  • "Always great service and I haven't experienced a bad item on the menu. The meatloaf dinner and sandwich are incredible. Everything on the menu is made fresh. You must try the Chicken Fried Bacon!"

  • "Best food in Omaha, hands down. They had a special menu for Valentines Day and even that was superb! Try the smoked gouda mac and cheese."

  • "This was my second visit here and I expected more service, even on a holiday. There was a set menu which featured primarily seafood options. So if you didn't care for seafood you were limited to chicken marsala or prime rib, thats it. Also I have never felt so pushed to eat and get out, even though there were open tables around us. With drinks, appetizers and dinner we were in and out in 30 min. From the time we sat down, 25 min until we had the check, leftovers boxed, and were being ignored by the staff. Maybe if it weren't Valentines day they'd let you enjoy your dinner and companions but I will never know because I will never return."

  • "Unfortunately, they had a special menu the evening I dined there. I was not impressed with the food. I ordered the cheese encrusted salmon with risotto and asparagus and the food was bland. The waitress hurried us and was not very friendly. The only reason I rated them as good is because I have been there for brunch and the food was good and unique. I may go back, but not anytime soon."

  • "My friends and I enjoyed our appetizers and lunch. I was a tad disappointed with how long it took us to get seated. We were waiting literally 5-10 minutes before the hostess came out. After that our service was great and quite visible."

  • "We visited Twisted Fork on a busy Saturday night. We had a reservation and our table was ready as soon as we arrived. The waitress was very personable and accomodative to our special requests. Drink service was slow, however, the place was packed!! The food was as delicious as ever and the refrigerator pickles are a MUST!!"

  • "Since we were here on New Years, and I had written an amazing review, this almost pains me to write. The food was, as expected, excellent...however, it was hard to enjoy eating it when we had to wolf it down to make the event. Service was beyond terrible. I was alone for about 20 minutes while the BF tried to find parking (which I did get my tea, but she never came back), but waiting 15 minutes for beers, 30 minutes for burgers (when those around us got their food) was unacceptable. We literally had 10 minutes to eat to make tip off. Again, food was excellent, but this isn't an option if you have somewhere you have to be...not worth the risk of having bad service. There 90 minutes, and literally only 10 of those was very rushed eating"

  • "This was our second visit to the Twisted Fork and we had a wonderful time! The French dip and bacon ranch cheeseburger were fantastic. The Pinot Noir complemented our food perfectly. We skipped an appetizer so we could have the S'more brownie for dessert. Delicious! We will definitely be back again!"

  • "This is a great go to place when you can't decide what kind of food to have for dinner. The twist on comfort food is fantastic. Very quirky decor and lots of locals at the bar. Fun spot!"

  • "Twisted Fork was a great dining experience. The wait staff was outstanding. Fullfilled our everyt need. Would deffinetly recommend this restaurant. The Fork Might Be Twisted, but the Service was Great."

  • "This is a good place to go for dinner out with friends. . . Good food, small but interesting selection of beer on tap, but both the atmosphere and service leave something to be desired. If you want one of their signature tastes, and don't mind the risk of immediate heart attack, order the chicken fried bacon! I shared that, the fried pickles, and topped it off with a smokehouse BBQ burger. Add a beer (Moose Drool - a very smooth dark with minimal bitter aftertaste) and I was out the door for about $20. Speaking of the door, we sat by it: Big Mistake! It's downright cold when anybody comes and goes and smell from smokers at the cigar lounge patio two doors down was noticeable even over the smell of the food."

  • "The reviews are exactly like the place. It's not worth the price and there are many more better places out there. The food was bland. I had the Gouda Mac n cheese and expected it to be good an flavorful. It was neither. My husbands prime rib was very good though. The waitress was very friendly and helpful."

  • "Celebrated New Years Eve at Twisted Fork, my whole family loved their meal! We tried the fried pickles and fried bacon for an appetizer; I would recommend the fried pickles! I tried the pork chop, which was perfectly cooked with great flavor. My husband had the beef medallions, which were also excellent. Service was a little rushed because we were one of the last tables of the night, but overall we had a great experience."

  • "Food was good, and service was good. The "Pretty Penny" drink was the highlight of my night, twice! The only thing we can say that wasn't "totally ideal" was being placed at the table behind the hostess stand; every time the door opened, I froze. Probably not a big deal for spring, summer, and fall, but on New Years Eve, it was definitely cold. We were sort of shocked we received that table when there was more free tables further back. But regardless, we will definitely be back."
