If you want great, personal service, superb and outstanding food and atmosphere out the wazoo, this is the best place I know of in the United States! The views from here are marvelous if you love looking at God's wonderful creations, scenic and animals! The steaks are great, the burgers are delicious and huge, the vegetables are extremely tasty, not bland and blah, and the Crème Brule is to die for!! We have been to this restaurant every time we go to Estes Park, twice on this trip, and have never been disappointed. Love, love, love it! All out 10 in our books!! The waiter recommended we try the elk, and it was delicious, as was the buffalo, steak and beef. Great appetizers and desserts as well. The owner (Thad), is charming and you can see that he wants to deliver the best of everything to those dining at this warm and beautiful restaurant . Our server was amazing, had great suggestions, and was very attentive. We did not have to ask for a thing.
Our meals were fabulous! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Elk Kabob appetizer and short ribs with sweet potato purée. I had a wonderful beet salad with mandarin oranges, walnuts, goat cheese and tasty greens. The duck was outstanding! There is also a lovely selection of wines and beers

The acoustics are not the best. The solo guitarist playing at dinner time helped temper the noise and was a pleasant addition.
The food is a bit pricey, but it is well prepared and there are a number of choices ranging from prime rib to game. There is a small selection of lower-priced items to choose from (pizza, sandwiches). The wine list is fine, and we found a California red we'd never had that was very good. The waiter was very attentive - almost too much so.
Twin Owls is a good choice for a nice evening out with a partner or friends. I had the chicken (not the stuffed one). The best part was the mushrooms and the vegetables. The chicken was good. Wine was good. Wait staff was excellent. The mushrooms were memorable! We had to delay our reervation by an hour and they were extremely flexible. They made special arrangements for our 25th anniversary with free champhange and dessert. So, if you want to eat at this great place while in Estes Park, make sure you get reservations. We were there in off season (April), so we called a few days in advance were able to get a table at 7 PM. The food was delicious. It had a nice selection of Colorado wild game. On a rainy evening, the crackling fire created the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing and enjoyable evening. We had a beautiful view of the mountains and the "yard", which made dining enjoyable with our two little children, who were more than welcome in the casual dining room. With tables placed far enough apart, our children were not bothering any other diners. The kids menu was appropriate and more healthful than most. The Filet MacGregor was good and the Black Canyon chicken was good; not exceptional. The wait staff and timing of courses were excellent! The price, very reasonable for the quality of food. We were lacking a reservation for dinner and so I just typed some stuff into google and got Twin Owls. I am so glad I chose to go there.
